Nice video. I did Fordyce to the first water crossing. Almost actually. Some built rigs were coming back up and said not to go down due to snow. Good times. 2021 zr2 on 34 swampers with a 2.5 inch lift and 4.56 regear.
Impressed with the IFS ones. Mine is very similarly built. Never considered taking it through Rubicon but it seems like it could do it after seeing this. I'd probably put an Eaton front locker on it though.
@@ianlennox4633 I have the stock gearing (4.10) and factory rear locker on my 03. What gears would you recommend? It is my daily and tow vehicle so I wouldn't wanna go too crazy. 4:88's? I do struggle getting my boat out of the water sometimes as well so gearing would help there, too.
I think they're BR6 SCS wheels with 3.5-in backspacing. You have to hammer and clearance the firewall area and your fenders and flares in order to fit 295s, which he's running

Yes. No problems with them as long as you check them for play periodically. Total chaos makes a lower uniball conversion for the 1st gen lbj. Expensive though

does anyone know what gen a 1983 Toyota is considered I have one I have had since 1983 is it called the real Toyota lol where did they come up with the Tacoma name it always sounded stupid to me
They are generally referred to as “pickup” or just “truck” as my title said for my 91 as Toyota removed the name Hilux from the US market. (They were called Hilux everywhere else). The Tacoma was introduced in 1995.5 and is only sold in the US. The Hilux is still sold overseas. (1st gen Tacomas are from 1995.5-2004) The generations are somewhat debated on the older trucks. Some start at the beginning, some seperate the 4x4s. Yours would be a 3rd gen pickup or 1st gen 4x4.
Looks like fun. Nice to see 1st gen Taco's sticking together.
Nice job editing this. Gave it the feel of the trail - nonstop obstacles.
I got a second Gen but my heart is forever with the 1st Gen ✊
Damn. Clean ass builds 👌 fun to see you guys use em so well
Cool to see IFS out there. CV axels break like birch wood sticks.

Front locker, low gearing, and good driving help a lot 😁

You should do a build walk-around with that SAS tacoma :D
Cold world hustlers!
Hell YES!!! What size tires are the IFS rigs running?
Awesome dope build. What bumper is the sliver one running with the spare tire?
A modified NWTI bumper with a swingout added to it
Hey , it’s my Tacoma’s cousins
Around the 19 minute mark, was he quoting Chozen?
Can you tell me what the gear ratios are in those? I'm regearing IFS 33's and am torn on 4.88 or 5.29. Its Manual and I carry some weight.
Definitely 4.88 for a manual. 5.29 would have a wayyy high rpm on the highway with 33s. We're both 4.88. Mine is manual and buddy is auto

How do you like those solo lower control arms? Anybody running the later sequoia spindles, balljoints and tie rods?
They're solid. No issues with them as long as you don't have the cams crossed up.
All stuff is for 1st gen tacos on our rigs. No sequoia parts
That red truck is beautiful
Thanks!

What wheels are on the 33” silver one? Those are sweeeet

I often don’t read about Ist gen undercarriage skid plates

What lift do you guys run on the two IFS Tacoma's?
Roughly 2.5-3in with coilovers and custom leaf packs
Is that an AllPro front bumper on the red truck? Had it held up well in winching if you have used it?
Ya it is. Had no issues with it and I've put it thru the ringer
I don't understand having the snorkels. Do y'all ride under water a lot?
I don't. They do help with keeping your filter cleaner though

1 ton swap. Dana 60 and a 14 bolt

My buddies brand new G003's performed noticeably better than my 1 year old set on the trail. Time will tell how they perform as they get older
Any body damage on this trip?
Nope
