Couldn't agree more. Had mine for 22 years 325k miles ... Was running fine until d bag wrecked me... Now I got 17 Tacoma... Good looking but the first gen was just better looking.
i just want to say.... not enough young guys out there just straight up finding a way to make $#it work. I love the ingenuity and just the whole vibe! nice work! Brings back memories of learning lessons the hard way wheeling in my old samurai! RIP love it buddy!
I feel your pain, when you buy a part put it on and then you hate it and would have never done it if you knew the outcome. I have found that more with used parts when I was trying to save a buck this isn’t quite right, not what I wanted etc…
need to drop front diff. cv angle too steep. nice build tho. would like too know how long your ball joints, tie rods, bearings, bushings hold up in the long run. i have a 2nd gen 4runner ifs on 35s. i daily drive daily trail for 6 years no prob. been thinking of 38s last couple years. I'll be following this build. thanks
I do have a diff drop. I have the front up pretty tall (which I don't like) because i don't have a spare tire or bumper in the rear. I wanted it to sit more or less level, I don't like the stinkbug look haha
i really wanna see how you made the led halo lights, was looking for some for my first gen and couldn’t find some but i suck at wiring so if you could show us/ tell us how to make those headlights from scratch that would be mint
That’s a lot of parts on it to now SAS it, but you should be able to sell everything you don’t need and get 50-70% of your money back depending on condition
IFS just sucks, off road. New technology in metals is making the components a little better. But most just do not hold up to alot of abuse. Kudos to you for building your own truck. Thats awesome.
It's not bad for overlanding and light rock crawling. But putting 37s on the stock 7.5 inch front diff is asking for trouble, especially locked. I personally wouldn't run anything larger than 35s without doing a solid axle swap.
Haha I get crap for that all the time. I need to finish welding them, so I just haven't painted them. It's on my list, trust me! Thankfully I don't live in a snowy area so rust isn't a huge issue for me.
Just curious, did you have any issues with your clutch pedal after such an aggressive tub on the firewall? I have an 04 on 35x13.50r15 BFG Krawlers, and will need to do something before wheeling it again. I'm just worried about getting full pedal travel by messing with the firewall.

The first gen Tacoma was just simply one of the best looking trucks ever made!!! Not to mention the engines run forever!!! I have 2 Tacoma's! :)

The commentary on this video is amazing, pure comedy, nice truck too!
This is imagination!!! But very well done!!! This tacoma has all you need, and looks way better than any other tacoma!!
This is the best video 😂😂😂😂😂 I just know you love this truck as much as I love my taco
Great video! Brought back a lot of memories for me of working on my Toyota 4 x 4’s over the years.
nice. looks like you are having a good time with it. 1st gen is the best gen
I just broke my spindle on my last wheeling trip and just got the tc reinforcement kit. Wish I would’ve seen this sooner!
Live and learn!
Dude your walk around is dope! Great rig
Cool truck. I have a 2003 but it's very stock and I love it.

And then you replace the bunk part 3 times and should have just bought the good one to begin with...
Nice 1st Gen! Love all the custom made stuff!
That truck is beyond clean!! Great job bro!!
GOOD JOB DINGUS!
I am about to buy those cupholders... awesome idea
Awesome man, would love to get a first gen and build it.
Do it! They are awesome trucks
Sick build! This is something i hope to do soon! Just throw some 40’s or 37’s on an old truck and cut to make them fit!
There is a lot more to it than just throwing on 37's on and cutting it haha but if you have the time and space I highly recommend it!
Sick truck good sense of humor lol

Looks good man. I wouldn’t cut the frame to fix rubbing. Save up for a long travel kit!
It's getting a solid axle swap

Badass truck! 🤟🏼
when you sad you never clean it, i knew i was in the right place.
I noticed your wheels are balanced at a Static.
That’s hella tap weights. You can request non static brotha. Unless that’s on purpose
I didn't want to run beads in my tires, that's really the only reason.
Yes magnet for the gas flap lols

How did the steering rack hold up? Did you regear?
Sorry if I missed it in the video.
Steering rack was blown out when I took it out and the truck was re geared to 4.88's.
Sweet rig.
How many miles on it? Thing is a beast
275k miles :)
Nice truck
Thing is badass
No nonsense love it…
Nice video man!

The wing was trimmed so that the wheels entered the arch
Man you could have painted the frame where you welded the sliders. I can’t believe you left it bare metal to rust.
Haha I get crap for that all the time. I need to finish welding them, so I just haven't painted them. It's on my list, trust me! Thankfully I don't live in a snowy area so rust isn't a huge issue for me.
verry nice build man !
Thanks!
I need thoughs ditch lights
Is that a different attachment for the ram phone holder? Or the standard clamp it comes with?
Same attachment I just used some of their hardware to fix it to the handle.
Do you have video of cutting the bed for high clearance?
I did not take a video but it was pretty easy. I just marked it level with the tailgate and used a grinder to slowly cut it out.
where did you get the beadlocks again?
I LIKE IT

Yes I did. I had to bend my clutch pedal to the right to get it to work properly again.
Is the front gonna camber anytime soon?? I notice when you run big wheels one of them always tend to bend a little.
No, the aftermarket UCA's fix that issue
What year and how many miles on your truck?
Im in the proces of buying a 1999 with 162k miles. Are they worth it?
Absolutely. If it was well taken care of that motor is basically brand new. They will easily go 500k miles. You won't regret it!
