I’ve shot on nothing but a Canon 6D and RP for three years. I’ve really been feeling compelled to switch to something fresh and something with better quality video. I also have grown to love the Fuji color science over Canon
I think it's either between this or the Lumix S5. From what I've gathered, the auto focus is better here, as well as in low light, yet the S5 has unlimited record time. Still learning towards this, since it'll be used for my B-cam at weddings, and the record time shouldn't be an issue.

Hi Kai .. Question At time 7:28 in your video while comparing the GH5 and the XT4, why is there a colour difference between the two? The GH5 colour is very nice and pleasing to the eye .. while the XT4 video looks dull in comparison. Is it because of the sensor differences or differences in colour sciences, or is it because of edits and colour correction during processing the videos? Also wanted to ask which of the cameras produced a more realistic colour? Please do reply. Love your videos. Hope everyone is safe. Lots of love from India.
@@tmrtyn Thank you. I just read my question I asked Kai again and I really didnt make sense. It is true that colour from both the cameras could be colour corrected according to the liking of the shooter. But in this video the video of the GH5 looks much better in comparison to the XT4. Much appreciated for the reply T.Knight.
Are they going to have pixel shifting so we can get a 100mp still is what I want to know. I'd never need anything else then. Currently have an X-T3 kit and a Nikon FF kit. Too much gear.
I am a Leica shooter. I got The XT 3 and sold it for a XPro 2 and a few lenses and then I got the XPro 3 the day it came out. Love them both. But I am partial to my M246 and M10. They are all my babies.
The a6600 has a smaller buffer than the a6500, but that's probably a good thing. The Samsung NX1 did pull off 15fps, though. It should be said, that while the full frame cameras aren't much more, once you start adding in lenses the extra expense can pile up. I haven't looked exclusively at Fuji lenses, so take that with a grain of salt. Just something to think about.
Oh hey, that "professional sprinter" is Usman from Sonder Creative, his channel is great. He had an excellent review of the Hasselblad 907X and CFVII where he was doing a shoot for Billingham. The guy is legit. Obviously he also has some content about the X-T4 as you would expect seeing as he was at the event. More serious tone than Kai's stuff but very high production values and good perspectives from a working pro.
I looked at the pictures I took in 2013, old camera, first OMD EM5, slow lenses. THe images are pleasing and stellar. I switched to a newer camera, faster lenses and the results with the new camera are neither any better or more pleasant. Just working on a best images album, and none of my recent shots with my new gear made it there. Time, consideration taken for a shot, inspiration and the photographer skills are what matters. Sorry Tech geeks, this is bad news for you!!!
Hello Kai and everyone else reading this. I have a question for you. I want to buy a (full frame, most probably) mirrorless camera buy I absolutely do not care about video recordings or the video capabilities of the camera. So, are there any cameras that focus* only or mostly on photo shootings and it's qualities and which you may suggest? Thank you greatly!
Hello Kai …. Would you recommend XT4 with 16-80mm R OIS WR Kit lens for Streetphotography and for daily use ? I’m from India 🇮🇳 and it’s very hot and humid and dusty too almost although the year… so I’ve to ditch the weather. Need your advice 🙏🙏
I would choose Fuji over Sony for APS-C just because of the X vs. E lens lineups. If your going to have to pay for Sony's nice FE series lenses you might as well go full frame.
Hit the nail on the head. Small lightweight bodies with small lens feels perfectly fine. I love my X100F. If it had any lens bigger than what's on it, however, we'd have a problem.
I have this camera.. it is an absolute beast. It can compete with and full frame under $4000. When it comes to video, nothing in its price range can even come close. The 400 mbps all intra is a feature you cannot find in any camera for this price range. If you're considering buying this camera... BUY IT. The only down side is that this camera requires a V90 sd card if you want to shoot video at 400 mbps. With V90 cards you pay at least $1.25 per gb
Very capable camera, well built too. But, it just doesn't have the video capabilities of the XT3 or XT4, the sensor is a bit old and the AF is slightly worse. The Canon M6ii and Z50 are not in the same league as the XT3, XT4 or A6500. They're more in the XT30, A6400 category.
It doesnt matter how good the Z50 is. The last time nikon made high quality optics for its APS-C cameras was like 15 years ago. Unless you are an absolute beginner with who wants a point and shoot camera with f5.4 or slower optics you are fine. Or in the case you are going to mount it on dslr super tele lenses.
A lot of people choose the fuji because of the colours (especially in JPEG) are better (IMO) than Sony's. Yes Sony's can be sharper in general, but they lean towards the blue side of the colour spectrum, which leaves a lot of photos looking cold and flat. Having previously owned a Sony A77 and D610, the dials and menu's on my Fuji XT-3 are a joy to use. Plus the Fuji just looks cooler IMO.
I got the a6600 and love it, after carrying around a Canon 7Dmkii and a 200d for video, I'm a lot happier having one camera do both and my Camera bag only weighs 6.5kg. I find after a couple of weeks I feel better not carrying a bunch of weight around. The a6600 handles great too, point, focus and click the Sony is much faster than either of my two Canon DSLR's I don't want to go into a long post but its a great camera I would be happy with the Fuji too. I'm not hung up on brand loyalty whomever has the best camera to fill my needs gets the money.
Thanks for the great review Kai -yes for me the biggest problem is price which puts it into direct competition with FF. Its a nice sentiment saying get the camera that works for you the reality is you will get more of the photos you want with FF-I have 100s of good photos that would be great photos if I had a FF.Also the lack of 3rd party lenses is a negative.
Cheers Kai. I think you just saved me several thousand pounds! I have an XT3 and many lenses but as an enthusiast doing everything from portraits to sports, maybe, just maybe, I already have all the kit I need and a full frame kit won't actually help......
I remember watching some Lee Zavitz videos on youtube regarding using canon lenses on the fujifilm x-t4 with the fringer pro ii adapter. Might want to check that out. Do you have existing canon lenses already, is that why?
I have not looked at cameras since I bought my X-T1 on release with the 14mm and 35mm. I can't decide if I should get this or a new lens. But, that 16MP sensor is showing its age.
@@sebastiaanvanwater So true about the XQD. They are painful on the wallet, but are super fast and reliable. As for the screen I don't mind since I don't blog.
I paid around $900 for my a6600 brand new off b&h, and the xt-4 is $1700 right now. For the price of the xt-4 I've already bought 2 sigma lenses, the a6600, and a couple of vintage lenses. In my situation, the a6600 just made more sense.
That’s a trick question, none of the cameras you showed in that photo were the a6600! The a6600 has a different shaped grip and a little oval shaped bit of plastic in the grip that runs vertical, not like the other a6X00 cameras that have a similar, but smaller, oval shaped bit of plastic near the top of the grip placed horizontally.
Maybe I sound too naive, but some of us like to do video without having the slightest intention of filming ourselves. Thus, the tiltable screen of the XT3 is a better choice. I truly don't understand what all the fuss is about. I find it difficult to believe that vloggers are going to go for something that much bigger than a phone. I've had an XT3 for a few months now and it works wonderfully for my needs.
I always liked Your videos, style and humour and above all realistic reviews. That being said every time I watch Your camera reviews all I am thinking is: don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it... :)
Do we worry about sensor temp in 4k video mode? I saw a video where someone measured this and was quite alarmed. Is that nonsense and stuff not to be worried about or a genuine concern. Serious question because I have no idea, just because a camera can do 4k is uncool if using it frequently harms the sensor and impacts life of the camera or still IQ etc.
I take landscape photos the X-T30, which isn't weather-sealed. If it ever stops working because of moisture I'll upgrade to the X-T4, or maybe the X-T5 will be out by then.

Keep in mind that the X-T4 weighs 610g, while the X-H1 weighs 673g and has a much more comfortable grip. It's a no brainer.
😂😂 your humor is great with the reviews, thank you!
Anyone else like me and still shooting on the Fujifilm X-T4 in 2024? 📸🙋🏻♀
It’s always a good day when there is a new video from you!
I’ve shot on nothing but a Canon 6D and RP for three years. I’ve really been feeling compelled to switch to something fresh and something with better quality video. I also have grown to love the Fuji color science over Canon
Every time this guy says camera it sounds like he is saying Karen, and it’s hilarious!
Thanks for clearing that up 🤣
Haha I noticed that
OH MYYYYY KKKK
"Get the Karen that has the right features that you want!"
A Karen you can grip with all 5 fingers 🤣😂
This may be the best camera review I've ever seen. Definitely the funniest. Well do sir! I was already leaning towards the X-T4 but I'm sold now
I started my channel a year ago and this whole time I’ve been using my iPhone 13 Pro Max. But I’m starting to consider this Fuji Xt4 🤔
I think it's either between this or the Lumix S5. From what I've gathered, the auto focus is better here, as well as in low light, yet the S5 has unlimited record time. Still learning towards this, since it'll be used for my B-cam at weddings, and the record time shouldn't be an issue.
price point is why I went with X-T3 with a fantastic kit lens at a phenomenal price. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
2nd fujifilm camera for me. 1st from the x-T line. I'm feeling I won't want to ever upgrade from this. Lovely camera. Fuji's are really fun to use. The X-T and X100 lines are all aesthetically pleasing as well.
“Not Private” now ! :)
Yaaaa
Yea thought about that too
You have such a great personality. So fun to listen too while getting information.
I just bought the X-T4 the other day. It definitely feels great in the hands.
I had the x-t1 for a few years and upgraded to x-t3 last year. Couldn’t help myself with upgrading to the x-t4 which I’ve had for a week now and I LOVE it. The shutter is smoother, that IBIS, and video quality. 👌🏼
About to trade in all my Nikon Dslr gear and get the XT4. I was considering the A6600, but the prices for Sony lenses are astronomical.
You are awesome bro! love watching your reviews, always get some good laughs along the way.. X-T4, Sold to the man in the Ollie suit..
Kai on form here with a good and concise review with just a few witticisms thrown in.
I need the Fuji camera 📸 now 😭💕 Amazing video by the way 😘
Really considering the move to Fuji. Waiting for the R6 announcement though
Jase literally only the same boat
Wait what’s the R6??
Brendan Fitness and Money canons new announcement coming July 11 if I believe it will be released with the r5, it will have the same sensor as the 1dx mark 2
Now that I have the X-T4 I won’t be needing another camera for many many years to come. It’s really that good.
Honestly most cameras in this decade are really impressive the tech we have it’s impossible to blame our selves
This is the camera I plan to buy and have been waiting impatiently for your comments Kai
My man, you look like Tears for Fears circa 85 lol love it
Smallrig has a piece for the a6600 that puts the mic off to the side, thus freeing up a clear area for the flip screen. And it's cheap, like $15
Thanks for the helpful review! Would you recommend the XT4 or the Canon EOS R for simple talking head UA-cam videos. I am hoping to create a great cinematic look to the videos. Thanks!
Hi Kai ..
Question
At time 7:28 in your video while comparing the GH5 and the XT4, why is there a colour difference between the two?
The GH5 colour is very nice and pleasing to the eye .. while the XT4 video looks dull in comparison.
Is it because of the sensor differences or differences in colour sciences, or is it because of edits and colour correction during processing the videos?
Also wanted to ask which of the cameras produced a more realistic colour?
Please do reply.
Love your videos.
Hope everyone is safe.
Lots of love from India.
Looks like that clip was filmed using F-log (Fuji's flat video profile). Don't worry Fuji colours are gorgeous.
I got
The XT 3 and sold it for a XPro 2 and a few lenses and then I got the XPro 3 the day it came out. Love them both. But I am partial to my M246 and M10. They are all my babies.
I have been WAITINGGG for this. Thank you!
Not sure if you’re testing us but I counted at least half a dozen different hair styles. I’m OCD so I notice strange things like that.
Your "Toneh" is a little extreme for my taste.
I love that this is a thing now.
Boke Bros -> Tone Bros
More serious tone than Kai's stuff but very high production values and good perspectives from a working pro.
which one is best for low light ?
I looked at the pictures I took in 2013, old camera, first OMD EM5, slow lenses. THe images are pleasing and stellar. I switched to a newer camera, faster lenses and the results with the new camera are neither any better or more pleasant. Just working on a best images album, and none of my recent shots with my new gear made it there. Time, consideration taken for a shot, inspiration and the photographer skills are what matters. Sorry Tech geeks, this is bad news for you!!!
Very true, but for those less savvy when it comes to shutter speed, light, apature...for video i go with sony, stills I give it to fuji.
One other significant difference: Fuji glass! Yum!
What would you take though, Sony a7iii or Fuji xt4? 🤷♀️
I'm debating that. It's so difficult
And what about Nikon Z50 compared to this?
It doesn't have IBIS unfortunately.
Z50 doesn’t have the awful x-trans sensor so that’s a big plus. Also, it’ll take nice full frame lenses.
@@EnterSpacebar The sensor, the processor and the focus system of X-T3 and X-T30 are the same!!!!
Thank you for this nice video! How do you think the X-T4 is going to do now that the X-T5 is out?
A lot of people choose the fuji because of the colours (especially in JPEG) are better (IMO) than Sony's. Yes Sony's can be sharper in general, but they lean towards the blue side of the colour spectrum, which leaves a lot of photos looking cold and flat. Having previously owned a Sony A77 and D610, the dials and menu's on my Fuji XT-3 are a joy to use. Plus the Fuji just looks cooler IMO.
What about Canon colors?
I got the a6600 and love it, after carrying around a Canon 7Dmkii and a 200d for video, I'm a lot happier having one camera do both and my Camera bag only weighs 6.5kg.
I find after a couple of weeks I feel better not carrying a bunch of weight around.
The a6600 handles great too, point, focus and click the Sony is much faster than either of my two Canon DSLR's I don't want to go into a long post but its a great camera
I would be happy with the Fuji too.
I'm not hung up on brand loyalty whomever has the best camera to fill my needs gets the money.
between Sony A7III and Fujifilm XT-4 which one will you choose?
X-T3
Canon
Thanks for the great review Kai -yes for me the biggest problem is price which puts it into direct competition with FF. Its a nice sentiment saying get the camera that works for you the reality is you will get more of the photos you want with FF-I have 100s of good photos that would be great photos if I had a FF.Also the lack of 3rd party lenses is a negative.
I got the M6 II and two of the sigmas 1.4s. Those lenses of fujis would be amazing.
Sorry but if your photos are good, they would still be just good with full frame. A new sensor doesn’t make you a better photographer.
Cheers Kai. I think you just saved me several thousand pounds! I have an XT3 and many lenses but as an enthusiast doing everything from portraits to sports, maybe, just maybe, I already have all the kit I need and a full frame kit won't actually help......
Sir I want buy xt-4 and use canon lenses using adapter....so does it work perfectly with canon lenses or it has limitations ?
I remember watching some Lee Zavitz videos on youtube regarding using canon lenses on the fujifilm x-t4 with the fringer pro ii adapter. Might want to check that out. Do you have existing canon lenses already, is that why?
@@pcphotography9108 No sir Im planning to buy xs10 ...why I want to use canon lenses is only because fuji lenses are expensive.
I have not looked at cameras since I bought my X-T1 on release with the 14mm and 35mm. I can't decide if I should get this or a new lens. But, that 16MP sensor is showing its age.
The xt1 is still a very good camera.
After looking at multiple cameras for weeks now, this review helped me choose the Fuji over the Sony and Lumix! Thanks fella 👌
I’d get a Z6 , the video is not cropped and the 1.8 lenses are outstanding . Still the Xt4 is a dope camera .
Yep, I love my Z6.
No fully articulated screen though and I hate those pricey XQD cards.
But aside from that, all good. :)
Though not as cheap as the Panasonic hx870 I picked up for £3. Got to love shops who don't know what they are doing.
Fuji lenses are also more expensive, vary in focus speed and there are no third party lenses, altough fuji just opened it up.
I also agree that for photos especially from the hip the tilt screens are much better. But I LOVE to be able to close the screen fully…
I'm wondering if Fuji updated the X-T4 firmware in the last few months? That may have improved the continuous autofocus to equal Sony and/or Canon?
Not yet unfortunately
Ok guys! As a music video guy who only shoots about 1 photoshoot a month, should I get the GH5, X-T4, or the S1?
I NEED ANSWERS!
Did u sell ur comb to buy that awesome camera? :D
“…skinny-a** witch hands…” 😂
I *love* your videos, Kai!
Thanks for reviewing this camera
-I want one!
Main reason to choose Fujifilm over others is that retro feel and colour profiles.
Thanks for the vid, but WOW I think your rate of speech broke a land speed record this time. Somewhere to go? 😂👍🏼
i had to turn on subtitles to help understand most of it
Panasonic G9 has excellent fusion of stills and photo. And you already have a bunch of M4/3 lenses!
I love my X-T4! 👍🏻
your hair looks amazing
Would the XT-4 be good for landscape photos/videos on mountain hikes?
I don't really follow you for cameras anymore, Kai. I follow you for the random sneaky shades you throw
