I found my poor sweet big brother dead in his bed on 9/11/20. That was the most devastating day of my life. I don’t remember the first few days after. But the Sunday after I put on my brave face and went to clean out his room and get it ready to be emptied. For some reason the moment I opened his door this song came into my head. I hadn’t thought about or heard it in literal years but there it was strong and clear every note and lyric. I burst into tears with the perfection of how exactly it captured what I’m going through. Thanks Cardigans. My brother loved this song when we were teens. We both did.
I relate to this in some way. I've found my brother dead in his bed when he was 16 and I was 11 turning 12. It happened on July 5th 2001. Hardest day of my life. He and I absolutely love The 90s and early 2000s music. Every time a familiar song like this pops up I swell with tears because I know he's thinking of me too. I sure miss my brother.
After hearing the lackluster cover, I had to hear the original. The singer in the parade lacked the finesse and expression portrayed by the Cardigans' lead singer (name escapes me).

This is one of 2 songs of theirs that I've heard of the radio for decades now, but I never knew anything about them or even what they looked like. You know how you have an image of someone in your mind and when you finally see them, you're disappointed? Well this song has been rattling around my head for a couple days now so today I finally decided to check it out on UA-cam. I must say that I'm pleasantly surprised. This doll is every bit as beautiful as I thought she'd be. It's just too bad that it took me so long to check them out. After listening to more of their music, I'm impressed! Why did I take so long? I've robbed myself of their awesome music all these years!
I have so many memories of my mom driving my brother and i to pre school while this played on the radio. Seems like the sun shined a bit brighter back then...

I was a kid when this song was a huge, worldwide success. I remember myself as a kid watching this video an thinking ''that girl is really pretty'' and now, more than 2 decades later, I still find the blue in those eyes deeper than the Baltic sea. One of the most catchy hits from the 90s, so fresh that people still enjoy it well into 2021...as the other day I realized in my job, when the radio started playing it and my workmates starting moving their heads at its contagious rythm.
I remember being around 5-6 when I watched the video on TV and was blown away - this song got me into the native-English speaking pop and alternative (im an eastern european). Unforgetable melody, video, composition, lyrics and vocals

i feel like girls can relate to this more than justin’s version, not because of the singer being a girl, but because of the hypnotizing melody, & the vibe.
I was 19 when this came out and I was one of those snobby pseudo-intellectual shits who took the vast majority of what was current and/or mainstream for granted and wrongfully devalued it. I saw the video for this on MTV which was an immediate strike against it for me. The only new groups in pop music I liked at the time were Jamiroquai, Erykah Badu and the Roots. How I didn't like this is beyond me. It's brilliant on so many levels. This is a cautionary tale for snide young hipsters who discredit anything that comes out of a mainstream source solely on the fact that it did. It's no more valid to dislike something based on popularity than it is to like it based on popularity. Really listen to the music and ignore the politics.
***** I was born in '77. (Hiking up the trousers) And yeah, in the '90s, as a teenager, i HATED 1980s music. However, I loved a lot of '60s and '70s music. But these days I have a long list of 80s music that I not only love but also know inside and out, musically. I worked for years as a pretty gainfully employed guitar teacher and the only thing that kept me employed was my willingness to have an open mind and teach people anything they wanted to learn. It was a huge eye opener (or ear opener) to tons of music for me. I still play gigs and I get by in a relatively small college town by the same principle.
not to be a snob but pop music back then was so much better anyway, 90s and especially 80s pop was great now the radio is filled with stuff that sounds the same and is as simplistic as possible because people's ears are lazy
This song was playing in the hospital when my dad was getting airlifted. I can’t hear this song without a tear coming into my eye. I miss him so much ❤️
I’ve thought that too, except the fact is this sounds much better than most songs today. If this were released in 2022, it would totally win Grammys and top world charts
I was a 90s girl so songs like this are exactly what I listened to when I got some from school. Back in the good ole days where MTV and Vh1 actually showed music videos most of the day and the only 2 reality shows anywhere on tv were The Real World and Road Rules
My wife loved this song. I come back and listen to it every so often, it's like she's still right here with me. I can practically see her dancing in circles in the kitchen begging me to dance with her.
I was 9 on a vacation trip of summer ‘97, even myself realized it was something new and cool, and it fit great with the vibes of the beach at night having dinner with my parents at the hotel lobby, sunburnt, and a very hot island even at night 🏝 i remember feeling cool cause we were at the bar and i was almost 9, lol
This song brings me into happy tears. My mom put it on so often, it was a happy song for us. Every time I hear it I feel as I´m a child again. Forever grateful for my mom bringing me up in Russia together with MTV channel with such a good music
This was a very underrated song I heard it on the radio one night it took me 2 years to find out who the group was who sung been listening to it ever since it's a truly great song.
Funnily enough, I didn't know this song was a major hit until I just randomly discovered the CD at a local music shop. I then looked for a music video and was surprised
my youngest son (16) surprised me by knowing this jam. I grew up as a kid and teen in the 90s...and they know pretty much all by music (i stay back in the day🤷♀️ can't help myself.)

I love the drumming. The tone is crisp yet soft enough at the same time to go with the vibe of the band's sound.
Love this song! Thank you mom for bringing me up in the 90s to music like this!
i feel like girls can relate to this more than justin’s version, not because of the singer being a girl, but because of the hypnotizing melody, & the vibe.
But when did I ask

Senior 2727 I’m a MANLY MAN, I DONT LIKE THIS SONG...most of the time...
Here
I was 19 when this came out and I was one of those snobby pseudo-intellectual shits who took the vast majority of what was current and/or mainstream for granted and wrongfully devalued it.

Somehow, yeah, it seems I did. At least in regards to music.

I was born in '77. (Hiking up the trousers)
And yeah, in the '90s, as a teenager, i HATED 1980s music.

Amen, man.
Good to make your acquaintance.
same here, until a few day's ago I thought this was No Doubt.
not to be a snob but pop music back then was so much better anyway, 90s and especially 80s pop was great now the radio is filled with stuff that sounds the same and is as simplistic as possible because people's ears are lazy
A timeless classic. Those unborn will love this song in the 2030s, 2040s and beyond.
Yes, they will love it! This is one of best songs they will have.
Such beautiful blue eyes and a voice from heaven.

This song was playing in the hospital when my dad was getting airlifted. I can’t hear this song without a tear coming into my eye. I miss him so much ❤️

Damn that’s a shame
why are people afraid or ashamed about liking this song, this is FIRE
This song? No. “Call me maybe”? YES LOL
This song sounds SO INCREDIBLY ahead of its time. I swear almost every pop song today sounds like this
I’ve thought that too, except the fact is this sounds much better than most songs today. If this were released in 2022, it would totally win Grammys and top world charts
Every pop song wishes it sounds as good as this lol
Sounds like a Doja Cat song, you are so right
@@armar4844 Yup, sounds kind of like a combination of Say So and Kiss Me More

yea literally i love this song but i just prefer her singing in the rest of the song rather than the chorus
Thank you--you have a blessed day as well😊@@dennishogan1434
the composer is a genius. This melody does not get old.
I was a 90s girl so songs like this are exactly what I listened to when I got some from school. Back in the good ole days where MTV and Vh1 actually showed music videos most of the day and the only 2 reality shows anywhere on tv were The Real World and Road Rules
The 90's just had far superior music.
4000 BBY had better music
Nina's eyes are are so blue that gives me goosebumps...her dimples are cute tho. And her voice...😍😍😍
This song always sounds both sad and fun, years later I still dont know which to feel.
My wife loved this song. I come back and listen to it every so often, it's like she's still right here with me. I can practically see her dancing in circles in the kitchen begging me to dance with her.

The singer is perfection! Those eyes and that voice! She is a dream.

What a magnificent little jewel of a pop song. Consummately 1990's.
It's hard to believe this song is more than 25 years old, it seems like only yesterday it was new, and all over the radio.
I was 9 on a vacation trip of summer ‘97, even myself realized it was something new and cool, and it fit great with the vibes of the beach at night having dinner with my parents at the hotel lobby, sunburnt, and a very hot island even at night 🏝 i remember feeling cool cause we were at the bar and i was almost 9, lol

the meaning of this song is actually so depressing
Yes, is literally a girl begging for a man to love her back. That's not healthy.
Meh... she will have eventually to accept the loose, but it isn´t necesary that unhealthy. Unless it last too long.
The British version of this video makes more sense with the song

Funnily enough, I didn't know this song was a major hit until I just randomly discovered the CD at a local music shop. I then looked for a music video and was surprised
These lyrics are way darker than the pop melody would suggest. I was around when this one was in the airwaves. I never looked deeper till now.
what is the darker meaning of this pop melody?
criztu Co-dependence.
I know right? It's kinda like Every Breath You Take... and they still get played at weddings.

LYRICS
Dear, I fear we're facing a problem
You love me no longer, I know and
Maybe there is nothing that I can do
To make you do
Mama tells me I shouldn't bother
That I ought just stick to another man
A man that surely deserves me
But I think you do
So I cry and I pray and I beg
Love me love me
Say that you love me
Fool me fool me
Go on and fool me
Love me love me
Pretend that you love me
Leave me leave me
Just say that you need me
So I cry and I beg for you to
Love me love me
Say that you love me
Leave me leave me
Just say that you need me
I can't care 'bout anything but you
Lately I have desperately pondered
Spent my nights awake and I wonder
What I could have done in another way
To make you stay
Reason will not lead to solution
I will end up lost in confusion
I don't care if you really care
As long as you don't go
So I cry, I pray, and I beg
Love me, love me
Say that you love me
Fool me, fool me
Go on and fool me
Love me, love me
Pretend that you love me
Leave me, leave me
Just say that you need me
So I cry and I beg for you to
Love me, love me
Say that you love me
Leave me, leave me
Just say that you need me
I can't care 'bout anything but you
Love me, love me (say that you love me)
Fool me, fool me (go on and fool me)
Love me, love me (I know that you need me)
I can't care 'bout anything but you
So toxic!
Thanks😊

But looking at the vibrancy of the other colours it's probably enhanced i.e. light that makes blue eyes like that makes other colours dull. At 3:09 is probably her natural colour, as it is similar to my GMs eyes,
