I'd love a ST spinoff series about the rebuild of Cardassia. Something resembling the kind of struggle Germany went through after WW2: coming clean with your own past while also dealing with terrible loss AND trying to find a new place in the interstellar community.... Maybe a bit to slow and boring lol ;)
An informative video. One point of contention however. I would disagree that the Cardassians were ever a superpower. A great power at the most. I'd argue that neither the Klingons nor Romulans were superpowers by 24th century standards either. Really only the UFP I think could be considered such for their region of the Alpha & Beta Quadrants. Besides that, a lot of illuminating knowledge.
The reason I called those 4 powers, superpowers, is because that is what they were called in the shows. Near the end of DS9 Section 31 stated that those 4 were the super powers of the region, but that after the war only the Federation and Romulans remained.
@@CivilizationEx ; I might have missed that in the shows then. It's just putting Cardassia as a superpower, the same as the UFP, in the 24th century seems akin to putting Italy as a superpower, akin to the USA or USSR in the 20th. If that's the case, then it's a situation where the show writers didn't understand the definition of a political superpower. Still, if it's canon the shows, I concede to you being in the right here.
@@NovoCognition They definetly were not on the same level, but the other three were aggressive powers that actively asserted their influence wherever possible and so in the eyes of Sec 31, were viable threats to the Federation, even if none of them could win a one on one fight.
@@NovoCognition A better comparison might be Iran more than Italy. But good point. Iran today - and the Cardasians in DS9 - can be described as a "Middle Power". This concept was developed by the 16th century Jesuit Giovanni Botero (great powers, middle powers, and small powers). I love all the allegorical Geopolitics in ST. One of its advantages over Star Wars. Lora Johnson's Worlds of the Federation goes into all of this. #CivilisationEx does great work in these videos
I didn't mention Vulcans because they are the same as Romulans, so I figured mentioning one equals the other as well. I also prefer to mention the Romulans because they are the species specifically present during this revelation in the show. The specific species mentioned are humans, klingons, cardassians and romulans. Vulcans and other humanoid species are implied, but not specifically mentioned.
Here is a link to a vid I made for them while ago, ua-cam.com/video/9jl4FCvu2fg/v-deo.html&ab_channel=CivilizationEx I will try to make an update to it in the next few months.
Sorry but I love Star Trek, for me it's a more interesting universe than ASOIAF, so I will always cover it. However there is plenty more ASOIAF coming this year, so you wont have to wait long. I even have some big plans to remake some of my larger ASOIAF vids this summer :)

I like how you added the size difference between the Union and the Federation as there are pros and cons for both small and large territories.
I think an Andor like show about the bajoran resistance would be great. We could see more of kira, shax and shakars actions in the resistance
It is noncanon, but there is a book trilogy called Terok Nor that details events of the occupation.
Late 80s to 90s Star Trek was fucking incredible
I love DS9 so much. Whilst there was a ton of amazing characters I gotta shout Damar, what an arc for a seemingly minor character.
Damar, Garrik, Kira
Love your Borg History video i love all of them but that one The Most 😃👍.
Respect and keep up the epic work.

For Cardassia!!!!
For the Kardashians! Fire the Botox torpedoes!
"FOOR CAARDAASSIAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"
Elim Garak's most honestly patriotic moment in his entire life.
For Cardassia!
It would be interesting to see show that that showed early Cardassians.
Do the complete Star Trek history of the romulan empire
Anybody else agree that there should have been/should be a Klingon based series......I vote we call it House of Mog...... yes?
They should do a show called Keeping up with the Kardashians
🤣🤣🤣
Nicely done.
CivEx!!!!!
The Sheliak Corporate is bigger than the Cardie Union?
Yes but they are isolationists and don't leave their space.
Well done 👍👏

So were the cardassian's only seen on Deep Space 9? I don't remember them being mentioned in the newer movies...
They were in all the old shows but DS9 featured them more. TNG also had them many times as it was set at the end of the war.
Wait a minute. Did the progenitors also give rise to Vulcans? Why are they left out when Romulans are included?

Cardassians were screwed over by the writers but not so much when it came to the Romulans or Borg,
👍
🤔 sounds strangely like the Soviet Union
Naw it’s established they were analogous to Nazis. They are literally space Nazis
They were based on the Soviet Union
