My friends 08 HD F 250 has a full floater in the rear , I love driving that truck, especially since he upgraded the motor and she’s got around 800hp ! I’m about to pick up my 38s for my First Gen Tacoma today! Bye bye 35s! Goldie is so sweet brother! She’s always been one of my favorites!
They are pretty good axles for what they are! And that’s awesome man! You’ll enjoy them! And thanks as always! Gonna start working on the interior and maybe do something cool with the bed soon. Idk, looking for ideas
@King Fab and Offroad Me to, I haul motorcycles and shyt, like 5 38" tires so until I get another pickup, I gotta keep the full 6' bed , but definitely gonna bob her a bit in the future, but I really want to maintain it being an actual pickup truck 🛻 I love wheeling her in full form
@@kingfabandoffroad8203 working on a 96 1ton coil overs. Gonna go 4 link with custom flat bed and going with a little 4 cylinder cummins for low rpms and torque.
That right side tailgate cable sticks out on every first gen doesn't it? Nice truck I found you while doing my dd to sas my 98xcab v6 auto. I can appreciate your labor and can't wait to put in my time. How does it ride now compared to say the independent front end on some heavy coils?
That's fantastic! Do you have videos or pictures of it flex out and wheeling? I have a 1st gen Tacoma and am debating going the exact route you did vs trying to do a 3 link. I want to be able to take passengers with me and still get all the places our 2 door Wrangler currently does.
@@kingfabandoffroad8203 thanks! I'll poke around your channel and see. I mostly need it to do Fordyce and Rubicon out here in CA. Bonus points if I can do Moonrock and Johnson Valley.
Check out the kit that Sky Manufacturing sells. It’s a early model 1 ton Chevrolet master coupled to their adapter and a 4 bolt Toyota booster from a early Tacoma truck.
How much did this set you back? I’m looking to do a similar build on my 3rd Gen 4Runner. Looking to know ball park what I’m going to have to put into it.
On this particular truck I had well over $20k before labor. But.... labor is the determining factor in that. Because if I did claim that, I’d say there would be $10k at least in labor. But it all depends on how much you source new or used, how big and flashy you want your wheels, or coilovers, exc.... So it truly varies for every build. But ultimately to answer your question roughly $25k if you use all good parts and do it yourself I would say.
Don’t have the exact kit number. I remember calling and they said it was the same kit they have for sale, it just didn’t specify it was for a 3.4. And they sent it to me.
Thanks! Shock shaft showing 6inches. But that’s one thing I’ve never measured completely flexed. I pull up on 40 inch tires often with it if that gives you some more insight. And it’s got a 26inch frame height with 30lbs of air in tires
True, although they are referred to as a super to distinguish the difference between older superduty axles. But how ever you cut the cheese the housings are the same. Minus some knuckles and joint changes you are correct!
Used Wfo adapter for front Dana 60 flange. And custom made a flange to adapt sterling to toyota shaft in rear. (Then later had a custom shaft made from Tom woods with a ford yoke on rear end side, and toyota factory on other.
@@kingfabandoffroad8203 copy that! Sidetrack makes the d60 front flange and the 10.5 rear flange but their cnc machine is down. I’ll look into who, thanks
It’s off of a 96 Tacoma 4x4 auto 3.4. I did some research and Toyota apparently made them bigger (4 bolt) from 96-98 when they started making “Tacoma’s”. And that’s what the Sky Manufacturing Gm adapter bolts to for the best braking setup. And it works great!
Yes I did. The trail gear “pan reversal and pickup”. Worst part is they want you to move dipstick to side of block. I left mine in front and it’s pretty darn close on the level indicator.
🤦🏼♂️ terminology man. Get with the times. Of course it isn’t a one ton. But I’m sorry for making you comment that it isn’t. The axles are what’s used in one ton or 3/4 ton trucks. Hopefully you know that?
C'mon man. Putting unshortened, overweight, and unnecessary axles for anyone with a degree of throttle control is a cool look. People say it aids stability, but it just takes the size advantage of your small truck and turns it nearly into the disadvantage of a full size.
Can’t wait to build mine! Thank you! 40’s before 40 🎉

such a hot taco im so falling in love man your taco is awesome i have exactly like your willing to build it like yours
