"Bring Back The Peoplemover." Not to date myself but I remember Disneyland just before the Matterhorn was built and walking through the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea exhibit. Great watch, The 80's -- best decade ever, great music and movies.

I got lost there. I was hungry and tired. I circled around but couldn't find my family. I started to panic. I sat at a curb, tears in my eyes watching other families, together. Suddenly an older woman, park employee, asked if I needed help. I told her what happened. She motioned to me to follow her. We went to a building, the door opened, followed by another set of doors. "My family!!!!" We were together again 😊And then I heard the words, "Boy, if you ever get lost again, believe you me!" I think I was 26 at the time. 😎

I’m an eastern U.S. guy who grew up throughout the 80’s and 90’s, so I visited Walt Disney World a few times growing up. I’ve now lived just a few miles north of Disney in Orlando for 26 years. My mom saves everything, and recently showed me receipts from our first trip in 1987. One-day one-park tickets were just $33. You pay about that, $30, just for parking today. Crazy! Have been to the parks out west a few times though. There are so many things I wish they’d bring back or just utilize altogether at Disneyland. So many opportunities there. Especially for updated throwbacks. On the People Mover/Rocket Rods, that’s a whole long story in itself. The Rocket Rods basically damaged the track there because the speed/torque of the vehicles was too much. It’s my understanding that ever since they haven’t been able to even use it for the People Mover again, and it would be too expensive to fix. So it just sits derelict. No idea why the Captain EO/Honey, I Shrunk the Audience theater isn’t being used. What a waste. I miss the Skyway at the park here in Florida, just like the one out west. That I think mainly went away for two reasons. One, safety. And two, it wasn’t ADA compliant, and people in wheelchairs and with other disabilities couldn’t ride it.

Taking pictures was expensive back then the film and then the developing , after all that sometimes some of the pictures didn’t come out.
Plus the band that I played in as a kid (14/15) played on the Tomorrow land stage, our drummer / lead singer was a well known child actor. We had a blast.

Your photo guess is pretty accurate. The bricks however were placed in the late 90s on Main Street due to too many individuals slipping on the slick red concrete when it got wet. Fun fact...in front of the old cigar shop, buried below the bricks is a mayonnaise jar with a "mikey" name tag (mine), a signed $20 bill and a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card. Wonder if it's still there...

If you look at 8:41 it shows the start of the people mover and that big “shrinking machine” . It gives the illusion that all the people shrink going thru that tube on the people mover. As a kid I thought that was so cool. But as I got older I realized the people mover went around the shrinking machine all out of view of everyone. At least the Pirates are real.

80's to mid 90's was the best imo. The Atomic age used to be called the Cosmic Age when my family stayed there. It was fantastic, there was a restaurant on site , and a “ secret “ hole in the fence which let directly into the Disneyland parking lot which in the mornings would cut your time to Main St. in half. So many memories in that hotel, as well as the Candy Cane Inn. Another great 80’s hotel for Disneyland guests. So many memories

My best memories of the Carousel of Progress building was when it was "America Sings(74-88)", and yeah, Disney has a real issue with leaving buildings empty. Many of the America Sings animatronics ended up in Splash Mountain as repurposed figures, so they didn't completely go to waste. In Florida of course WDW has as much room as they'll ever need to build new things, while Disneyland needs every inch. So why they leave so many buildings unused, that could help give high capacity days places for people to spread out more is beyond me.The Starcade Arcade was one of my favorites anywhere, as I grew up in So Cal and there was always great arcades everyplace you went, but Disney's was still one of the best.

As far as the old People Mover track, I believe they kicked around the idea of bringing a version of it back, but the track is no longer up to building codes to support a ride and passengers. I first went to DL in the 70s! the teacups still there?

Yes, teacups are still there. They moved them over about 50 feet but it's the same ride. Fantasyland has been refurbished and some rides updated but it's much the same as it was back then.

I think the first time I went to Disneyland was in 1984 or 85, and the next time was in 2005, things had already changed dramatically, and I didn't recognize anything from my first visit, if I went today I am sure it would be all different again.

How many videos you got in the bag bro? Just seen you with the Woo today and last time you were with him, took a couple months for your video to come out. Granted it was the big pee-wee project. I was expecting a warner brothers video from you next. Lol

Whoa whoa whoa! You can’t talk about innoventions and not America Sings. A bunch of the characters in America Sings ended up in Splash Mountain, but some of the singing chicken internal robotics became the actual robots inside Star tours queue fixing droids, including the original feet, painted to the blues and silvers of the robots.
