I own a Lexus LS 430-2006 and love it. Best model years 04-06. It never breaks. I absolutely hate these new Lexus with these giant mouth grills. I always did!!! Ugly. And I don’t think these new ones will hold up as well. And yes no small engines. I just won’t buy. I’ll by low mileage do used and I will buy new parts for it in case they break in the future.
That’s not true. Lexus still sell the GX 460 up to end of 2023. I bought the last model year GX 460 Luxury with Sport Package. It’s the same and improved GX Lexus made for 20 years with incremental improvement and reliability. The best decision I made and not buying the new redesigned 2024 GX 550.

Have had mine since 2017. Paid $43k cash and no plans to sell it ever. Best car we have ever had. Literally just gas and oil changes and it drives the same as the day we bought. No interior wear or squeaks.
I still have my 1989 4 Runner 4WD , Any questions. Yes runs like a charm. v6 Engine , original transmission. Fuel injection system gaskets , bushings needed replacement ..cost was $600. Just added LED Head Lights and super bright LED foglights. 16 mpg is a bummer.
I’m on my 2nd Lexus. I can’t afford anything new so I buy used and old. 10 years and 100k miles? Who cares? They always run like brand new! Try that with any other brand.
Made at the famous Tahara Plant in Japan: The man-made site was built in such a way to jut out in straight lines into the sea. This allows them to bring in 50,000 ton ocean-going cargo ships to load directly from the factory. Lexus builds several vehicles at the Tahara plant like the Lexus LS, GS, IS, IS F, GX and LX models. We toured the assembly plant 1 to see the GX and LX SUVs get built.
I absolutely love the Lexus GX. I spent some time working at a Lexus dealer, and the amount that I would see with high miles that still ran like a top was amazing. On top of that, it's one of the last vehicles in its class to come standard with a V8 engine. The only possible competitor I can think of that offers a V8 would be a Chevy Tahoe, which is far lower quality than the Lexus, and costs pretty similarly. On top of all that, the GX is great for off roading. I only wish it offered a manual option like the Toyota Prado in other countries, but I'm sure very few would sell if they did.
@@lilmoris1 they are decent! And they should be for the price, but I’ve seen lots of newer ones come in with misfires, faulty sensors, transmission codes, etc… Definitely one of the best vehicles GM has to offer, but nowhere near the quality of the Lexus. I used to be a Chevy guy, but they’ve really fallen in the ranks lately.
@@nathanjones9586 Not saying they're superior but imo Tahoe/Suburban is the best vehicle Chevy makes and probably the one they sell the most. I prefer the Tahoe because it is smaller but still to big so idk if I'd buy one, I rather own a 4runner or a Montero Sport (not sure if Mitsubishi names it like that everywhere)
This is the SUV I’m getting. I’ve never driven or ridden in a more comfortable car and the side opening trunk is amazing. My mom has had a lexus GX for years and even her old 2003 GX was perfect. I can’t wait for mine!
@@JoeGX460 I agree! We took my mom’s newer 2016 lexus GX to colorado in the summer and it hailed for 15-20 mins straight and the car didn’t have a single dent, and on the way to CO a tree branch smacked the side of the car in a crazy summer storm at a truck stop and still no dents or scratches. I’ve never been in a more comfortable car, so I’m completely sold on it! I will probably wait until my fiancé and I buy or rent a house with a garage because our vehicles are always parked outside at our apartment and I’d hate for someone to damage it while parked outside. I’ve had way too many selfish assholes damage my cars and, of course, they never leave a note. I really like the dark blue GX!
2022 is likely the last year for the natural aspirated V8. The GX is a 12 year old design and 2021 was a record sales year for it, I think folks want the V8.
@@chezzyperson3339 for a modern 4.6L V8 to only make 300hp & 330lbs of torque, it means it is likely low revving and meant to take a beating. So I think longevity was intended for this V8, not just power output.
@@chezzyperson3339 yea, i still think for this gen, longevity was more of an emphasis. A larger engine with less revs and power output generally lasts longer.
naw.. we got a 2021 gx460... the v8 us nice but the mpg is bad... the new twin v6 coming will get better mileage... you get these to off road or mall crawl and not race...
$51K, that's a lot, but then again he's got a quality vehicle that will last forever. I have a 2004 Sequoia 4WD with the 4.7 V8, runs like a dream. Best thing only has 161,000 miles and paid just $4,000 for it a year and a half ago. It will probably outlast me.
And if the previous owner did not buy that 2004 Sequoia brand new, you would not own a used 2004 Sequoia. Cost is relative, but best thing for us is to make sure people buy quality vehicles brand new.
@@240TechGuy I am not against buying new cars, my wife has a 2019 Forester that we purchased new. Other cars I bought new, a 1987 Grand Am, 1989 Firebird and a 2004 Honda Fit. Nothing like a brand new car. All the rest have been used with mixed results.
The One to buy. The ride is excellent and luxurious. I have lots of friends who bought one of these after experiencing the nightmare of owning unreliable German SUV's - BMW X series, Mercedes ML/GL or Audi Q. What a difference- not a single problem and some of them are touching 180k miles now. It might be behind on the gizmos and gadgets side but you have a vehicle that will serve you trouble free for 20 years at least. Build in Japan with superb quality. It tows really well and impressively off -road capable. Bulletproof !!!
*The Lexus GX is the Toyota Prado Land Cruiser.* Only difference on the exterior is the front and rear bumper covers all other sheet metal, mechanicals and running gear are the same. A large part of the world gets the Prado because the vehicle is more utilitarian in that trim. Americans want Luxury.
@@joepierson3859 Toyota builds/sells two models of the Land Cruisers around the world. Currently the 'Land Cruiser 300 series' and the 'Land Cruiser Prado'. The LX is more or less equivalent to the 'Land Cruiser 300 series' although built in a different factories. The GX is equivalent to the Prado Land Cruiser and built in the same factory. Toyota had imported the 200 series LC and the LX based on it but stopped with the 21 model year and now only offer the LX. The Prado LC was never imported into the US.
@@CRAPO2011 There are Prado V8's sold in Africa And the Mideast. I think V8's were available in Japan but may not be any longer. From what I read the 4 cylinder Diesel, V6 gas and V8 gas are all mated to the same transmission.
Well Done Scotty. I had an 05 also built in Japan. Bulletproof with ZERO $$ spent over 200,000 miles. Sad day when I sold it with my US condo in Palm Springs but the new owner got a great vehicle. Sooo happy! I now have my 2012 GX with 125,000 kms. Again, not a penny spent. Had a rear suspension air module fail but the dealer fixed it in about an hour - no charge. Fuel mileage is 13.4 l/100 since new combined. Works out to about 21.2 mpg imperial gallons, which is better than my 05 with the 4.7 You’re so right about no rattles or squeaks. So smooth. My daughter just bought a new BMW X5. Besides the upgraded infotainment, I’d take my GX anyday. I run a lot of winter kms up and down our local ski mtn. The traction control system is wonderful for a larger heavy vehicle. I just wish they’d make this model in a hybrid. To finish. If you want a vehicle that will run forever - find a GX. Doesn’t seem to matter what year. They just work. Never used the 3rd row seats. No kids anymore.
Was thinking of buying 2014 GX up here in Canada because half the year is snow, ice and Cold. Plus I want to pull camper or boat next summer. Just curious how much does it cost to fill it with gas??
@jrpat2k2 I've seen quite a few GX470s go 200k with no timing belt replacement. I recently bought one that hadn't had one done in 140k. I did go ahead and get it done though. Toyota dealer only charged $950 for the belt, water pump and tensioner kit. I do pretty much everything else myself. I own 2 right now. One with 190k and the other with 230k. Very little maintenance.
The side swinging back door is a divisive issue, but for taller people it is a godsend being able to load/unload the back without squatting down or bonking your head on the tailgate. If you're over 6'0", once you go for the swinging door you never go back!
I love my 2014 GX 460. It was built by Toyota, has enough room for the whole family and dogs while also having enough HP to pull my tritoon with no issues. The 4-wheel drive is also very handy when you are on a wet boat ramp (the same 4-wheel drive that is in a Toyota Landcruiser Prado).
My dad got 210k miles on his 2015 460 with just oil changes, tires, brakes. He’s rough on vehicles also, not regular oil changes, treats them rough etc. he traded it in just for a newer one. No other reason. He’s on his second 460 now a 21. I got a 18 460 last year. They are great vehicles. Not perfect, the outdated driver display and infotainment annoy me but they are great vehicles.
The surprisingly good handling combined with a Cadillac smooth ride is due to the KDSS. It allows a smooth ride even though it has a sway bar the size of a red bull can. It leaves the sway bar connected when the wheels on one side of the vehicle are compressing at the same time (indicating body roll), but disconnects the sway bar when wheels on the same axle (or just a single wheel) are compressing, indicating a bump. It is purely mechanical- no electronics. Very clever design. Try hitting some speed bumps at 35 mph. It'll be smoother than hitting them at 15 mph. These are actually pretty amazing vehicles, and very capable off-road when you cut the first 5" of plastic off the bottom.
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD Go take a look behind your fairlead. You'll notice the slot in the fairlead mount is the same size as the slot in the fairlead. It should be bigger. Also, the slot is too high, so the rope drags across this sharp edge at a steep angle. The rope isn't supposed to touch anything but the fairlead, and is supposed to do so at a shallow angle. I ground the fairlead slot bigger on the bottom, and also rounded the back edge. The rope no longer makes contact, but the slot is still too high. Take a look and let me know what you see.
Scotty my wife has Lexus es300 just like your wife’s and we have had very few problems for 20 years. Original engine with 260 miles. We change oil with synthetic oil and excellent car. Same color as yours! Watching your channel for years and you have taught me so much! Thank you!
Spot on Scotty! My wife's 2019 GX460 averages around 17 mpg, and rides nice unless you are in a heavy crosswind. The boxy design turns driving into a wrestling match with the steering wheel in crosswinds that are blowing over 20 mph. The second thing that I personally do not like about it is huge monitor that is blindingly bright while backing up at night. Being an analog man in a digital world, I am too dinosaurish to figure out how to dim it...
I can also attest to the crosswind issues… where I live it is very windy… it definitely affects the quality of certain drives I take on occasion, but then again it’s a big rectangle going down the road.
We bought a used CPO 2017 GX460 in 2020 from a Lexus dealer for my wife. I ran it by Scotty first to get his opinion and we bought it after he gave us the 'Scotty seal of approval'. My wife absolutely loves it and of course zero issues. I do like the new GX550 that are replacing it in 2024 despite them getting rid of the V8 and will probably get one a couple of years after they have been out, since I don't want a first year model until they work out any potential bugs.
My SUV may not be what others would call luxury, but for me it is! I've never been able to afford new, my 2011 Ford Escape is the 1st vehicle I've been able to afford the payments on, no cracked windshield, no engine light staying on, and not rips, tears or stains in the seats! Looks brand new. At least put together in America, parts are cheap, and just being a woman who learn to fix her own things on UA-cam, parts aren't pricey and I can do most of it myself!!!
My wife drives a GX 460 and the third row is actually fairly useable. We had two 17 years olds back there over Christmas on an airport run and it was fine. Not much room for luggage with third row up though.
Just upgraded from a 4 runner to the 2023 gx460. Don’t get me wrong 4Runner is a great vehicle but the GX is so much more luxurious. Heater and cooled seats. Even in the back. Feels like a truck but very quiet. Has some balls too. Very low key on the outside. But kinda fancy on the inside. Perfect family vehicle in my opinion.
Bought a certified used one over the summer, 2017 model. Paid 42k and it only had 35k miles. I love the vehicle. The tech sucks but the build quality is outstanding and it will last forever if you take care of it. I’m averaging between 17 and 18 mpg which is okay. Wish I didn’t have to pay for premium gas but small price to pay for such a great engine. I also drove the 4Runner and to me the v8 and refinement are much better in the Lexus.
Must be an honor to have Scotty run over your mailbox. I agree, Toyota should’ve at least kept the V8 as an option for the Tundra like Ford did with the 5.0 engines. Unfortunately it looks like Lexus will be phasing out the V8 as well, but there’s always a possibility as technology is always evolving.
Happy New Year Scotty - I just bought a 2015 RX 350 with 49,000 miles driven, 1 owner. Looks and tests beautiful - hope I made the right choice. Like you, I am not a fan of the more recent front grill look. Got 4 year warranty and maintenance for less than $600 - I think a pretty good deal.
@@andrealmoseley6575 I'm disappointed with the 22-23 MPG however, if I were to buy again I would take a serious look at a new Venza, but other than this, the RX is a beautiful and refined SUV
Only problem with this side open door is that it opens the wrong way for USA buyers.. if you're loading on a city street with curb on right side it's a huge PITA

Handled everything from LA traffic to rocky off road wagon trails. Did it all. Get an old one and fix it. You’re going to save a ton of money and have a car that’s going to outlive you
I think the reason all the car companies are making big grills is so it'll be a sharp contrast to the next gen of electric vehicles, which will have no grills. It'll make people feel like they need to upgrade if they're rolling around with a big grill in 2025 and beyond.
I have 2008 automatic Toyota Prado 120 in Australia with 260,000km. Apart from expendable items, all I have replaced is a water pump and a alternator clutch pulley. Regularly used off road and very reliable.
I can confirm that while the GX is amazing, there were some issues with the older GX470 with the blizzard pearl metallic paint, which was prone to delamination. Otherwise they’re bulletproof. My 2007 GX470 got 16mpg average.
Just bought a new (last one) GX460 - just drove 240 mile round trip for Easter. 20mpg doing 76-84 mph. My 4runner limited I got 17-18 mpg. Yes 87 vs 91 octane but NO Comparison power and comfort. Sorry T4R don't miss you babe

I am looking at the LX and GX. A complaint I hear about that swing open rear door is it swings to the right. In the US, when we park along the street by the curb, we unload to the right. The door is in the way.
Wish they had the same back window like 4runner that comes down. I use to question about the direction of the opening tailgate, but no longer living in large city, don't matter anymore. Lol
Just wanted to point out that Lexus liked to use old designs, except for that grill most of this truck is still same as 2007 model. Lexus can't introduce new tech because it might break so same truck for ever.
I have a 2021 GX, bought it new when the chip shortage was going strong, very lucky to get one. No they don’t give them away but I feel you get what you pay for in this case. I went from a 2007 4runner to the GX. Both cars are engineering masterpieces.
We have owned several American cars in the past. They were nothing not trouble. The last straw was when one computer failed ($4k expense) due to corrosion. The computer was placed under the driver’s seat so when snow melted the computer was getting soaked in water. The engineers could have placed the computer anywhere in the car but under the driver’s seat? So we sold all our American crap cars and replaced it with Lexus. We own now 2 GX460s, Es300h, is350, ct200h, and a lc500. We have never had any issues whatsoever with any of the vehicles. We will never buy American ever again.
I was hunting one of these for several months but I realized I still love my Tundra and don't want to give it up. The gas mileage wouldn't change much. I love Lexus V8s though. If I ever got rid of my Tundra it would be for one of these.
Funny thing you always hear from people who don't buy Camry's is: "they're boring." What I always say to those people is a sarcastic reply of: "Yeah, I know I hate how my car always works."
I was looking at a 2016/17 V6 Camry here in Australia (known in our market as the Aurion - has different front an rear end styling too), but prices became ridiculous for the very low mileage vehicles I was after..remarkably, I ended up with a Nov.2012 MY13 Lexus IS350 Sports Luxury with 87k kms (or about 55k miles). A beautiful car in vermilion red with the light beige interior and top-of-the range spec. Only problem- the stupid roadworthy mechanic badly damaged the driver's door and I'm now one month into what will be a two month process of getting the new door replaced and relevant panels of the vehicle sprayed (due to going through the mechanic's liability insurance and dealing with 3-4 week closure of the panel shop over Christmas/new year period)

I loved this review Scotty. First and foremost because YOU are the reason I bought this vehicle! I got the 2022 , in Nori green, because it is the last year it will have the V8 engine. They will go to the V 6 turbo on this and the LX 600. The 2022 has a few upgrades over the the older model, but mostly in the electronics, ie Apple car play. The vehicle drives much better than my Escalade that was failing at 26,000 miles !
I don't get why you ppl buy brand new....you lose so much as soon as you take it off the lot..and if your caddy only had 26k on it, anything it needed would be under warranty..either way..buying new isn't a good idea...besides, all new cars and trucks are made cheaper.. but they have all that stupid crap in it like the apple car play... people see the technology and don't see that the car or truck isnt made as well as they used to be. They put all that stuff in them to distract you, and sadly, it does..
@@richsweeney1115 I don’t know why I’m even bothering to answer your question but I will. So on the Cadillac. It had problem after problem. When it didn’t develop it’s own problem the mechanics managed to damage things. They busted a windshield when it was brand new, they replaced with a damaged one, had to get it replaced again. Engine not running right , refused to fix. Shudder also never fixed, went to several dealers still no resolution. Doesn’t matter if you have a vehicle under warranty if the dealers where you live suck you are stuck. You go back and forth and your truck is in the shop constantly you have to ask yourself if that aggravation is worth it. There were many other little things going on with it. In this market it was worth selling it and I didn’t take a beating. As you said it’s under warranty and someone wanted to deal with whatever issues it had. I buy new, because I can. If you don’t care for tech in your vehicle that’s a personal choice. I use my Apple car play all the time, every moment I’m in the car and guess what I even have wifi 24-7 in the car , that too is because I can. Why should you care what a person drives or why . Do you also worry about the kind of house a person buys? Does someone need a huge house? Or many acres of land? Or so many clothes or you could just keep going on. You live once and you make your choices based on what you can afford and what your priorities are and you hopefully enjoy the things that you have. I’m thankful and appreciative of the physical things I am able to have. It took me a lifetime to be able to have that ability to buy what I want. If you like buying used enjoy that, it’s fun shopping for a bargain and what you saved go spend on something else. Where I live there are a number of people who go to the John Deere store every other year some even every year and trade their lawn tractor in for a new one. Guess what they loose a ton of money doing that. Then another guy walks in and buys that used tractor and saves. I bought mine 33 years ago and it runs like a Deere! 😂😂😂😂. Believe it or not I am a very frugal person, but I do enjoy buying what I want and can.

I have a 2021, 19k miles love it... reliability and looks is why I traded in my 2014 Jeep SRT for the GX. Jeep looked good, was fun as hell but was an unreliable POS. I loved it, it didn't love me back. Owned 3 4Runners that never went back to dealer. Still have the 2015, I don't think the GX will be any different... so far, so good.
I have been driving Lexus Gx 470 Gx 460, and LX 570 vehicles since 2003 (first year the GX 470 was issued). In my estimation, the original GX 470's were the best of the GX models, nicest interior, much more comfortable 2nd row seating compared to the Gx 460. I felt it was time to try something else, but because I put a lot of miles on my vehicles (32-35K/year), I fear most of the other SUV will be dead after 3 years, while the Lexus keep on running, just put gas and oil in and they keep on rolling. The Lexus also retain their value much better than do the Domestic and German SUV's. So my conundrum, stick with the Lexus, or try a Land Rover, Mercedes GLS, or BMW X-7 and keep my fingers crossed, because they are no where near as reliable as Lexus.
@James-No way, you’ll be sorry. BMWs are all plastic in all the wrong spots, Mercedes is slowly following suit. Plus $250 oil changes, you’d be doing that 6x a year(man you drive a lot of miles!) The GXs are simple, most anyone can work in them. Filters cheap, I know it’s says full syn in the manual but, seriously where these things are located in the far reaches of the earth. I’m pretty sure in a pinch. Conventional is fine too.
@@chongqinghotpot I did my diffs and transfer case at 75000 and I’ll do my trans at 100k. Then just basically keep those intervals up till she gives up the ghost.
You also have a sweet Land Cruiser transmission. I have used my 2014 to do everything from towing 4-5K lbs campers, boats, and trailers to off roading in Colorado. These things can take a beating.
I remember in the early 90s the Toyota Land Cruiser/Lexus LX 450 had a big straight six in it that was a really outstanding engine. It wasn't a Formula 1 engine but it made a lot of low end torque which is what you need on something that big and heavy. Those engines could go 500,000 or more miles if you just changed the oil regularly. Even at about 30 years old those models still have high resale values.
Those engines are terrible. Absolute dogs, and they eat head gaskets for breakfast. There's a reason people LS swap them. I'd be surprised if a single one made it to 500,000 miles without at least 2 head gasket replacements. Now the old Ford 300 i6 engines, or the jeep 4.0, those are bulletproof inline 6 engines...
As I’m reviewing this because I want to get this as my next car, I leased a 2023 Nissan sedan (first time ever with Nissan) brake system failed where the rear brakes were always tight against the discs and Nissan tried to repair it three times until I said that’s enough buy it back. And after a short fight they did. So I’m out of that lease and I’ll stick to Lexus, I have had a 2016 Rx350 and never had any issues.
As a GX and Tacoma owner with over 100k miles, I can attest to how amazing these vehicles are. I'm gonna drive them till the wheels fall off of everyone else's vehicles.
I have a gx470 with over 325,000 miles. It has a few very slow leaks now, but I was told by the mechanic they aren't bad enough to cause problems any time soon. Which is good, because I'm kind of strapped for cash. I bought this thing because I didn't want to get stuck in my driveway anymore, and a 16 year old Lexus is surprisingly cheap.
I bought this for the lady and she grocery haul’s in it doing local stop and go driving and her lead foot averages 13.5 mpg! I took it to Lake Tahoe for a one day snowboarding trip and averaged 21.5 mpg 95% freeway miles.
You cannot go wrong with a Lexus. You can go anywhere without having to worry about repairs and breakdowns. You can focus on more important things in life.
After owning a 2012 GX with only 74k miles on it for a little over a year, I've found them to be nothing special. If you research you'll find they are plagued with some common issues, mine seems to have them all.. Timing chain cover oil leaks, AVS suspension wears out fast (my front struts are shot already), front driveshaft clunks on acceleration and my front diff started to whine last month... Not at all crazy bulletproof like people seem to think.
And don't forget the infamous leaking valley plate. Bought my GX used and two months later I'm losing coolant. Cost $1000 to fix. Now toyotas are reliable but they're not as reliable as some would claim. Getting to 200k with just only oil changes is just false and I've owned plenty of toyotas in my lifetime.
@@mrjjthor some Toyota V8's have the starter placed in the valley requiring the intake manifold to be removed. Also, to change the alternator the power steering pump has to come out. Nightmare jobs.

I’ve got a 2012 GX460. I’m pretty certain it might be one of the best vehicles ever produced. I’ve got 33” tires, 3” lift and a 12000lb winch hidden behind the bumper. They are an absolute BLAST in the woods, it’ll rock crawl with MTS, I’m thinking I might try and put a snowplow on it! Yeah I know, sounds dumb but actually not. Because they just go and go. I was at a Lexus dealership in my town (just getting a wheel speed sensor cable)and they had a GX in the showroom. That had 488,000miles on it. Holy crap! Now that would make a nice long lasting plow rig, right?
Plowing is really harsh on a vehicle, thats why its generally suggested that people should never buy* an ex-plow truck. Plowing is hard on every component of the truck.
@@BullittKid08 I buy ex plow trucks to use them for plowing. That’s why people put plows on trucks, they turn them INTO plow trucks to go do work. Work=money. Money=life. I doubt you’ve plowed much in your life. I dont have a problem with buying a couple of used GX’s from soccer moms with 100,000miles on them when these vehicles were actually designed and engineered for a 30yr service life in very harsh environments. This is a machine, not a baby giraffe.
I’ve had my Silverado for 20 years now and it’s a v8 . I don’t even think about mileage. But I must confess I think about the prices of gas these days.

Does it require premium fuel? What happens if you use 87?

The surprisingly good handling combined with a Cadillac smooth ride is due to the KDSS. It allows a smooth ride even though it has a sway bar the size of a red bull can. It leaves the sway bar connected when the wheels on one side of the vehicle are compressing at the same time (indicating body roll), but disconnects the sway bar when wheels on the same axle (or just a single wheel) are compressing, indicating a bump. It is purely mechanical- no electronics. Very clever design. Try hitting some speed bumps at 35 mph. It'll be smoother than hitting them at 15 mph. These are actually pretty amazing vehicles, and very capable off-road when you cut the first 5" of plastic off the bottom.
yep. KDSS allows for a super stiff sway bar.. then when off roading it completely disconnects... it's awesome and completely underrated!

Spot on Scotty! My wife's 2019 GX460 averages around 17 mpg, and rides nice unless you are in a heavy crosswind. The boxy design turns driving into a wrestling match with the steering wheel in crosswinds that are blowing over 20 mph. Just bought a 2013 Lexus ES 350 with only 30k miles on it. Built in Japan, the paint is outstanding and it drives like a dream. I've never owned a Toyota/Lexus before, but I am a huge fan now.
My old neighbor had a Toyota Camry built in Japan and swore by it. The battery in it, also made in Japan, lasted 13 years.
My wife has an 09 Honda fit 5 spd ,built in Japan.. 200k on it,it's needed a couple small things like tie rod ends and stabilizer links, but that's bc our roads suck.. and it was at about 187k miles..I just put a new battery in it as month ago, the one that was in it was original
These cars are excellent off-road. We have a 2021 model. It is off-road luxury with Toyota reliability. These are Landcruiser Prados. The crisp handling is due to the KDSS system.
I can't believe anyone would pay this money and take it off road...are you fkn kidding me?? That's stupid
@@richsweeney1115 Not stupid, they are really solid. I like to drive my tank on heavy snowstorm, this SUV is ready for all conditions. In addition, hitting potholes with this SUV is no big deal compared to other crossovers.
@@richsweeney1115 it's only stupid if you can't afford it. These are off-road vehicles... overseas they are Landcruiser Prados... one of the world's most common off road vehicles.. the GX460 is very common on off road trails in the USA too
I am looking at the LX and GX. A complaint I hear about that swing open rear door is it swings to the right. In the US, when we park along the street by the curb, we unload to the right. The door is in the way.
Use the pop open window
I noticed that as well. My old Honda CRV opened the same direction and was annoying when trying to load at the curb.
@@wojtekspc 2010, not 2007. 2017 is a GX470, totally different engine+transmission among other things
I have a 2021 GX, bought it new when the chip shortage was going strong, very lucky to get one. No they don’t give them away but I feel you get what you pay for in this case. I went from a 2007 4runner to the GX. Both cars are engineering masterpieces.
I hate the front too. Most be expensive to push/crash something
if you get a GX460 to off road you just cut the bumper!

@@stevemcrichards8768 😂😂😂 I’ve got to remember this line if I hear it when I’m out
What mpg do you get ?
@@stevemcrichards8768 people would rather not be bored but instead stranded on the side of the road or at the dealership. Ill take the camry every time, despite its "boring" reputation.
If its Toyota product and made in Japan, its 100%. If its made in Canada or US, think twice. These vehicles have earned their reputation around the world, because of their reliability, and built quality. They hold their resale value and never betray you.
I personally like the new Lexus front ends, but if this GX had the front number plate fitted (which would be the norm) it looks a lot more balanced.

@@Cocora22 Do you think the extended warranty on GX460 is useful?
The older gx470 felt smoother and better ride quality.
Do you need to have the differential fluids changed for your GX?
@@chongqinghotpot I did my diffs and transfer case at 75000 and I’ll do my trans at 100k. Then just basically keep those intervals up till she gives up the ghost.
I think the GX470 has the most timeless looks but they had more issues than the 460's and the 460 has a better drivetrain in every way.
This is why my grandfather and my dad and my brother’s and I big fan to Toyota and Lexus.
They build the best car quality in market.
I agree that those open front bumpers are hideous, not to mention they crack and get damaged much easier than a regular solid bumper.

Scotty has his followers brainwashed good that Toyota/Lexus is the end-all to all things automotive. More often than not reality is different.

Work=money. Money=life.
