    The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. If you wear headphones, your mind won't be blown, but it will go, "woah, that's cool."
    I'm also the producer for the Winding Road UA-cam Channel:

    Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!

    APX Boston this year is going to be a blast - it's a great chance to meet me and a large group of other automotive UA-camrs. They're holding it at K1 Speed in Wilmington, MA on Sunday, September 16th. We'll all be karting and hanging out with everyone that day. When i was in Africa i owned a Prado 120, it was a 4 cylinder diesel, no turbo and it was super slow! Mine had an auxiliary tank and could hold 180 liters. Had a manual 4wd shifter for hi and low and it was a manual 5 speed transmission. I've done 1200 miles on a full tank/s. Now I have the Gx 460 Premium which is a j150. The premium is not a base model, it’s the middle spec.

    75 mph - 80 mph is not an optimal speed for highway fuel economy. I believe the optimal speed is 55 mph and the difference between 55 mph and 80 mph is very significant, especially for suvs.

    • @MogulFarmer
      @MogulFarmer 2 роки тому

      Most interstate speed limits range between 65 and 75, even up to 80 in some states. Rural state highways out west have speed limits at 60 and 65. Interstate speeds in the western US are 75-85.

    I’ve been looking at 4Runners, but I feel those are bought more by younger more adventurous types and could be run hard on and off road, but I am willing to bet that 95% of these gx will never see dirt, likely only driven to the office, dropping kids at school, soccer games and the mall. I think I could get an awesome deal on a lightly used and well cared for gx from a suburban family in a few years, add some all terrain tires, lift, sliders, roof rack and turn it into an awesome adventure vehicle.

    Interesting. I've been watching your GX videos to compare with my own. Mine's a Kuwaiti entry level spec, but I've noticed that the version I have is equipped with a fair number of features I didn't see on this one. To name a few:
    1) Air suspension settings controls [You have them in your 2012 model, but it's absent in this one. The top two switches on that little instrument cluster. Didn't catch a good look of your 2012 model, but with mine it's ride height on the left, comfort/sport/normal settings on the right].
    2) Automated third row controls.
    3) Trajectory prediction on the back-up camera.
    4) Heated/cooled seats.
    5) Proximity sensors on the front and back.

    • @alh06

    • @RPGTKingpin
      @RPGTKingpin 3 роки тому

      @@alh06 I would recommend you look again, while keeping the points I mentioned in mind. You'll notice they're all missing.
      1) 0:07 Take a look at the switches next to the shifter. Top two are missing.
      2) 3:19 Left side , just under the seat belt slot, there should be switches for the powered third row.
      3) 5:24 he mentions the lack of trajectory prediction.
      4) 0:07 Look to either side of the storage compartment in front of the shifter. Flat plastic. Seat temp controls should be there.
      5) 1:28, 1:42 Note the bumpers are smooth. No sensors.
      Additionally, wood trim steering wheel.
      The point I was making is "base" model varies from country to country. In Kuwait, where I live and where I purchased my '17 "base" GX, it has all the above missing features; A fair few of these are strictly available on the US Luxury trim, IE the highest trim available.

    The Land Cruiser Prado looks better and more rugged in my opinion but I guess Toyota doesn’t want to make a US version being they would have to modify the current LC Prado models to meet US emissions regulations. They also probably figure US customers have the extra cash to spend on the “luxury” Lexus GX model.

    Hey @thetopher can you say me if the LKA and ACC works well on it? Sorry for asking it coz many dislike semi autonomous technology, but i just love these features when you need to eat miles across US

  • @estebanmuneton182
    @estebanmuneton182 6 років тому

    To be a premium brand, it needs to have more features. But he said that it's the base model so... and to pay $50k it's ok. If somebody buys this kind of SUV, you expect people to put premium fuel on it, but there are some others than don't care about it and just put it regular fuel. Excellent review man, always giving honest opinion from your point of view. Thumbs up!!!

      This 50k gives you a car for 20 almost trouble free years, for hard life circumstances place to sleep, so its still a good offer even when its outdated

    I really wish this Lexus offered a trim of the GX with the 4.0 litre V6 used in its corporate cousin. 8 cylinders combined with 4.6 litres of displacement is stretching a bit too far on fuel economy, especially once you consider the fact we pay $1.26 for gasoline in Ontario, Canada.

    No reason why this 2018 should have the same interior as the 2010 model... They could have at least updated the interior when they updated the car for 2014. It looks so old and dated inside compared to the rest of the Lexus lineup. Also the rear end looks dated too
