That spinning tunnel thing tripped me out so bad as a kid. I was scared of it beforehand because I'd seen it in an ad or brochure or something. But was equally scared of it after. lol
Fun fact I rode on the last tram ride of Kongfrontation Orlando before it shut down for good in the early 90’s . Was one of the last people to ever experience it , in the entire world. So you could kinda say , I’m special . 😆 Loved the banana smell they pumped into the air on that ride

We totally agree with you about their hype.
It does say that the train would remain in its stationary location. As someone who has seen the real version years ago, I think it would be stupid to have bells and alarms sounding and the train is stationary. I'm guessing universal realized that.
I remember I always enjoyed watching actual movie sets and props. Now they try to trick you, like with the Lyon Estates signs. I understand the rides, but I personally prefer seeing actual movie and TV stuff.

Modern effects are supposed to be better but having been on the collapsing bridge 8 or so times, it’s superior to the current kong attraction (RIP original Kong). I remember the prop center with Huge telephone, I also remember a Hulk demonstration there also. I believe they would pick a kid out of the audience to save a man stuck under a truck. Of course the kid couldn't lift it so the Hulk would "lift" the truck and the guy would slide out. You could stay in that center for a while and if the tram left another would come in a few minutes...

I'm sure just like everything else it was cheaper to make it an open space - no paid actors, no props, no stunt men, etc... Terminator 2 was good too and the lasers and the actors they had. Well i think i did see the best of Universal studios on my only visit. I was in Santa Monica a few times but i only went there once for some reason. I think it's because i couldn't drive on the other side of the road in the USA being from England and i got the bus a few times which took me hours just to the Hollywood sign. I wish i did that Warner bros set too and see all them places that have now been removed but you learn about things easier now having the internet but i do regret missing out on that one

When my family wouldn’t go on vacation to California going to Universal Studios would be the highlight of my trip over Disneyland because of the tram tour they took me when I was a baby in 1978 for the first time and I can remember how awesome and long that tram tour was in the early 80s. It’s a shell of what it used to be now unfortunately

I think that Big shark prop is the original as in that video I uploaded yesterday, I have a picture of it and it looks the same as that one apart from the frame work. I think it was near the entrance in 2005
I see the trams don’t go into the water either now, I was so lucky on my only ever visit to see what I did. I got that on my first ever digital camera with my small memory card. Do you know why they stopped the tram going into the river? I hope they drive over the bridge again in the future. I still think my visit in 2005 is better in what people are seeing now, just like the 80s films are better too :)

Have to say, it seemed pretty lame. I did the tour back in the mid 80’s, and it was better than this version. I would have loved to see Jurassic Park and they could have done more with Back to the Future area.
They couldn't do much with the "Back to the Future area" because it's being rented out by two television shows right now. The time machine is easy to move out during filming.
I been there at least 15 times between the 80's and early 90's. by my judgement of the your video, they were very lazy in their effort in trying to recreate the exciting tour they once had
Thank you for being honest. This reeks of a cheap seasonal pop-up. The prop plaza should have had the talking KITT KNIGHT RIDER car , liftable A-Team van, the E.T. bike , A PRACTICAL King Kong photo op (like we had in the 1980s) and my god that was actually a SMALLER hanging Jaws shark than the one they tore out of the upper lot ten years ago (that never had a line) . This "prop plaza" was just a few photo op lines. The only surviving prop was that shopping cart (thank you for pointing that out because it's the only nostalgic part). And of course, no runaway train. No collapsing bridge. Just a lot of BS. I wish I could say I am surprised but UNI has not been the same in decades. Your review was quite fair.
This looks horrible. Sorry, but for the prices they charge to get into this park…..this tour looked even less than what a normal tour is. I will never go to Universal again. Just more money for less return.

They stopped going through the parting of the Red Sea in 2016. I lived that effect, it was a classic from the 60’s or 70’s.
The Red Sea was permanently closed due to new soundstages being built in the area. The Collapsing Bridge was decommissioned and will not be reopened.
