The Death Experience | George Carlin | It's Bad for Ya (2008)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- Stand-up comedian George Carlin explores what happens after death to those left behind and the deceased. He questions the rationale, or lack of, behind some of the things we say to each other and life for deceased parents in heaven or hell.
It’s Bad For Ya, Carlin¹s Emmy-nominated 14th and final HBO special from March of 2008 features Carlin¹s noted irreverent and unapologetic observations on topics ranging from death, religion, bureaucracy, patriotism, overprotected children and big business to the pungent examinations of modern language and the decrepit state of the American culture. Carlin once again comes up with an hour of brand new material that not only makes you laugh, but makes you think.
Stream the full special here: tubitv.com/mov...
George Carlin described his comedy as focusing on 3 things: love of language and how we use it; the small things, moments we all share as humans; and the big topics of our culture-war, death, children, religion, etc. A social commentator, he challenged conventional wisdom and brought us face-to-face with our ingrained hypocrisies. There was no topic off limits to his keen observation, wordplay, goofy jabs and rants, whether it was drugs, war, politics, the accumulation of stuff or the way in which we use words.

There’s *always* that one guy yelling *YEAHHH!* after Carlin says something impactful. 😂
thats me in a different universe guys😂
Yeahhh! You’re right ✌️
Impactful huh. You may not realise it but that is a little used term and is one of Trump's 'best words"that people use since he said it at the NY dinner, btw.
@ It’s this kind of thought process that made Trump your dictator in the first place.
@@cranklabexplosion-labcentr8245 And your username explains your thought process.
Razor sharp until the end.
My father showed me Carlin when I was maybe only 12. He died when I was 19, shortly after George did, but I'll never forget watching Jammin' in New York with him and laughing so hard that my stomach hurt... only to have him turn to me and manage to choke out "Don't tell your mother!" between laughs.
Bravo! I turned my son onto Carlin when he was 12. His clip on swearing on the Bible is his favorite.
indeed he was one of a kind who see through bullshit
Ahhhhhh! He'll turn up! 😅😅.
@@addisalemayehu7546The great late George Carlin certainly had been WAY ahead of our time.
If anyone had been DOWN THERE,he or she - who had been in the gates of Hell.
I seriously doubt he'd (or she'd) be smiling.
United Strokes of America 😂
This is why standup is so important. It reflect our inbound frustration so we feel real and can laugh about it. I was introduced to Carlin in around 1997 by my icecream truck guy. And being 18 at the time he made so much sense of all the crap Ive been feed all my life. He gave me a healthy dose of perspective in a world trying to surround me with impregnating propaganda and commercials. I was sad when he "passed away".
He made us question things and think for ourselves, good things to learn at 18 ✌️
@OfficialGeorgeCarlin Even in 2025 He's still making people laugh & giving so much amazing advice! He will be Forever missed! 💞 Imagine if he were here today...he would have Unlimited jokes!! RIP George 💞🙏💞
I see what you did there.
Philosophy and comedy go hand in hand.
Yes ❤️
First off, Christianity is not this mascarade called "Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant churches". Christians do not have hierarchies. observe: Pope > Cardinals > Archbishops > Bishops > Priests > Deacons and so on.
Carlin is fighting a straw man, a misrepresentation of Christianity. He either knows that, and this makes him a liar, or he doesn't know that, and this makes him ignorant. Either way, he is not doing philosophy. Philosohophy requires truth.

This was, without question, my favorite special of his. I loved it when he effortlessly dismantled bullshit.
Thanks for tuning in!
The United Strokes of America 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Very apt indeed!!
And yet I rarely meet anyone dying to leave. Funny how that works.
He must be DOWN there now. Not smiling. Baking a 🥧. Without what, now?
Grandparents in hell. Pol Pot reference is always gives me in something to remember the late George Carlin.
For the owners of this channel, please keep this channel alive for the next decades.. he was a gem, that need to live on. Me as european, knows how important he is in todays environment.
Thank you for sharing this. It means a lot 🫂🫶🏼
Thank you for being here! We want to bring his life’s work to old and new fans alike. He made people laugh, think and question. That’s important ❤️
It's not his sharpest, most verbally acrobatic special, but it remains my favorite. It felt like he was saying goodbye, and I watched this one over and over after he passed.
He knew his health was failing and he was coming to grips with mortality. I’m glad he never lost his wit or gave in to superstitious nonsense.
Mr. Carlin's one of kind! Hit's the nail of humanity right on the head.
Thanks ✌️
Absolutely 💯👍. The late great George Carlin had certainly been WAY ahead of our time.
George Carlin was simply unique like no other! He was fantastic!❤

By becoming the United Strokes of America.
Everybody else wants what everyone ELSE wants!
@ thank you for your remarks!
I miss George. Considering after what happened a few weeks ago, people could really use some of his wisdom because far too many people have let politics dictate their relationships with people. No matter who’s president, you gotta remember that it’s a big club and you ain’t in it! There’s BS coming down the road and it’s important you teach kids how to detect it and to avoid it. I’m glad I found George when I was in high school because it’s helped me navigate my way through this crazy world.
Except "both sides" is a giant intellectual copout. One side didn't actively push a dictator rapist. In georges time you could get away with "both sides". Doesn't work at all now.
True - but: deal with it.
Stay there.
Don't emigrate, especially not to Europe.
We, Europeans, very much like Americans to stay put where your democratically chosen POTUS wants you to be 😎👍
@@claudevieaul1465 Don’t worry I wouldn’t live anywhere but here. America is a circus and I get a front row seat to all the chaos.
Damn good show
@@claudevieaul1465 I can assure you that we aren't all rude or obnoxious people with no common sense or decency, if that helps at all.
Side note: it's surprising to see just how many people don't understand how tariffs work in a global economy. I'd like to screenshot the online statuses of people who celebrated Trump's election with "we won!" so that I can send it to them if the economy nosedives, along with all the statistics to show how prices on everyday goods have risen since. They'd probably just blame illegal immigrants, China, or the counter tariffs, though. At this point, I'd be more interested in the prospects of their arguments if they just blame aliens.
Those, “Supposed” situations are awesome! 😂
Uncle Sam with the Statue of Liberty broke me.
George Carlin has a framed picture of Richard Pryor on the shelf. Those two were my most favorite comedians. Robin Williams was a natural too.
What do you mean "most favorite"? Either they're your favorite or they aren't. They can't all be your favorite. The word literally means "favored amongst all others". :p
Incredible man. We keep coming for his insights and just on point observations.
As the number one 14 year old George Carlin stan (if I do say so myself-) thank you so much for starting this account up again and spreading the good word of this man!
You're very welcome!Thank you for being here! You’re number one in our book ☝️
You can never start early enough with a healthy dose of Carlin
At your age, I was about your age. Once I found out about him, I’ve loved his comedy like it was the very first day. George, Richard Pryor, Dean Martin, and Gene Wilder were undisputed legends and will never be forgotten. The list just keeps going too, like the unforgettable Rodney Dangerfield.
@@Mr.PickleAKABigGreen: When I was your age, I was _exactly_ your age. No half-measures.
Yep Carlin was the best. I saw him not long before he died. He was even funnier than when I first saw him way way back in the 7 words era. There was a deaf person in the audience so the theater provided a sign language guy. Cariin takes the stage looks at him, turns, asks the audience if there was a deaf person in the audience. That person identified herself. He looked at her and said "you are about to see some very interesting hand gestures" Thus began a very memorable night.
Been watching alot of George Carlin lately, he's the only one who makes any sense.
Isn’t that the truth? !
Other than Richard Pryor.
The greatest stand up of all time
George is always a treat. 😂❤
Thanks ✌️
@ So…you ARE smiling down at me, eh? Thanks :D
Haha.
George is always ready for The Reality Check 😂❤
Missing George Carlin so much, especially after this election 😂🤪
I had the privilege of being at the movie premiere of Jersey Girl. By Kevin Smith was on 57th street in Manhattan. During the whole “Bennifer” thing. Saw Harvey Weinstein who said “enjoy yourself” then when everyone was crowding around Liv Tyler, I saw George Carlin by himself it took so much for me to go up to him. I wanted to be clever so I said “hi Mr Carlin “a place for your stuff” “
His answer “there’s been a lot since then get with the program!”
Perfection
❤ I’ll never forget that. Such a legend!
"I think hes down there, screaming up to us"
Definitely. The late George Carlin had certainly been WAY ahead of our time.
I miss Carlin, dearly. He was one-of-a-kind
Other than Richard Pryor. BOTH were legends within their own legacy.
The great late George Carlin certainly had been WAY ahead of our time.
The United Stokes of America.
Lady Liberty just with her hand with - ahem - Uncle Sam just giving him a handjob.
Ain't that somethin.
He was real
He was a champagne socialist scumbag, nothing more.
George is smiling down at us watching this clip, laughing his ass off at how f*cked we all are now. Yep, George and Joe Pesci, just watching and laughing from the surface of the sun. At least, I pray they are. 😂
Joe Pesci is NOT dead! Mofo had me for a second.
No, he's down there now screaming up at us. Lol
Carlin helped get Trump elected, twice. And he's not even related to Trump.
Let's be realistic, he's down there now. Screaming up at us 😆😆😆
Looks like my comment must have gotten removed.
Mr and Mrs Menendez 😂😂😂
After what happened three weeks ago, I have a feeling there will be quite a few explosions at Thanksgiving dinner this year.
DV could have a 10-fold increase over these upcoming Holidaze....
I'm surprised I woke up in my bed and not blown up
Judge not, or you will be judged
Try the oven
I love the 3 day weekend observation😅
Nice to have you back Carlin. Even tho it feel like i have heard you doing same reality talk, its great..keep going👍👍
When George is saying "down from," his face takes on the shape of Jay Leno!
I don't know if he was trying to look that way, or it just does, to me …
We miss you George. We need you more than ever to make us laugh through this excrement!
"Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told." George Carlin 😍

The man,the legend.
His smile reminds me of sling blade, lol...
"I'll guarantee you Mr. and Mrs. Menedez are NOT helping those two boys." Fucking hilarious!!

George called out superstitious twaddle brilliantly!
Never gets old. I love him sooooo much!
Just think 💬🤔..if he became president.. for two terms..peace and tranquility and mostly laughter..
He was too good for that job.
@jonbourgoin182 absolutely true...I was thinking of another world
George wanted nothing to do with fixing things! Just commenting on how fuked up we are and continue to be!
@@Stevesautopartsify bingo! guy knew the system was working as intended. It'd take a lot more than one guy (with good, counter-capitalist intentions who'd sooner than later picked off ala JFK-style) to 'fix' this elaborate charade. Ukrainians thought the same about Zelensky, and look at them now 😂
Can’t believe he did this bit right before he died lol
I like to think George is Smiling Up On Me! (And I know if he is then, he's throughly enjoying watching the complete sh*t show going on in this country!)
Miss you George! 🤣💀
Carlin is my favorite stand up comedian EVER 😎👍👍
My favorite line " I think He's down there screaming up at us in Severe Pain ! " Makes me laugh my ass off everytime I hear it 😂
I miss this man dearly. I don't think any comedian made me truly think, while also making me die laughing so consistently. Bill Burr is the only dude who comes close. Chappelle is amazing too, but didn't have the same level of theism.
Aged like a fine wine.
He spoke in memes 😹
This man died several years too soon, the world is now a perfect place for his trade, best comedian of all time.
I think it was always the perfect place for his trade, then and now.
I think he bailed at the right time. He got to tell the world what was going on, and what was going to happen, then checked out right before the looneys took over the asylum.
Anyone who ever disagreed with George Carlin is indeed a lost soul.
I'd like to think that Mr. Carlin is up there smiling down on us saying "it's real, I was wrong". 😂
Yeah as a former performer you always gotta employ a “ yeah” guy in the audience!😂
Heck yeah!

5:16 Your parents DNA is in you. You and your mother shared a body for a time, so yes maybe their Noncorporeal-body, their energy can affect you. Hear your fathers/mothers voice of encouragement.
Humans find many ways to deal with the terror of the everlasting state of nonexistence that creeps closer and closer, day by day. Of course I'm talking about 'death'. Some rely on faith, some rely on arts, and some use comedy to escape the harsh reality that each and every one of us will soon cease to exist as we know it, and we sure can't be certain how we are going to face it when the time comes.
I say laugh at death cause it sure beats cryin
I find nonexistence to be the best possible outcome of death. Afterlife is the really terrifying concept. That what makes eternal suffering possible as well.

He perfectly grasped the essence of what Americans truly are:
The level of intellect their fathers and mothers possess.
The mindset of their fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and grandparents.
The unparalleled beauty of American society.
Their rich culture, civilized behavior, ethical conduct, and deep-rooted morality.
The exceptional family upbringing they receive.
The abundance of virtues instilled in them from birth.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣😁😁🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮
