It was a loophole for this situation, but not a loophole around the treaty grounds. Which was to leave the Sheliak alone and dont bother them. This was exactly the type of incident that the treaty was made for.
in Star Trek Online the Tzenkethi are revealed as large thick skined bipedal mammals with 6 limbs 2 legs 2 large arms and 2 smaller arms the smaller arms are used for fine detail & dexterity work while the large arms can allow for feats of incredible strength and carrying heavy weapons their Ships are just as formidable
I'm annoyed the algorithm didn't show me this until now. Great video, the only one I'd add would be the Zalkonians from TNG "Transfigurations", though for all we know they all evolved shortly after the episode
I suggest that a summary of isolationist powers in the Star Trek universe should include the Paxans, as depicted in the Next Generation episode, “Clues” (s. 4 ep. 14). The Paxans were specifically described in that episode as “isolationists” - indeed, as radical xenophobes. They inhabited an M-class planet in a T Tauri star system “within a pocket of" the Ngame Nebula. (It eventually is revealed that they had terraformed a “protoplanet” in that system to facilitate concealment of their existence. That implies that their original home world was elsewhere, but the episode does not indicate where that star system might have been. On the other hand, some sources suggest the Paxans were a “non-corporeal” life form, and might originally have evolved in that T Tauri system, but not on a planet.) The Paxans did not merely refuse contact by other species; for them, even just the •knowledge• of their existence by alien races was “unacceptable”. They had technology that could create the illusion of a wormhole near their planet, and after an alien vessel had detected it, that could also render the crew of the vessel unconscious. The Paxans would then move the vessel a substantial distance away - at least 1.75 light-years, in this instance (Riker and Ensign McKnight report 0.54 parsecs) - and when the crew recovered consciousness, they would be convinced that an encounter with the wormhole had knocked them out in dislocating them through folded space, and that the location of that system was too dangerous to approach again. If, however, such subterfuges failed to deceive or deter the alien intruders, the Paxans were prepared to destroy them and their vessel, to preserve their isolation.
I think it’s funny how you include speculative designs for the Tzenkethi, but used neither the design from the Star Trek Online MMO, nor the IDW Star Trek Defiant comics.
Thank you for this video! The non-human aliens (both physically and behaviorally) are so interesting. Personally, I've always really enjoyed the Tholians. I hope to see more regarding them in the future. God be with you out there everybody. ✝️ :)
It's funny how Star Trek writers keep using terms like "Alliance," "Empire," "Confederacy," and such and apparently don't know what they mean since the polities they assign those names to don't match the words
It's at the top of the list. After this vid I am switching over to Star Wars for awhile but when I get back to Star Trek a Romulan update will be one of the first ones I work on. :)
@@CivilizationExNo, let’s do some on Delta and Gamma Quadrant species like the Voth or the Jem’Hadar. The Malon, the Kazon, the Vaaduwur , or even a show on a specific episode like Voyager’s “Blink of an Eye” or DS9’s “In the Pale Moonlight,” “The Quickening;” or “Soldiers of the Empire,” or TNG’s “Reunion” or Enterprise’s “Rogue Planet.”

3:02 with how precise the Sheliak made the treaty I'm surprised there were *any* loopholes.

Can you still have fun on that game or is it too much pay to win?
Star Trek online doesn't count
@@docsavage8640 Considering the video used two speculative designs, wouldn’t the Beta Canon designs be just as valid?
And in the IDW Comics the Tzenkethi are literally just Dinosaurs. Weird how they copied STO’s ships, but not their aliens.
I noticed non humanoid species are usually isolationist, probably to avoid the aliens that are *just* humans
Orrrr, having them be isolationist keeps production costs down as you don't have to show them.

Great show! I wish you would do more Star Trek content. Would you do a show on the Voth?
The tholians do engage in diplomacy in the 24th century they are mentioned many times ambassadors etc
What about the Gorn Hegemony ?
Not Xenophobic or isolationist. More like the Hirogen. Hunters. Everyone else is prey.
@@boss-anova I want see them fight the isolationists.

Curious if you plan on doing a remake of your minor houses of Westeros video but with each house in each realm together?
Yes I definitely will! I am currently working on Star Wars until February, but I will try to get to those when I come back to ASOIAF. :)
One thing you didn't mention: The Tholians were in an uneasy alliance with the Dominion, as seen in Star Trek Online. I think
Well Star Trek Online isn't considered "canon" to the franchise.
Im surprised the Sheliak didn't join the Domain war these powers should join forces 😮😮😮
They probably viewed the Dominion just like every other hominid. Like roaches.

And they rarely use the same one twice.
I would say it's a given that Tholians don't drink iced tea?

What I have learned. Don't tell a Tholian to go "F" themselves. They might actually listen to you. Now what are you going to do?
The Typhon Pact didn't happen, that timeline was aborted.
And Star Trek online made reptilian tzenkethi Canon
