- In this tutorial I'll be demonstrating how to create flat style vector avatar faces with Inkscape. This is basically an exercise in working with common shapes like squares, rectangles, and polygons. We'll also be supplementing with other tools, like the Bezier Pen and the Nodes tool, which will give us more granular control over the shapes of the objects.
I've put together a pack of 12 avatar templates that can you can download for free and use however you'd like. You can download them here: logosbynick.com/12-free-flat-...
Want to learn more about how Inkscape works? Check out the Inkscape Master Class - a comprehensive series of over 50 videos where I go over every tool, feature and function in Inkscape and explain what it is, how it works, and why it's useful: logosbynick.com/inkscape/

Now I know who's the graphic designer for Duolingo....
The nose likes cakes
@Fernando Leroy That's quite sad...
@@folkieschannel I just bingewached a bunch of Nick's videos today, and looks like his channel is under a spambot attack, they always comment something like that under the top comment, then there's another comment confirming the first's story...I suggest to report them for spam, hopefully UA-cam will remove them, so they can't take advantage of Nick's awesome work. Also, make sure to not search the apps they recommand, it might lead to harmful sites.
@WoolyTheWool What?
LOL!!!!
Wow, you've gotten into full speed with this channel recently. Delightful to see several new videos every week, seems like you have not ran out of ideas! Keep going mate, quality is high here as usual! :D
I love how a few simple shapes create such an effective design. Thank you for the tutorial. I love inkscape and it's primarily thanks to you.
That was a great lesson, please do more like this!
Thanks a lot brother. I used to make drawings and paintings during my school career. I learnt Inkscape from you and also I learnt Illustrator from Imran Ali Dina (here in Pakistan). After this learning i digitized my designing using inkscape and illustrator. Thanks again to you and Mr. Imran.
Love your work, man! I started with Inkscape and switched over to Illustrator this year, but these tutorials still are a great help!
*I love this channel, not only for its good teaching, but also for its perfect pronunciation, my English listening is improving a lot. Nick is a perfect potential broadcaster. Thank you so much for everything!*
I am learning Inkscape and your tutorials make it so much more fun than just a boring user guide!
Thank you Nick! Not only do you always provide great content but it is also entertaining! Be safe!
Wow, Nick, another fantastic tutorial. I got your masterclass and I am learning so much about Inkscape. My wife tried using Inkscape a couple years ago and was kind of overwhelmed by the complexity of the app, but your course I think is really going to help her a lot.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I use Inkscape for science illustrations and your avatar tutorial is at another level and could help communicate science. I have posted your video to my Facebook page!
Thanks, Nick. This is super helpful for someone who wants to get into this as a hobby. I've learned a bunch. Woot!
"Lets go to Path...Object to Path..."
If I had a dollar for every time I heard that sentence.
"Let's press ctrl+shift+c..."
even though i'll still be poor
hahaha A million is waiting for you here
i just remember this "thats pretty good" 🤣
"If you want inkscape to appear darker with these custom icons", i guarantee you will be a millionaire 😂

Been waiting for this ,thank you .
Keep uploading more like these! Thank you soo much
It's a great tutorial and easy to follow. Thank you nick.
Man I owe you a heartfelt gratitude.
Hi nick , I been creating logos for people for the last month and upgraded to inkscape and thank to you I've learned a lot. I also bought your master class , keep up the good work. I also would love to see a video of you working with a client from start to finish. I think that would be really interesting!
Thanks Jamie, I have that queued up as a video idea.
@@LogosByNick brilliant, I look foward to it, thanks again!
Nick, you’re amazing! Thanks.
Great video tutorial as always! 👏

great video Nick!
Thanks
Thank you, I learn a lot from you Nick
As amazing as usual!
Thousand thanks
Hey Nick! I watch your gimp videos, because u have so many inkscape videos, I will use inkscape to now. ;)
In my opinion, you don't have to say 'thanks for watching', because you deserve it and also Thank *YOU* for these avatars and all videos they really help a lot
I wanna know that you made that website yourself or hired someone and also that images on site are made by you, right?
great job, great tutorial (as always!)
Great, as always! Thanks a lot!!!
I like your way to make tutorials, even sound of your voice too. Thanks a lot! :)
You are doing a great job 👍
Great job Nick
I learn a lot from you, thanks
Excellent tutorial
Thank you Mr. Nick
Glad I have the notifications on 🔥🔥🔥
Yes me too haha
My source of knowledge in graphic design 🥰🥰
Thank you so much for templates
Great Video , Many Thanks
Thank you for the knowledge!
I love your teaching style! I have to speed up most videos on YT to 1.5, or 2.0, but yours is just right. Something that took me way too long to figure out was that to get the lighter color on the light reflection on the hair, you have to have the stroke style => width set to something high so you can actually see the line, mine was to 0.2mm (I'm new to inkscape :) ).
amazing tutorial dude
¡Awesome! ¡Thank You so much! Greetings from Bogotá, COlombia.
Love it!💜
Good Job! Like your tutorials :)
Great work man!
You are excellent. Thanks man :)

Those dead, beady eyes... They are staring into my soul. Forever they will haunt me in my nightmares.
Great!
Nice !!!!
thank you very much....❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks!
You're awesome 👍🏽 ❤️
Nice!
Top stuff
Thank you Nick, you are really preparing some great lessons, but I remember that you posted this lesson last year. :)
I've never done this lesson. Must be someone else.
Its PathEffect apear in Inkscape last months.
i felt relaxed to see a türk like me here :)
1:37 that drumpf is AMAZING
That intro is still fire
master!
Thank You..!!!!
este tutorial e excelente.
Please do more of these!! Pleaaaseeeeeeee
Thank you for the video. I am having a challenge making the hair with the Bezier tool but you used object to path when doing the hair. I thought you made it less complicated but you were a little fast so I have to try listening again
It would be a good idea to explain how to create that pdf with the vectors. Thanks for the content!
You re F#$%#@#$@ awesome dude i learn something from you even after years using that program
Thankyou for sharin
love from India
Thanks for the video, you've been my number source for learning Inkscape. Because of "needs" I've jumped over to Affinity Photo & Designer and really hope/wish you could do videos on that software. It's 50% off currently so $25 and that includes free lifetime updates. No monthly fees no buying upgrade software in a few years down the road.
ColdChills01 I’m moving to Designer too, a lot of his tutorials can translate to designer if you get familiar with the UI :)
Avatars are cool
I did it
How cool and easy was that !!!! I just wish Inkscape was more compatible with vinyl plotter software 😔 they both use .svg files but it seems to lose half the file or more when you import the Inkscape files
thank you for your video they are really helpful, I have a question
when i download an image from pixabay.com I can use it for my t-shirt design normally, I will not have a problem with copyright or trademark ? please i need your answer
Nick, have you ever made a video using Gimp featuring hologram effects?
Nice tutorial. For the teeth, I think shaping the teeth in the smile would appear more natural.
also try enve... the open source AE alternative
please make a video on Pantone colors
Can you create part 2 with bodies?
this sudden change of your voice at 1:01 hit me hard
Fantastic. Thank you so much for your videos. One question, when you prepare the document at the beginning of each video, are you doing it for tutorial purposes? You know you can save that template as default, right? Sorry for the mistakes.
CTRL_S Marcos how do you save aa default? I don’t like the document showing when using Inkscape. Thanks.
Hi NicK! How did you add those icons in the path effects?
Another amazing tutorial as always. That's very useful. Thank you! But I think something went wrong. The video quality is 360 max. I don't know if it's my device but yeah.
UA-cam was processing the video, it should be fine now
It could be that youtube hasn't finished processing the HD version. I think it's finished now because mine's HD :)
Oh sure, Thank you. I didn't know it.
Hey Nick,
I wanted to know if you have uused Vectornator for iPad, and if you had any tutorials on it? Thanks for your time.
