      XF16 1.4, XF16-55 and XF50-140 are faultless... XF16-55 is permanently on X-T4, cheers for the Canon 10-18 opinion, was thinking about getting that one to use with Fringer Pro 2, while were there Canon 18-135 is awesome, and it has a power zoom module with it..

    Thanks for the video, Pascal.
    I shoot fully manual, hand held video.
    I really love shooting with the set of Rokinon lenses in X mount. They're VERY fast, with lovely focus rings that turn smooth like butter, and give beautiful bokeh. And they're much lighter than Rokinon's full frame equivalent.
    23, 1.4, 35 1.2, 50 1.2, 85 1.8---as well as the 12mm 2.0---a great set, wonderful fun to shoot.

    Hey Pascal! A lot of information comes from you video! I got X-S10 with 15-45mm kit lens. I'm looking for something brighter, for low light conditions. Thinking about Sigma 16mm 1.4. Most of the time I'm shooting vlog style videos, nothing professional and this one looks like a bang for the buck! Do you have any experience with that lens specific? Second of all, I'm shooting in continuous autofocus with eye-tracking. When I put my sunglasses on, the camera starts to lose focus a lot. Maybe setting autofocus to the center will be a better idea in vlogs? Greetings from Poland!

    I use the 16-80mm f4 kit lens, the zoom range is very good, the auto focus is good and fast (sometimes faster than needed) , the only problem is the high app of F4 , it doesn't preform well in low light, and the background is not very creamy.
    my dream lens will be 8-80mm f1.4 , no manufacturer makes lenses from super wide to extreme close-up , and even if they do, it will be not less than 1500$.

    I've heard the 16-55 has trouble when pulling focus manually, even if the camera is set to linear mode. Is it easy to get smooth pulls or will the lens jump quickly from close to infinity?
    I'm thinking of getting one as an all-in-one lens because the 18-35 is really heavy and long with adapters.

    • @AtomicPixel
      @AtomicPixel 2 роки тому

    I unfortunately chose to sell my Sigma 18-35, loved that lens, but boy is that focus noisy. Hopefully it wasn't just a problem with my Fringer adapter, but I'm moving on to the 16-55! I've had so many split decisions between this zoom and a set of primes, but I think the 16-55 will be worth it for how much video I'm now doing on top of photography.

I also picked up the Viltrox 23mm after seeing some of your sample footage but noticed on my video shots, there was some "warping" or "wobbling" in the frame when using IBIS. Have you noticed this before? I tried to look at your footage at 03:45 but wasn't sure if you were using IBIS or not. It's not completely unusable but I was more concerned with having a new but faulty body/lens so I could exchange it if necessary. Thanks for the help! :)

    thank you for this video. Im contemplating again to enter the Fujisystem. I am in the Canon world since 2006 & if not for this video I would not have come across that Fringer adaptor. Always thought there was no way for my EF & EF-S lenses or even the Sigma to get it to work on a Fuji camera. This certainly pushed me closer to entering the Fujisystem which I deemed years ago would be a redundancy for me since again Im on the Canon APS-C world since then (no plans ever for FF since Im just an enthusiast/hoobyist).
    I do have a question> Can the Fringer adaptor literally adapt all the other EF-S lenses (like 18-135mm; 24mm; 55-250mm)? Again thank you for this video.

    It is now September 2021 and the 18-35 Sigma may be offered with a native X mount now that Fuji has relented and is allowing other brands of lenses to be made. They are rumors right now but very strong rumors. The 18-35 Sigma is one awesome lens and not having to use an adapter will make that lens a bit shorter on a Fuji X mount.

    • @professionalpotato4764
      @professionalpotato4764 2 роки тому

      I too hope for an X-mount. But knowing Sigma they will most likely work on E-mount (their biggest customer) version first. Only problem is Sony doesn't have any reliable APS-C/S35 pro camera that isn't overshadowed by the A7S3/FX6 (at least in terms of popularity/hype). Until the day Sony makes a new S35 cine or pro-body APS-C camera that has similar specs to GH6 and XT4, I doubt we'll see a new S35/APS-C lens from Sigma.
      In my opinion, they should just totally make a 16-33mm f/1.8 or f/2, weather sealed, silent motor, with mechanical focus. I really hate the modern fly by wire systems.

      Depends on the camera. With the X-T4 you can do it as long as you set the focus point on the head as face tracking doesn't always work perfectly. Also, if you do manual, better use a higher aperture, like F2.8 or F4 to be save when the person moves a bit.

      @Eyeofkamau Рік тому

      @@pascalbasel I used to think and say the same! But just a few weeks ago, Fuji released updates for a few lens including the 16-55 and 16-80 which fixed focus and exposure tracking while zooming during filming, so focus is great and the change in exposure is subtle & gradual rather than a abrupt step. I updated my 16-55 and there is a huge difference, it’s amazing.
      For footage, check of Cinedailies video “my favorite lenses for video” where he shows his 16-55 no stepping while zooming (with the new firmware of course).
      Turns out, it was always a limitation of the lens. If it can’t be fixed in other lenses, hopefully fuji makes this the standard for their future lenses.

    Love your reviews Pascal. I've read alot of lensmoaners complaining about extreme distorsion at 16mm and 55mm and heavy vignetting, what is your opinion on this having used the 16/55 for a long time? Is it really an issue or just typical lensmoaning that truly does not matter for video?

    • @pascalbasel

      Thanks, I shoot mostly video, which cuts off the top and bottom of the sensor because of the 16:9 ratio. So vignetting and distortion is less noticeable. Also there is in-camera processing going on, what likely fixes those issues directly. For raw photos I don't care about such things as they can easily be fixed in post.
