No Doubt's "Don't Speak" is an achingly beautiful ballad that captures the raw pain of a relationship falling apart. Gwen Stefani's soulful voice, filled with emotion and vulnerability, perfectly conveys the heartbreak and sorrow of saying goodbye. The poignant lyrics and create a melancholic atmosphere that resonates deeply, making it impossible not to feel the weight of each word. It's a timeless reminder of the fragility of love and the sadness of letting go. Truly a masterpiece that tugs at the heartstrings. 💔🎶
No one can interpret this song the way she does. The tone in her voice... the lyrics... everything... you just can feel her heart breaking. Brings tears to my eyes every single time I listen to this masterpiece.
Agreed. Most of the covers, that I've heard, do an excellent job at recreating the music - and even have talented vocalists - but lack the obvious pain in the tone of voice. Honestly, as shitty as it is to say, the world wouldn't have had the same song were it not for tragedy.
It will always break my heart ❤ to hear or sing this song. I shall never forget the good times as well as the bad. A period in both of our lives written in stone. The nineties were just that.
Something interesting is that Iron Maiden released a song called Look For The Truth the same year this song came out, and the first 2 minutes of that song uses the same chords as this one!
Every time I hear this beautiful song, I think about Gwen performing it many times together on stage with her ex. The pain in her eyes and voice. Bless you Gwen. I hope you're happy now with Blake.

Can’t believe she’s 54 years old, still gorgeous as well, hell of an album this was in the day “still” so sad how fast life goes, and that’s why music is so important to us, memories! Edit: her and alanis had the best female voices of the 90s IMO
The song that opened the world of foreign music to me. Walking in the mall with mom and dad while this is playing, telling them that I like it and my mom instantly going in a store to buy me the album (cassette). One of my most cherished memories and a song that lives up to it. Now I'm in my 30s and it's still one of my all-time favs 💜
Omg all the time. I’m 44 and have favorites from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s that rock my world. I was in my 20s when this song came out. Don’t think we had smart phones just yet. I swear the advent of smart phones, in my life, is a before/after marker of the times. This song is very nostalgic for me.
Gwen and her Musicians are indeed *ABSOLUTELY AMAZING* ... HOWEVER : Whoever wrote the song, composed the track, and put in the "real work" was insanely talented ! This song is so good, so unique...so beautiful ! This song, Spiderwebs, and Just a girl are all *ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PRIME* level tracks, and all in different genres to boot !
I heard this in 1997 I remember listening to it when I would be getting ready for school, I was 15 yrs old then and I'm 41 now and still love this song, it's amazing. Good songs never die.
One of my earliest music memories... Feeling the pain of this song as a six year old and feeling the exact same way to this day. So raw and beautiful. Love this song forever

It is rather fleeting and they don’t place too much focus on it. But to me, it was always that scene in the garden with her holding the fruit for a photo, trying to look cool while obviously feeling so inadequate, altogether so out of place, and just plain hurt… It’s like “my god”😣 Such great acting in that moment. Like I’ve been in that garden and felt those exact things. She did the most amazing job getting those emotions across!
She can manage her pain very well, & pouring taste of the soul, her sick n broken, maybe stress into a beautiful art💗. Salut! Gwen is a true artist! awesome!👍
This video/song is so meta. She is working in her breaking up with the bassist after 7 years and also the fact that she is becoming bigger than just No Doubt in the lyrics and video. They were all painfully aware she was getting the spotlight more and there was really nothing they could do except step out of the way and be gracfull and not get bitter about it (at least in public or media) This is a well-directed video.
I remember this song always playing on the radio every time my parents took my siblings and I to the beach during the summer. Makes me feel emotions that I haven't felt since. Incredibly powerful.

Stevie Nicks invented this move back in the 70s when she did it to Lindsey Buckingham in Fleetwood Mac... Gwen is such a skilled songwriter. I feel like this aspect is always overlooked so easily with female singers. Nevermind that she's managed to put out some of the biggest hits in recent music history, not to mention the high quality of those tracks either.
Sturm Bergi they are great hits don't get me wrong but some of the biggest in recent memory? I would say they are hit songs but easily overlooked and in the middle of the pack in regards to hits, mega hits, and best in recent memory

It’s better because you’re older and been through enough in life to fully understand how powerful this song truly is. She literally poured her heart out and shared her pain with the world.

She is thinner now at 47. Ive noticed when women keep it in check weight wise its all cardio not adding muscle mass. Here she has some meat on the bone. Not much but enough to know its muscle and toned. After the kids Im guessing she just decided to stay thin and lean not toned and muscled. I like her either way.
I'm flabbergasted the bass player Tony broke up with Gwen after seven years... you can see the emotion in her face and hear it in her voice(particularly at 1:26-1:33ish). But thanks to him, Gwen and her brother we have this masterpiece... I had wondered why the focus was on him and she was singing to him certain parts. Some of the greatest works of art come from pure misery or misfortune. Still can't believe he left her... but she's got a cowboy now. Oh and I'm listening/ watching this in 2018 like it matters- it'll never lose it's power to captivate, especially to those that can relate all too well.
the song is also about how they were pushing gwen to leave the group and go solo why she doesn't just sing it to him but the whole group. this song was her way of saying sorry for all the hurt ive cause to him and the other members of the band. If you watch the start with showing the happiest times for the group when the first became famous. By the end of the video it's less about the group itself and all about Gwen. Band mates can be replaced but in in Hollywood eyes gwen was the only true star in the group
that's fucking crazy! I never knew that. Music these day and age you would never see something so RAW and put together. For him to KNOW she's talking about him and yet still play in her band/music video is just.....is just....wow

She is beautiful woman and a great singer
She is a beautiful Woman, but Jewel is all that in one Man.
David Capper Gwen Stefani

I'd be honored if some fans of mid/late 90s classics would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of LONG DECEMBER by the Counting Crows, NAME by the GooGoo Dolls, and "1979" by the Smashing Pumpkins in tribute to 3 great standards of the era. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Peace out and stay safe in the '020s.
Oh you know the story!!! Yup, truth
This song got me through my foster years. I’m 37 now. I hope someone hears this and it gives them what I needed at the time listening to this. Rock on!🤙🏾
❤️
I was in middle school when this came out I still love it
Oh, I hate that you were sad...just found this and you made me feel so sad!
I hope your life is full of joy and love forever
I'm also 37. I remember the song aired it's debut on m.t.v. The only debut of a song I remember or maybe actually ever saw on m.t.v. Glad it was this tune, that Cm guitar intro still plucks my heart strings

Gwen is such a skilled songwriter. I feel like this aspect is always overlooked so easily with female singers. Nevermind that she's managed to put out some of the biggest hits in recent music history, not to mention the high quality of those tracks either.
I agree she wrote it with her brother after her boyfriend dumped her, He was also a band member but left. x
Wasn't Tragic Kingdom primarily written by Gwen though? I feel like she put a lot more of herself into the music after he left.
Sturm Bergi they are great hits don't get me wrong but some of the biggest in recent memory? I would say they are hit songs but easily overlooked and in the middle of the pack in regards to hits, mega hits, and best in recent memory
she wrote this? really? quite impressive
Ben Zineb Yosr Yes, people actually wrote their own music back in the 90's.
I truly believe this song has not only stood the test of time, but it’s almost better now than ever. Gwen deserves every bit of the life she has!!
Man....Gwen is so gorgeous! Tony looks like an every day Joe blow, and he broke her heart? WOW....!!!! She is my age and still so gorgeous! Blake is a lucky man!!!
It’s better because you’re older and been through enough in life to fully understand how powerful this song truly is. She literally poured her heart out and shared her pain with the world.
It blows my mind they were able to continue being a band after such a rough breakup.
What hapnd
I'm just someone that scrolling by to find some good old music
@@unclevladdydaddy3220 the lyrics is about Tony (the bassist)
The band was apparently on the verge of breaking up 1 day before this video was filmed
This is like my 2nd favorite band
I think what happened not to long after this song she met Gavin and that’s how she was able to continue in the band
No word! Chapeau!!!
I had the pleasure of seeing No Doubt live and in person as a teenager. They dont make bands like this anymore.
Luck you
No Doubt was my first concert...they were touring with Weezer at the time and there was insanely bad storms that night and she said she's never coming back to that state...she still hasn't come back to Minnesota.
Lucky you. I would have loved to see this band perform live. So many memories with this song
Dang I used be a teenager back then

Don't be sad for ageing. Besides you are still young. 🌱 I am 54 and very happy with my life. 🙂
Is it me, or did she have a bindi (black dot on her forehead) which signifies a wedding..? That makes this song so much more powerful, as her "mate" was of indian descent.
I miss watching legit music on tv specifically the MTV Channel
During late night to early mornings, i still remember them playing these kind of music
So nostalgic
I really miss old days with these music
What happened to MTV? I was born in 2007, I’ve never seen MTV, besides UA-cam vids.

Excellent Song. Tremendous Letter. To Remember Is To Live!!!!!
I'm wondering when exactly she is going to age, probably never. She is freaking 47, still in shape, flawless, amazing. I appreciate her so much.
And she sings like shit.
Ya. Crazy. This song came out when I was in 4th grade and I am 32.....
Stephy Huggins right bc I was in sixth grade but it was summertime so I was going to seventh and I'm 34 now.

I listened to this so many times when I was young over each heartbreak, memories. Now I'm 41 and it still brings back all those memories

Never gets old or boring. What a master piece. It is a pity that we don't get music like this these days.
Singers aren’t getting dumped by loved ones anymore 😂
Barca tramposos
Todays music is lazy, cookie cutter trash.
it's a pity that you don't commit to looking for music like this anymore.

Seeking Truth I didn't pay attention to the video before but wow she looks really hurt :( I can tell those emotions are real
the song is also about how they were pushing gwen to leave the group and go solo why she doesn't just sing it to him but the whole group. this song was her way of saying sorry for all the hurt ive cause to him and the other members of the band.
The imagery in the music video is incredible. Brilliant direction.
