Have owned one for 13 years. Best car ever. Well made and reliable, but you must keep on top af maintenance. Total ownership costs are fair, with nothing else offering as much for so little. Find a good, well looked after one and enjoy.
Get rid of the drc . Swap the gearbox for manual. Wagner intercooler. Rocker cover gasket every so often. Other then that great car

@@themilesdriven completely agree. It’s the best online car community I have been a part of. Mine is manual swapped and it is a beast of a car. There’s really nothing quite like it, belt-driven V8TT sedan (US) with a manual. That’s an extremely limited list and it makes the car that much more special. It’s the ideal 3rd or 4th car (if you’re going to DIY) because it’ll be down for months at a time while you slowly chip away at the work as a hobby. It can be a challenging car to own but it is very rewarding as well.

You forgot about oil cooler adaptor coolant leak which is a motor drop job

Hi would you say a well maintained, low km (31,000km) RS6 C5 is of higher build quality & has less problems than newer generations?
Tough comparison. A very clean C5 will doubtlessly drive well, and Audi build quality is generally good, but a C6 and then C7 benefit from newer engineering techniques and mechanical understanding.
For what it is worth, from driving the C5, C6, and C7 generation of RS6 the C6 has stayed in the memory the longest 👍
Would you advise the purchase of the RS6 c5 with historic maintenance but with 200’000kms? How long these engine can last?
Would you be doing maintenance on the vehicle yourself? One of the problems owners mentioned was the high amount of labour needed for smaller jobs, which isn't so bad if you enjoy working on your own cars 👍
@@themilesdriven No, I wouldn’t be able to do it myself. My main concern is the reliability of the engine up to 400k kms. In Europe prices are around 22/25k for a car of around 200k kms.
The motor itself can do that mileage. However the turbos would be the immediate concern as its impossible to know how the car has been driven and the condition of the turbos.
Spending 3-5k per year on maintenance is relatively common on the C5 RS6 if not doing job yourself So it depends how willing you are to pay for ongoing maintenance. We saw a great example a few year ago with high mileage (Over 200k km), but the owner had spent 35k on maintenance in 3 years to make it perfect.

I have a 2004 c5 RS6 seloon. Its rubbish.
Don’t buy an old RS6! I owned one back in 2007. I was the second owner. It was only problems, a real money pit. I had to replace the gearbox after 120000 km. I sold it after two years, maybe the worst car I ever owned. It was so unreliable.
