Sofia backstory is truly sad asf, the fact that she was in Arkham for 10 is insane. They took a decent woman and broke her. The monster they created within her is finally coming out to play and now they are all dead 😂 my favorite episode so far
I can’t get enough of this show. Poor Magpie though, the last time I saw her was in the show Gotham, where she got killed by the Penguin for trying to rob him. She was just a kid in that show and Penguin made it look like she was off the hook, then he just laughs and shoots her in front of Selina Kyle to send a message to not steal from him.
@10:30 Mark Strong was a better choice to play Falcone for the show. The hanging mother scene is supposed to take place about 25 years before the events of The Batman. Sophia was 7 then, and in her early 20s when she was sent to Arkham. That makes her about 33 in the current story. Given the time frame it's better to have an actor much younger than Turturro play Falcone at those points in the story.

That payoff at the end, all starting with the speech, was on the level of Arya taking out the entire Frey family. She even saved the one innocent, like Arya did in preventing Walder's daughter/wife from sipping the wine.
Solid episode. It made me hope The Penguin does not kill off Sophia's character in the show. I think she would make for an interesting character in The Batman 2.
Don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but the yellow wallpaper in the cell is a direct reference to The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman! It actually matches the book cover perfectly.
Sophia got justice for herself with this mad performance amongst everything and the show still keeps on getting better and better, Emmy awards are in for her and Colin after this for sure (also great casting is due for Carmine's actor already, the resemblances are really there).
10:55 just wanted to point out that the “Congressman Hill” Carmine talks about during this scene is most certainly referring to Hamilton Hill, who was the Mayor of Gotham during the first two episodes of Batman: The Telltale Series. And in that universe, he was locked in a close mayoral election against District Attorney Harvey Dent until he was shot dead by, and this is ironic, Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin.
Hamilton Hill was also a corrupt mayor working for congressman Rupert Thorne in the comics, as well as the ineffectual (but not corrupt) mayor of Gotham in Batman: The Animated Series.
@@bramijdema759yes, and I should also mention that Telltale’s Hill was also corrupt, working with Carmine Falcone and Thomas Wayne to control the Gotham Underworld, and he was also the one who hired Joe Chill to murder Thomas and Martha Wayne.

9:26 the painting in the background is a Hidden Detail/Hint foreshadowing events. It is Guidoriccio da Fogliano at the Siege of Montemassi. Fogliano was a mercenary who laid waste to his enemies 👌🏼
Definitely the best episode yet. By the 14 minute mark, I had a feeling she was going to get framed by her father and it happened. Once I saw the police while she was talking to Oz, I knew she was screwed. Sofia was innocent all along. Less blood on her hands than Oz. It’s similar to The Count of Monte Cristo where Dante gets framed for no reason and then a little bit of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in trying to make her go crazy in an asylum when she isn’t. I initially thought Magpie was Harley. I’m glad she got her payback against all her relatives who betrayed her. She wasted 10 years of life for nothing. Mark Strong did a good job but his Carmine Falcone felt a little too quiet and reserved compared to John Turturro’s version. Great ending song: “Strange Little Girl” by The Stranglers. Good show! Way better than Agatha All Along which I gave up on after Ep. 3. Cristin in that hot dress showing plenty of cleavage. She and Colin are the best parts to this show. 9/10 👍🏻

So many things to like: she adopted the title of hangman, how 1 side of the family just got wiped out and penguin got a advantage to rule, mark strong shown as young falcone. Just brilliant episode
Such an insanely amazing episode-- the writing of this show is so great. I really feel for Sofia, any woman who has been in a relationship and has been gaslit and portrayed as "crazy" by an abuser I think could relate (obviously this is an extreme - comic book version of gaslighting and being made to look crazy to the millionth degree). Knowing her trauma as a child and then seeing her being driven to vengeance / madness by her family was so heartbreaking to watch -- and using Arkham to do it. Also seeing an inside look at Arkham and how corrupt it is was incredible-- normally we're only getting to see Arkham from Batman's POV when interrogating someone like Joker or Riddler. I don't know enough about Batman universe but with all the symbolism surrounding Sofia (flowers, green, chartreuse, gas mask, gassing the family, green house, etc) could this point to her becoming Poison Ivy?
I agree I was getting poison ivy vibes I this episode. Good breakdown of the writing and how it can parallel some women's issues. My wife said the same thing.
Spoiler : The person behind the “bliss” drug is Ra's al Ghul -> they won’t disclose that until next season or maybe in the Batman sequel. Setting it ip for Batman 3…
Cristin has been such an amazing actress in anything she does! This episode was amazing. Perfect casting. Even though we didn’t get much of Penguin, the episode was 10/10.
Just seen it really great episode and alot of clues for Sophia and her hangman segment. This is literally the best tv series and very accurate to the comic books
Man this episode was fkin phenomenal especially Sofia Falcone she was such a banger of a character in the show with Oz and Vic man the crime ridden city of Gotham has so many great characters and this world feels so lived in I love it so much this also brings a lot of levity to Dark Victory and Long Halloween storylines for The Bat-Verse man I can’t wait for the next 4 episodes this show has become one of my favorite superhero shows of this year alongside X-Men 97, Invincible, The Boys, and The Penguin!
Love this esp adds so much more context to the movie. Man I can watch more universe building this way. Another note on the bliss... from the mushrooms could lead to Scarecrow to joker's toxins. That's pretty neat.
This is an absolute banger of an episode, fav moment was her toast to the family. She was very upset with them all for there cooperation being that they signed those affidavit's.
It's funny to see how this episode, portraying the madness that escalates in Arkham, comes out right after the debacle of Joker 2. As if to say: this is how it's done! Great job, especially for Miloti. Proof that peak tv series can be better than a movie
Thanks for vid, all episodes of this show have been a delight. Cristin is shining with the character, she's chameleonic and so very convincing as being sometimes more on one of many façades like psychologically disturbed, glamorous, villanous, sharp woman. But with latest episode I was amazed at how good she can play a more than a decade younger, a bit naive and candid Sofia. All that and her beautiful big eyes, I am loving the actress as much as her work in this show.
It’s so rare to find a show that gets better with every episode. This series is amazing and I really hope they keep the Reeves universe going as long as possible
Crazy peak episode. Oz was barely in it and it was still so good. I feel really bad for Sophia, she was practically almost 100% innocent and got her life ruined.
As much as I’ve praised Colin Farrell for his acting, I have to give the same to Milioti, she has been nothing short of amazing! Par for such a great show! Thank you Charlie!!
11:36 I feel like he did want her to take over for him…. But it’s also foreshadowing the fact that “the rest of the family will do as he says” with the signed affidavits saying how Sofia hurt animals.
Such a phenomenal episode! I am glad that the whole episode wasn't a flashback but it did provide enough context for the rest of the season. Also Mark Strong's performance was pretty good, I think the glasses are what sold it for me.
Selena's mother is not amongst those 7 murdered women. When Sofia mentioned their names one by one during the family dinner, there was no mention of Martha Kyle, who is Selena's mother. This means Carmaine had killed many more women during his lifetime, not only just 7 women.
I’m going to be honest, I’m always been a Batman comic series more than any others. This is by far the most addictive show this fall. I can’t wait to see how the characters play out. Great review!

Awesome!
This episode was a masterpiece
Batman might want to rethink the "no-kill and send them to Arkham University to become a supervillain" policy.
🤣🤣
Love this esp adds so much more context to the movie. Man I can watch more universe building this way. Another note on the bliss... from the mushrooms could lead to Scarecrow to joker's toxins. That's pretty neat.
This is an absolute banger of an episode, fav moment was her toast to the family. She was very upset with them all for there cooperation being that they signed those affidavit's.
Such great writing, marvel needs to take notes.
Cristin Milioti is killing it, smoke show statue activated. 👏
I miss hearing ur breakdown
Last night I was looking for your video but I’m glad I woke up to ur notification 🔔 upload
It's funny to see how this episode, portraying the madness that escalates in Arkham, comes out right after the debacle of Joker 2.
As if to say: this is how it's done! Great job, especially for Miloti. Proof that peak tv series can be better than a movie
This should be the formula . Movie . Series. Movie
Mark strong did a great job as carmine falcone
This episode was something else omg
This is how you do a batman tv show! Can't wait for the rest of this season and hopefully more characters with their own series!
loved the explanations and comments! any ideas about the wallpaper Sophia’s cell?
That was likely the result of her slowly breaking down mentally.
From sweet innocent little girl to finally becoming what her father set her up to be ! What a poor thing
I'm a little late to the party but this episode was straight fire! Best series on television so far this year!!
The acting is so good really elevates the whole show
This is an amazing series! They are all really good actors in this
It’s so rare to find a show that gets better with every episode. This series is amazing and I really hope they keep the Reeves universe going as long as possible
Love the flashbacks can’t wait for more
Recasting of falcone works bc it’s a flash back
Crazy peak episode. Oz was barely in it and it was still so good. I feel really bad for Sophia, she was practically almost 100% innocent and got her life ruined.
Cristin Milioti is a beast of an actress
She was awesome!
Sophia is the victim who decided to say F it I’m gonna become the perpetrator 😂😂😂 I’m rooting for Sophia 😂😂😂😂
This means Carmaine had killed many more women during his lifetime, not only just 7 women.
he said this in the video
Ayo.. talk ninjutsu was a good one my guy. Thanks for the videos always
Hands down the best episode. And they’re all great. Shows just how amazing it was
the timing is so good, this is a straight slap to joker 2
This shows so good what an amazing episode
This episode was a classic while watching a classic, epic show so far
This episode was the hardest to watch, and it ain't the goriest. Just amazing! Agreed, best episode.
I’m going to be honest, I’m always been a Batman comic series more than any others. This is by far the most addictive show this fall. I can’t wait to see how the characters play out. Great review!
