I can’t believe Dylan talked about the Rachel and Chandler duo without bringing up that scene with the cheesecake where they’re both eating it off the floor 😭
I mean an academic paper with interesting research and findings would be different than 18 pages of somebody droning on and on. Not saying anything about Rachel but would you read an 18 page letter of your relationship from another perspective? 18 pages of somebody trying to rant or let it all out without being concise. It’s like verbal vomit. It wouldn’t be structured or concise
Top tier comment. It's not that Ross is likeable as a character, but the performance is hysterical sooo many times. Though I do have to agree with Dylan that the moment Joey figures out that Chandler and Monica are together made me laugh harder than any other moment in the show. Excellent comedic performance by Matt LeBlanc. This show really did have some of the best comedic acting across the board.
amen to that... David is incredible! I could list moment after moment of my favorite scenes on Friends.. most of them are Ross related, and many of them are moments where lines aren't spoken.. David was just so perfect as Ross.
It's kinda wild that Chandler isn't Dylan's favorite character when they both use humor as a defense mechanism... but maybe it hits too close to home for him.
My buddy believed that when you're a kid your fave Friend is the one that makes you laugh the most and as an adult your favorite is the one you are most like. So Dylan having the big comedic energy he does but still slightly neurotic personality definitely jives with him having Ross as a favorite lol.
The whole show revolves around Monica. It’s her apartment, Rachel is HER friend and Ross is HER brother so the other friends come along because of HER. Love it.
@@Peayou... I agree and i wasn’t on the Mojica team. I think he explained it well. The writers didn’t give Monica many jokes. Even when she jokes, she’s usually the joke like she’s super neat or she used to be fat. She doesn’t get a lot of punchlines so she doesn’t come top of mind as a best character. But for me personally, it’s her voice lol.
@@mandeanraje2300 I also think that comedy shows need this, one character that does not keep shooting jokes with every line. It keeps it fresh and kinda cleanses the palette in between the jokes that everyone constantly makes. Which makes her such an important character.
i love the parallel between season 3 ross forcing rachel to spend their anniversary together by going to her workplace and season 6 chandler and monica rescheduling valentine's day because monica was busy on the actual day
completely off friends. but this just made me think of the fact that my bf and i change the date/week of our anniversary every year bc we hate the fact that it’s in the DEAD of winter. makes me giggle hehe
Monica is definitely the group's glue. She was the mother of the group. Everyone hang out at her place. She is best friends with Rachel, she is Ross's sister, she married Chandler, Phoebe was her roommate and Joey lived across the hall.
This video is adored by the algorithm. This is like, the 15th time it popped up on autoplay. From now on, every time the video randomly plays unprovoked, I will leave a single reply to this comment to prove to myself, nay, to the world how beloved this video is! Never have I had such a persistent video in all my days; and what is funnier, is that 70% of the time, I just let it play on all the way to the end.
What struck me the most about this 3-hour long video is not the extensive in-depth commentary, the excellent comedic additions or the immaculate editing. It's the fact that Dylan maintained the same rigid position for 3 days straight while sitting in that uncomfortable looking bar stool. Colour me impressed 👏
@amberr3662 is the one in which the characters are ser in an alternate universe of what would be of their lives if in some important choices they woulve gone the other way. So like rachel is married to Barry, Monica never lost weight, Phoebe is a corporate woman with heart problems, Joey becomes really famous with days of our lives, chandler is kind off a nobody and Ross is still married with Carol.
i am SO GLAD someone else agrees that the rachel and chandler duo is so good and so underappreciated. the scene at rachel's birthday party when she confides in chandler with her parent's divorce and having to keep them separate is in my opinion one of the sweetest in the show.
Exactly, and it helps that their comedic chemistry is just top notch too. The cheesecake episode and the storyline with Rachel’s boss are some of my absolute favorites. I wish this duo had more chances to shine!
i loved it! however, since we found out in recent years how much matthew perry would come onto jennifer aston unprompted, i see why it wouldn't be in jen's best interest to increase the amount of scenes theyd do together
also remember when the cast threw her an early surprise birthday party and she mentions Chandler's birthday comes before hers when everyone else forgets 💀
There's definitely a difference between endorsing Ross as a character and appreciating David Schwimmer as possibly the most talented comedic actor of the group! Regardless of how shitty his character and arc become, his performance is still top notch and stands out even all these years later.
This. Ross was a whiny, self-absorbed, entitled manchild, but that's what was funny about him. He was still my third favourite character after Monica and Chandler. His emotional outbursts and depressive episodes were also relatable. Unlike Joey and Pohebe who were so far off planet earth that it was hard to even laugh at them.
Ross is someone I'd want out of my life in a second but that's what makes David Schwimmer so brilliant He took Ross' writing and turned it into a well rounded, crap person lol
One of my favorite subplots that show the great duo of Rachel and Chandler, is them eating all the cheesecake. No matter how many times I’ve seen it, I still laugh when Rachel knocks Chandler’s piece out of his hands, and then they eat it off the floor. Then Joey comes up, pulls a fork out of his coat and asks “what are we having?” Still love it.
Definitely how my last relationship started. And the fact they weren't put off by it being Battle Royale was a real clincher! Double points though if they have a fave book to hook me on.
One of my favorite scenes is in the episode where Ross and Joey are stuck on the balcony. It’s just so good when they actually attempt to get down and I think it’s more of that physical comedy u wanted.
Agreed! Plus the joke about avoiding the ice and the dumpster but ‘try to avoid the reddish brown stain inbetween’ wouldn’t have worked if we saw it because it’s just a joke about how someone must have already tried that before and went splat 😂
@@K-Y-L-E being on a break isn't broken up, it comes with the idea that the break is temporary while they try to work things out. So sleeping with another woman immediately is still shitty af and definitely a relationship killer.
By the end. She was bland and boring. They didn’t know what to do with her. She’s a chef who wants kids and cleans a lot. Oh but she’s also a proud owner of a Porsche.
Also with how gorgeous and stylish the other girls were. All people can talk about is Jennifer but I feel they’re all the same in terms of beauty. None of them are more attractive than the others
@@tearsofawaterfall2656 oh absolutely. everyone at the time seemed to only really be talking about rachels hair, clothes and general style but the others are equally as amazing to me! phoebe has such a unique and adorable fashion sense with amazing hair (i have seen recreations of her looks recently), but monica has always been a style icon to me for how effortlessly elegant she looked, though courtney cox is also just insanely beautiful. although hearing them talk about the pressure to be immensely skinny and not be known as the fat one really is horrible. seemed to be a breeding ground for eating disorders
@@Chris-ks4sw I think they were all not the best in their own way but that’s what made it realistic compared to if they were all great and never did anything wrong. Ross was an awful boyfriend, kissed joeys gf and was misogynistic, Chandler kissed someone the day after he got married and took Joeys gf, Joey treated girls like crap, Phoebe was rude and judgy sometimes and Monica was controlling and uptight. They all had their flaws.
I really like how you talked about Rachel's amazing delivery! I love the boys a lot but I feel like theres sometimes that weird 'women arent funny' bias where people only talk about Chandler or joey's delivery and kinda gloss over how fking funny the girls are too. I really loved this vid great work!!
Talking about how good child actors used to be and throwing shade on the Sprouse twins while also complementing one of them is EVERYTHING. I don't care if it was ironic or not.
And the fact that he criticizes the show for having the characters watch Die Hard and not realize that Bryan is the star of the movie LOL ugh... Dylan... you're killing me
@@장채린-p7n he actually did realize it though that was the source of his commenting regarding Bruce Willis 👀 he straight up said it was weird to him to have Bruce Willis play a normal character but then have those characters watch a popular movie with that person in it lol

@@kells4315 Man there is no season where Ross isn't treating at least one woman poorly because he either can or he's being selfish. It's so hard to watch and the main reason I've never made it past season one trying to rewatch it. Liking Ross at all is the biggest self report out there.
Let me tell you dylan, that one joke... I just couldn't stop myself-it started as a small chuckle, but then it exploded into a full-blown, uncontrollable fit of laughter. My chest tightened, tears streamed down my face, and I could barely catch my breath. I doubled over, gasping for air, and every attempt to calm down only made it worse. The more I thought about it, the harder I laughed, until my stomach ached and my voice cracked in between desperate, joyful gasps. It was one of those moments where everything else faded, and the sheer absurdity of the joke had me utterly helpless, laughing until I thought I might actually pass out. That specific joke man, just hit different. (yes I hate ross)
well they are normally using twins in old show like that like the Olsen twins if one is sleepy use the other one so they use both sprouse kids normally. I was so shocked when he talked about it like dude you joking right ? Its LITARALY THE TWINS ! xD
YES, Ross is just so funny and I know he is wrong in most situations. I just don't get how people hate him, because of it, but the same people praise Barney from himym, eve tho he's a much worse person than Ross :DD
ok but the fact that Dylan radiates chandler energy but is attached to Ross is hilarious but honestly the way he was explaining how when youre stressed you can just turn off your brain and watch friends and relax is i feel like how we feel with his videos at least personally ik with my anxiety or just overall stress ik a dylan video will ALWAYS make me feel better no matter what. ik im going to always laugh and feel better.
Chandler energy? Making up words fake-forgetting names and claiming to be born in 2004. Sorry, but his onscreen humor is definitely giving Joey energy, not Chandler
"another unexpected duo, and a dynamic one, chandler and rachel!" maybe my FAVOURITE friend duo in the show/group. They are so funny together and have so much platonic chemistry. They just relate to each other so well (divorced parents, complicated relationship with their dads, both dating/dated Gellars) so their wholesome moments are so sweet. And both of their antics together is just so entertaining to watch. The actors also work great together
i recently started friends and ever since you posted this i’ve been coming back when i finish a season and watching your section on it so it’s almost like we’re watching together lol! thanks for the video i’m having lots of fun
@@yiyangremus Rachel said “Maybe we should just take a break.” Ross says “ok, let’s take a break, let’s cool off” And Rachel said “no, a break from US” So Ross was thinking ok we need a break and she went further to specify “no, I mean a break from the relationship” as in the relationship is not going to continue. And yeah, any sane human would understand that means she does not want to be in a relationship with him at this time. But beyond that, she doesn’t give a time frame. Is this a week long break? If you aren’t talking to someone, you’re not dating them. You can’t ice someone out and not communicate with them at all and expect your relationship to still be fine, especially when the last thing you told them is you want “a break from US” That, combined with the fact that when he called her she had the coworker he was jealous of in her apartment with her, after telling him dozens of times he had nothing to worry about. You can’t forget that, because if they were still together why did she have the one guy she kept telling him not to worry about in her damn home? Because they weren’t together, she asked for a break from the relationship where they weren’t together. Like I said, it was shitty of Ross to turn around immediately and sleep with someone else, but they weren’t together at that point. And it was no shittier than her immediately inviting over her coworker that she knew Ross was suspicious of because the coworker had feelings for her even if they weren’t reciprocated. Even Jen Aniston said they were on a break 😂 Edit: you say it “implied” the rules of fidelity applied, but fidelity only applies in a committed relationship, which she was saying they were not going to partake in. She didn’t give a time frame, she called an indefinite break, AKA a break up. Even if she didn’t want it to be a permanent break up, she doesn’t get to just say oh I don’t want you to date anyone else but I’ll have my coworker over and that is ok. Remember, she did that first. Also, I don’t think it IS implied that you are still together. I think it’s strongly implied that the opposite is the case, but even if she were implying that they were together, she didn’t say anything and if you can’t communicate you can’t have an effective relationship, period. She wanted a no contact, silence, break from their relationship, for an indefinite period of time. She forfeited her rights as his sole girlfriend. If you try to call a break every time you have an argument, there’s clearly not much of a relationship to even save.
@@Jellybeansatdusk Ross acts out of control and fear, always. Rachel knew she wasn’t going to sleep with her coworker, Ross knee-jerked in an unloving way, by making it this competition of who will sleep with someone else first- a branch off of his insecure fear-response. A break doesn’t imply moving on to other people, it implies taking a break from that person to assess your feelings, like the intermission in a movie- you aren’t meant to go to another movie during that, you’re meant to refresh yourself and come back with a new perspective. A break is a ‘break’ and _by definition_ (“a pause in work or activity”) implies whatever it was will be being picked up again in the future, so idk where you’re getting the idea the relationship is over if someone asks for one. Sounds like you’ve had some Ross-moments you had to hastily try to excuse away (it’s called shame, if you aren’t proud of your actions, you should just do things you _are_ proud of; rocket science, I know). I recommend raising your standard, if so. Ross’ is in hell below the devil’s nuts. Ross couldn’t stand one night alone and has to instantly couple with someone so he didn’t have to deal with hard, real, adult emotions. He acted like an adult baby, the way he always does. What he did was neither mature, nor considerate; if he was truly invested in the relationship with Rachel, he would _never_ consider even thinking about another person, if he took the idea of the break seriously, maybe he could have done some self-examination about *why* she felt that way, but no, he had to distract himself with the faux “approval” of someone else (he was just choosing who was the easiest person he had access to- _and so was she)._ Rachel had had someone she didn’t consider in a romantic way over as sort of a palette cleanser, if you aren’t one, women feel safer around men they regard platonically, just like gay guys, we feel like we can interact with them without it becoming sexual or ‘about that’; not trying to understand or trusting her at all (which, trust is the only foundation you can build a lasting relationship on), he immediately showed his true colours by instantly cheating on her. The fact that he could so easily turn to another that quickly- and then attempt to discard said person like trash the next day, reveals his character perfectly. That is his true face. An inconsiderate, fear-controlled, child. There is NO excuse for what he chose to do, if only the show had been brave enough to make him suffer consequences for any of his actions- yet it’s realistic because women have a running trend over the entire history of relationships, of accepting less than they truly deserve or desire (perfectly encapsulated by Rachel at the end- he literally manipulated her and her life so that she would settle for less than she dreamed of). Only a child (literally or emotionally) would think he had any ground to stand on.
Matthew Perry (Chandler) and Jennifer Aniston (Rachel) were legit friends before this show. So you acknowledging how well their chemistry is in their subplots is proof of their friendship and I love that.😊
Dylan i keep coming back to your video and rewatching it just cause it’s almost as comforting as rewatching friends all over again, except im with a friend who’s making snarky comments every once in a while that makes it twice as funny😂😂
Growing up is realizing Chandler and Monica were the endgame couple not Ross and Rachel. They had a strong friendship before getting together, whenever they had arguments we actually see them talk it out and it was never something overdramatic like cheating, and they were always supportive especially during hardships (even before they got together). They were the true lobsters
When they have to face infertility issues always breaks my heart but at the same time it makes me so happy seeing them supporting each other, they are truly best friends❤️🩹
@@iheartdog4423 same! His editor putting them up (Dylan in friends and suite life) next to each other really sold it. His editor clearly gets it, but I don't think Dylan does lolol. But yea, it's hard to tell
Talking about friends for 3 hours and not talking about “we were on a break” or the best scene ever where phoebe finds out about chandler and Monica is WILD
He also says ross being a palaeontologist is a rare little fact that is rarely mentioned in the show. It is mentioned in very other episode. This guy clearly didn't actually watch the whole series, either that or he is a bad presenter
@@ffreshfields5211 That was actually a joke lol about how often the shows puts it on your face about ross is a palaeontologist...Thats just dylan humor you'll probably catch up on the tone if you watch a couple of his videos lol
The reason Rachel and Chandler weren’t in more subplots was specifically because their chemistry was so good. They didn’t want it outshining Ross and Rachel or Chandler and Monica
Makes complete sense actually, but that's still not an excuse, cause you know, a good director and editor and writer could have literally tailor made at the very least a few more scenes between the two, like the one with the cake, where they are in a comedic shenanigan. They could have done something! They gave us crumbles. Tasty little bakery crumbles, but still😂.
On my first watch I thought Chandler and Rachel might end up together (especially because of the episode where there are two parties for her with one parent at each and he comforts her). I spent like an hour watching edits on Instagram and found out in one of the captions that he ended up with Monica. Was very disappointed lol
I've seen every episode AT LEAST 20 times. I understand why people can't stand Ross, but my god, David Schwimmer is an incredible actor and, in my opinion, he has most of the funniest moments on the show.
yeah very understnadably ross's character is not likable. However actor deserves full props for acting out that character very well and deserves all the praise on the actor level.
I don't get it everyone does shitty stuff on the show but for some reason everyone dogpiles on Ross like he's the only one. David is by far the best actor out of the group though providing the most entertaining moments
Ross deserves so much better ngl, mans is having his friends take the piss out of him, hes the butt of the joke at least 7/10 times, and still he keeps trying. Mans has ZERO understanding of social cues and i love him for that because i understand what thet feels like. Plus hes hilarious lets be real
i think the "PIVOT!!" scene was more famous and funny specifically because of the outtakes where he just keeps screaming it while everyone on set is laughing hysterically.
I thought it was funny because I’d moved a few weeks earlier & had many similar experiences helping friends move. I remember cracking up when I first saw it, but I didn’t realize that it was considered a major moment from the show until years later. I was even a little surprised that people remembered it so well.
I think the scene is so memorable because it's super relatable. everyone has been through the moving experience or helped a friend move and had issues with that big item -- a couch or a mattress or whatever else.. lol
i always use this scene as an example when talking about how characters should enhance jokes. that scene might have been just as funny with Monica but its because of those characters specific neurotic behaviors. a lot of friends jokes are like that, you can't really just swap jokes around to different characters in friends, which happens in lazier shows. it's funny because ross is the one saying it, because we know ross.
I never saw the outtakes until recently but the first time I watched that scene I was laughing so hard. So I find it memorable for being one of the funniest scenes for me in the series
Tbh I don't even like Ross that much, I agree David is really good actor who brought so many hilarious expressions to Ross but wholely his character is wholesome/worse, I don't know how to feel about him,, plus I don't always luie wholesome characters. He is ignorant, posessive, needy, jealousy cheater who never can take blame for his actions. He falls right before Joey who is placed 5 for me
@@dudeinthecrowni agree wholeheartedly ross always pissed me off especially after rewatching but a lot of favorite moments are from him lmao what is your ranking of characters? i think my personal fave is chandler
You have to realize when we watched the show on regular TV, an episode a week, Mr. Heckles presence felt longer and more prominent. I mean, we didn't love him but at the time he felt like a regular presence in the same way Gunther was.
It’s for that reason I wish I had been around when the show was coming out rather than watching it on streaming services with my mom as a teenager. Watching that stuff live must have been so much better than binging it honestly because you feel all of it. The closest I came to that with a show was one called Once Upon a Time where I’d make every week almost an event on its own to watch it live
@@Megan-jx3dy same. I felt like that with Pretty Little Liars. Losing a character hit different when you had a whole week to dwell on it. Nowadays, clicking on that next episode immediately and watching the new shenanigans that ensue make you forget about a death instantly 😂
I think one of the reasons why chandler and monica got the "least interesting" plotlines was because none of the other characters had a stable, longstanding relationship like theirs. They took one for the team.

EXACTLY, he is so funny, great delivery and comedic timing, love David Schwimmer. But Ross as a character? As in how he treats his friends/love interest/sister? HORRIBLE.
Hi you just perfectly summed up the feelings about Ross I didn't know I had. I LOVE Rachel and kind of hated Ross because of that, but David Schwimmer is SO funny
I really appreciate the thoughtful detail of incorporating the theme song at the start of each season’s section. It’s a clever touch to play it in sequence and adds a nice touch of continuity to the video. Great work! :)
love dylan listing many very common and popular opinions on friends as his unpopular opinions while holding the actual unpopular opinion that he likes ross
1:01:31 the reason you can see him breaking character is actually because they filmed wider shots than what could be seen on screen back then. On the squared screens you can’t see Matt Leblanc breaking character just like in a lot of episodes you can actually see off set and the edge of it or camera’s on the side because at the time of filming you couldn’t see that on air.
I totally get Dylan. Phoebe was cool in the early seasons but she literally became a bully in the later seasons. Ross on the other hand is pretty misunderstood in many ways and i guess Dylan feels for him, which i get.
@@alyssaromero7470 no need to get all pissy. I just think it’s obvious that Dylan doesn’t like or resonate with characters that are a bit too quirky/out there. I probably will never watch this show on my own time, but I continue to come back to this video cause I love your commentary on it so much, I watch this whole video AT LEAST 2-3 times a month (sometimes more). UA-cam just starts playing it after other videos now LMAO
my favorite part of this video is when dylan is talking about the kid who’s playing ben being a great child actor, and he says “the sprouses could never” when the kid playing ben is literally cole sprouse.
One show I think does a really good episode of all the characters being confined in one space the entire time is it’s always sunny when they’re being held as hostages in the bar LOL.
When Dylan started talking about dating advice and how you gotta read their favorite book, I legit thought he would drop an Audible sponsorship. Way to keep us on our toes, Dylan.
I was waiting for someone to mention his advice because I sat there the entire time wondering how many dudes were going to take the advice to heart because it's legitimately great advice in the middle of this funny video but he was 100% correct about it.
dylan having the same frustrations i have for joey is so satisfying. in every show there’s always that one comedic character who Never gets that proper ending, and i need that trope fixed. cause there’s so much potential in each of them, but the show writers just refuse to ever do it. for what reason? i have zero clue, but it’s heartbreaking every time
Unfortunately for Joey they left it open ended because they had already planned for his spin-off show 'Joey'. But they should have given him more fulfilling arcs. Like his struggles in season 1 and 2.
I read somewhere that Joey is the only friend who finishes the show single because he embodies friendship. You see all the relationships he has throughout the show, none of them are as important to him as the relationships he has with his friends, and that is how it should be
this is the first time iv seen this dude's channel and i just watched more than 3 hours of him talking. this guy was born to be a youtuber. or a latenight show host but probably a youtuber
I mean Rachel was often pretty shitty about the stuff Ross was into, which isn’t okay to do to your partner, but Ross NEVER had to give up his career prospects for Rachel nor was it ever even considered that Ross cared too much about his career. So she wasn’t great, but she never held him back. He on the other hand DEFINITELY held Rachel back.
He had a son in the states tho. He had two options going with her and his daughter while leaving his son and family behind or asking her to stay and Rachel chose him.
@@kainaatkhan6528 the original plan was for Ross to stay in New York without his newborn daughter, leaving Rachel to look after her as a single mom in a new country, and there were apparently no issues with that idea
As far as the “Pivot” episode goes, the blooper was WAY more funny than the actual scene. Seeing the actors laugh till they can’t make words is just such a treat. That’s also what seems to happen in film I’ve noticed. Actors will completely loose it over something so basic. Makes it all the more funny. Love Friends bloopers!!
Ross is highly underrated as a whole. Was he perfect? No. None of them were. But David Schwimmer brought so much subtlety, skill and magic to many situations that could’ve easily never worked.
This is so well-put. A lot of who Ross is as a person is hardly tolerable to many, but David's acting is a huge reason why I could never outright hate the character.
i love when people point out that David (Ross’s actor) is rlly good at physical acting/comedy bcz it’s so true 😭 “The one where Paul’s the man” is literally one of my favorite episodes 😭
The “joke” with phoebe walking in as Supergirl is she immediately starts eyeing Monica as Catwoman and they start circling each other. In the comics, they’re nemeses. That’s the joke, Dylan, hope that helps!

The irony of Ross being so mad about reading an 18 page letter when he's an academic researcher and professor astounds me.
Probably bc they were on a break and doesn’t want to read about it for 18 pages front and back
And also… wouldn’t that show how much she cares about you?? Like wouldn’t you be offended if she only wrote quarter a page 😭
I mean an academic paper with interesting research and findings would be different than 18 pages of somebody droning on and on. 100% agree with your Ross take. Ross is a terrible boyfriend and problematic but David Schwimmer is hysterical. His physical comedy is so underrated

Some of my favorite scenes are actually the ones where Ross and Rachel are fighting because they play off each other so well.
fr !!
Yeah, David is top tier. Since I grew up with Friends, and only knew him as Ross, when I saw him in Band of Brothers I lost it; haha.
dylan making a 3 hour recap of friends and ignoring the whole “we were on a break” debacle is so funny to me
literally
I literally was waiting for him to give his opinion on that . But he didn't even say the " break" word at all 😂
Maybe it’s because he’s so pro-Ross 😂😂😂
He knew he couldn't defend Ross, the snake.
I was so waiting for it too
It's kinda wild that Chandler isn't Dylan's favorite character when they both use humor as a defense mechanism... but maybe it hits too close to home for him.
LMAO!!!!
well Ross is Chandler’s bestie, it’s kinda make sense that Dylan like Ross

And yk... Chandler is the best character
Chandler is the best character
The fact that he bought stencils for this is so heartwarming, and displays so much organicism
dylan having ross as a favorite is so unexpected but obvious at the same time
right
Would've thought Chandler tbh but Ross feels perfect for Dylan
My buddy believed that when you're a kid your fave Friend is the one that makes you laugh the most and as an adult your favorite is the one you are most like. So Dylan having the big comedic energy he does but still slightly neurotic personality definitely jives with him having Ross as a favorite lol.
And that's why it pisses me off so fugging bad

The whole show revolves around Monica. It’s her apartment, Rachel is HER friend and Ross is HER brother so the other friends come along because of HER. Love it.
SHES THE GLUE
”I’m the hostess”
not only that but later on she's even more of a center point with chandler being her partner, and phoebe and joey were just doing their own thing
Yeah definitely Monica and then Rachel is a really close second
UNNECESSARY
Love the fact that you acknowledge how important Monica is. Even calling her the “glue of the group”. I agree.
I've heard people dismiss her and I don't know why
She’s my favorite character on the show, so I’m glad she’s getting some respect lol
@@CaitlinMaeLorenzana she’s probably my third.

Because Monica and Chandler were an amazing couple. They were always the best for me. I got very frustrated with Ross and Rachel regularly
Monica is definitely the group's glue. She was the mother of the group. Everyone hang out at her place. She is best friends with Rachel, she is Ross's sister, she married Chandler, Phoebe was her roommate and Joey lived across the hall.

Dylan needs a comfy armchair for these long-form videos! I know I’d be slouching and aching 30 minutes in
I thought the same thing 😢
He probably works out
He was filming his commentary AFTER watching the entire series. So the max he sat in the chair for was prolly an hour a day.
Dylan not mentioning the Parallel universe ep is criminal
Wait which episode was this? I feel like I don't remember it but I feel like I should
@amberr3662 is the one in which the characters are ser in an alternate universe of what would be of their lives if in some important choices they woulve gone the other way.
The cheesecake episode is everything to me
i loved it! however, since we found out in recent years how much matthew perry would come onto jennifer aston unprompted, i see why it wouldn't be in jen's best interest to increase the amount of scenes theyd do together
also remember when the cast threw her an early surprise birthday party and she mentions Chandler's birthday comes before hers when everyone else forgets 💀
I actually think Chandler having to kiss everybody when he leaves is one of the funniest things in the entire show.
100%!!
I agree. I think it was hilarious and Monica and Chandler sneaking around was SOOO fun to watch
Literally I loved this episode I found it so funny
AGREED. That and Joey covering for Chandler and Monica.
That had me ROLLING! SO FUNNY 😂😂
There's definitely a difference between endorsing Ross as a character and appreciating David Schwimmer as possibly the most talented comedic actor of the group! Regardless of how shitty his character and arc become, his performance is still top notch and stands out even all these years later.
Exactly! Though tbh all 6 suck lol and to me Joey is the worst actually, but that's just me and anyway, all 6 make me laugh, though Ross the most lol
David Schwimmer is absolutely brilliant
😊l
Ross is someone I'd want out of my life in a second but that's what makes David Schwimmer so brilliant
He took Ross' writing and turned it into a well rounded, crap person lol
Fun fact: The One Where No One Is Ready was made that way because they didn't have anymore money for guest stars.
And it's the one that took the longest because Matt popped out his shoulder
And it's also shot in just one location, the apartment, again, to save budget!

@@Chris-ks4sw I think they were all not the best in their own way but that’s what made it realistic compared to if they were all great and never did anything wrong. the lack of dylan telling us his opinion of whether they were on a break shocked me
He kinda says it when he says Ross is a bad boyfriend and shows him hiding the girl he slept with behind the door.
Ross was a bad boyfriend, but they WERE broken up. It was a shitty thing to do, but it wasn’t cheating.
@@JellybeansatduskThey were on a BREAK. A break implies you aren't speaking but the rules of fidelity still apply. So no, it WAS cheating.
@@yiyangremus Rachel said “Maybe we should just take a break.”
Ross says “ok, let’s take a break, let’s cool off”
And Rachel said “no, a break from US”
So Ross was thinking ok we need a break and she went further to specify “no, I mean a break from the relationship” as in the relationship is not going to continue. And yeah, any sane human would understand that means she does not want to be in a relationship with him at this time. But beyond that, she doesn’t give a time frame. Is this a week long break? If you aren’t talking to someone, you’re not dating them. You can’t ice someone out and not communicate with them at all and expect your relationship to still be fine, especially when the last thing you told them is you want “a break from US”
That, combined with the fact that when he called her she had the coworker he was jealous of in her apartment with her, after telling him dozens of times he had nothing to worry about.
Even Jen Aniston said they were on a break 😂
Edit: you say it “implied” the rules of fidelity applied, but fidelity only applies in a committed relationship, which she was saying they were not going to partake in.

They were the true lobsters

this editing is GOD TIER, props to Joe for it
This three hour long video was amazing, especially that one joke!
i think the "PIVOT!!" scene was more famous and funny specifically because of the outtakes where he just keeps screaming it while everyone on set is laughing hysterically.
I thought it was funny because I’d moved a few weeks earlier & had many similar experiences helping friends move. I remember cracking up when I first saw it, but I didn’t realize that it was considered a major moment from the show until years later. I was even a little surprised that people remembered it so well.
I think the scene is so memorable because it's super relatable. everyone has been through the moving experience or helped a friend move and had issues with that big item -- a couch or a mattress or whatever else.. lol
David's laugh wheezing... barely able to get the word out. 'PIVOT!' Is an iconic blooper.
Everytime I watch it I cry and have rib pains. 😂
i always use this scene as an example when talking about how characters should enhance jokes. that scene might have been just as funny with Monica but its because of those characters specific neurotic behaviors. a lot of friends jokes are like that, you can't really just swap jokes around to different characters in friends, which happens in lazier shows. it's funny because ross is the one saying it, because we know ross.
I never saw the outtakes until recently but the first time I watched that scene I was laughing so hard. So I find it memorable for being one of the funniest scenes for me in the series
Theory: Dylan's enjoyment of a season depends primarily on how much he has enjoyed Ross in it.
That's not even a theory that's just true
Ross pre Emily divorce = Worst character
Ross post Emily divorce = Best character
He carried the later seasons
He’s right about the favorite book thing. Also I liked that one joke he made that one time.
huge respect to dylan, can't even imagine how much work was put into this video
We'd have to ask Joe
It’s the thought that matters because all it actually takes is a green screen and editing software lol
Dylan is so bad down for Ross it feels like I'm watching a 3 hour long Ross appreciation video lol
I love Ross so much!
Fr but deserved
I think the reason those "no laugh track" videos work is because Ross is so funny the audience laughs for a weird amount of time.
Us Ross Stan’s finally won😂
Could have still stood to be on the show longer before he was offed.
@@Megan-jx3dy I did the same thing with once upon a time!! Definitely made every Sunday feel special lol
Dylan saying that “the Sprouses could never” when that literally is Cole Sprouse is so funny
I’m so glad someone else noticed this
he knows, omg. that’s the joke you guys…
I think one of the reasons why chandler and monica got the "least interesting" plotlines was because none of the other characters had a stable, longstanding relationship like theirs. They took one for the team.
your username 🥹
Stable relationships are boring to watch 😁
@@IsThisThePrizeIveWaitedForas someone in a long term relationship, i actually found most of chandler and monica’s relationship drama to be quite funny. the back massage episode along many others reminded me of a similar situations i’ve been in with my significant other. however, i totally see how it doesn’t connect with everyone
The fact that he said the sprouses could never be like this kid. While referencing a sprouse...is comedy gold.
😂
when?
2:06:00
I think he was joking
It was obviously a joke but he did with such a straight face that I want to believe he was serious, that would be so much better
Dylan calling a snout a “dog beak” instantly reassured me that I was indeed watching a Dylan is in Trouble video
English is not my first tongue but i wanted him to hear me shouting “SNOUT” so bad😂😂
😂
It took me a while to come up with snout because I couldn't stop laughing about the dog beak and my brain didn't work properly. 😅 In German snout is called Schnauze. Word of the day. 😉
I snorted cereal out of my nose when I realized you don't recognize mustache man without the mustache and that you're confused why Monica gets into this relationship with the weird dude 😂😂😂
I watched all of this for Mathew Perry, Rest in Peace my guy. you helped make us happy with friends.
thats a slap to his face because before he died he said he didn't want to be remembered for friends. and you just watched the entire 3 yt video of friends for him lol. never seen bigger disrespect
@@dakshilzalavadiya8642 he said he want to be remembered for the things he had done for the people that suffer from addiction in the first place but he never said he doesn't want to be remembered for frends at all, it is important to remember about the things he had done personally but that doesn't mean it's disrespectful to watch the series....
@@dakshilzalavadiya8642could you BE any more obnoxious?
@@dakshilzalavadiya8642no offence but if you’re in a show this popular for 10 years people are going to remember you for it. even if he says he doesn’t want to, that changes nothing. he can be chandler from friends and also matthew perry who helped people struggling with addiction. it’s like daniel radcliffe- he’ll always be seen as harry potter by most people, even if he doesn’t always like it.
IT'S MATTHEW
Honestly Dylan is hilarious, that one joke he told? Had me in stitches, that one joke was top tier, best he’s ever made!
that one joke was so funny! he’s so iconic for coming up with that joke
You know how bad I want to put the time stamp of that joke so I can find it again but I’m holding back for the community as a whole
I KNOW RIGHT ! That one joke is amazing !!!!
a fellow kennedy??
Joke of the year! Willing to vote on this joke at the end of the year!
I think the reason I'm okay with all the Ross praise is because it's rarely about him as a character, it's more about the writing and David's delivery, I like that despite how much Dylan likes him he still calls out his behaviours haha
Those were jokes he was making
or that joey got his own show
@@Yaya_inc You gotta understand, it is SO hard to tell sometimes
@@roscspctals THAT TOO
He said the sprouses could never so I think he knows lol
Everyday my need for a the office video from Dylan increases. I repeat. This isn’t a want this is a NEED.
Dylan talking about the Sprouse's not being able to bring the same kind of talent as the Sprouse's to acting is so funny
I couldn’t tell if it was a joke or if he actually didn’t know he was talking about the exact same person/people 😂
@@anjacoetzee9327 as he made the joke before but with “Russ” I think he knows and just likes to fuck with us 💀
i was going to comment this exact thing omg! i died laughing
i rly wanna know if it was a joke or real 😩
I literally just commented the same thing 😹
Fun fact: the reason Chandler was amazing in season 10 is cause it was the only season he was sober. 😂 He apparently won the Emmy for that season too.
he never won an Emmy unfortunately. Only Lisa did (and Jennifer a GG)
no it was season 9, and he was only nominated for that season
Yah it was season nine, and also season 10 but season nine was his first. So proud!!☺☺
this is a heartbreaking comment now that he’s died :(
@@sarvolkskaya just woke up and found out abt this :(
Ross is hilarious, top tier line delivery and always super funny. As a character in a relationship? Horrendous 😂
YES this is a perfect description for ross, because i don't hate him, but i've always disliked the decisions he made in his relationships
Agreed. The character is irritating but David Schwimmer IMO gives the best performance in the show.
Actually wasn't a big fan of Ross and i feel Dylan just laughing at everything Ross did made me love Ross all of a sudden 😂😂
I really appreciate the thoughtful detail of incorporating the theme song at the start of each season’s section. It’s a clever touch to play it in sequence and adds a nice touch of continuity to the video. Great work! :)
love dylan listing many very common and popular opinions on friends as his unpopular opinions while holding the actual unpopular opinion that he likes ross
literally
I like Ross too
love ross
i like ross, and it's hard out here
lol i'll
never understand how people can not like ross. He's hilarious.
I never thought that someone like Dylan would hate Phoebe and love Ross 😭
Really? It’s kind of obvious that he would
@@goldrush18x well that’s just my opinion so?
@Alyssa Romero so passive aggressive for no reason 😂😭
I totally get Dylan. Phoebe was cool in the early seasons but she literally became a bully in the later seasons. Ross on the other hand is pretty misunderstood in many ways and i guess Dylan feels for him, which i get.
@@alyssaromero7470 no need to get all pissy. I just think it’s obvious that Dylan doesn’t like or resonate with characters that are a bit too quirky/out there. Look how he reacted to the quirky parents in Easy A. If you watch enough videos it’s kind of obvious that Ross falls more in line with Dylan’s sense of humor.
I probably will never watch this show on my own time, but I continue to come back to this video cause I love your commentary on it so much, I watch this whole video AT LEAST 2-3 times a month (sometimes more). UA-cam just starts playing it after other videos now LMAO
Suddenly Dylan naming every monkey in movies "Travis" makes so much sense 😁
life came full circle when the dots connected
He really did hate that monkey in Pirates of The Caribbean lmaoo
my favorite part of this video is when dylan is talking about the kid who’s playing ben being a great child actor, and he says “the sprouses could never” when the kid playing ben is literally cole sprouse.
i had to scroll through so many comments to see someone point this out LOL
I wonder if he actually didn't realise LOL
i was literally looking for this comment thank u!!!
I'm pretty sure that was the joke.
...that's the joke....
Ahhhh! 3 Hours of Dylan! We've been blessed 🙏
WOOOOOO
Definitely
whooooo!
We are blessed blessed 🎉🎉🎉
YES
One show I think does a really good episode of all the characters being confined in one space the entire time is it’s always sunny when they’re being held as hostages in the bar LOL.
Dylan’s high voice sounds like Charlie Kelly it’s great HAHA. Dylan would do great line delivers in a comedy show, he’s so funny
Same 😂😂😂😂
dylan having the same frustrations i have for joey is so satisfying. in every show there’s always that one comedic character who Never gets that proper ending, and i need that trope fixed. cause there’s so much potential in each of them, but the show writers just refuse to ever do it. for what reason? i have zero clue, but it’s heartbreaking every time
Unfortunately for Joey they left it open ended because they had already planned for his spin-off show 'Joey'. But they should have given him more fulfilling arcs. Like his struggles in season 1 and 2.
Raj big bang theory
I read somewhere that Joey is the only friend who finishes the show single because he embodies friendship. You see all the relationships he has throughout the show, none of them are as important to him as the relationships he has with his friends, and that is how it should be
they made a spin off for his character but it didn’t last bc it was fucking terrible
Basically, that was it. @@ashegrey3042
this is the first time iv seen this dude's channel and i just watched more than 3 hours of him talking. this guy was born to be a youtuber. or a latenight show host but probably a youtuber
welcome
Agree completely about Ross going to Paris with Rachel. He really held her back in so many ways. Ross is the worst lol
They both held each other back,
all characters were bad, only caring about themselves not thinking of how it could affect those around them
I mean Rachel was often pretty shitty about the stuff Ross was into, which isn’t okay to do to your partner, but Ross NEVER had to give up his career prospects for Rachel nor was it ever even considered that Ross cared too much about his career. So she wasn’t great, but she never held him back. He on the other hand DEFINITELY held Rachel back.
i hate him
He had a son in the states tho.
Even though Ross tested my patience sometimes , David schwimmer was amazing , his performance was consistently top notch
Ross is shitty but we love David
He's a horrible person, but a GREAT character
David Schwimmer is EASILY the best actor on the show.
Dylan that ONE joke was so insanely funny, I fell off my chair laughing.
i love when people point out that David (Ross’s actor) is rlly good at physical acting/comedy bcz it’s so true 😭 “The one where Paul’s the man” is literally one of my favorite episodes 😭
The “joke” with phoebe walking in as Supergirl is she immediately starts eyeing Monica as Catwoman and they start circling each other. In the comics, they’re nemeses. That’s the joke, Dylan, hope that helps!
Came here to say the same thing! I saw that immediately 😂
I thought Catwoman was a Batman villain?
