Love this! Simple and easy, most people could do this without needing many special tools. Gives me ideas for my daughter's art tools she likes to have with her all the time. Thanks!
Karson Cornell Agree, I just got ahold of some 2 inch thick oak planks. I have used most of it. But I had a decent amount of offcuts and I always use leather. So I made a variation of this, but the frame is morticed, just my preference. I wish I wasn't so cripplingly shy so I could make videos to show people 😡
Wow, super simple, easy to do. Perfect use of small remainders. A $200 box made in an hour or so. Whats not to like. Another comment was perfect, dont ever ever ever stop creating because youubers feel like it could be better because they see where you failed. Haters hate, Makers make. Thanks for being who you are, inspires me to be more honest with myself about how i want to live.
Such a queingkydink that you did this video! I'm a welder, and I have a Miller passport welder. it's like a suitcase... it has a canvas tool pouch that tears to shreadsin no time. I've replaced several times. just today I was thinking of ideas on how to make something out of leather. never working with leather I wasn't sure how to make the sides. Jimmy, your my hero! I won't use 50 yr. Old Oak from Montana, but I will be using Pallet Oak, Leather and the other hardware you used. You really made my day...
excellent work buddy I love your leather working you come up with some great great ideas for projects this is one of the best ones you've made awesome work brother.
This is great. I'm gonna make small ones for my chisels, screwdrivers, and spanners. I also found two huge pieces of leather exactly like yours in the video. .
Hey Jimmy. I had an idea. You have some small pieces of scrap leather, which are not really usable for a project. Maybe you could make keychains out of them? The odd shapes would make them all unique. Burn a stamp on it, and done! You could sell them, or give them away. Better than throwing away and I think a lot of people would like that! Kind regards.
Duct Tape I work with leather and I don't think anyone throws scraps away. They get used for stuff like the lock on this project. I like the idea of a $5 Diresta keychain though
I like making too boxes too. I just completed a brief case out of a 60 year old coffee table (minus gross Queen Anne legs and trim.) The cherry book match has some nice Patina, and I couldn’t resist. The briefcase turned out nice..
I've been too intimidated by the stitching to attempt a large leather project, so thanks for inspiring us to think about different ways to assemble leather.
What's the big deal? You get a pricking wheel and sew. Or stitching chisels if that's your thing. I like Speedy Stitcher sewing awls myself. But they might be cheating?
love it . i find that when ever i have to move my shop i cant stop thinking of making the perfect tool boxes and containers . can you imagine if you had a swanky box for every loose tool you own? you could put a French cleat on all of them and cover the walls with display able tool boxes and have a working tool museum. nice work though im a tiny house builder and follow your work.
Hello, Jimmy - love this, if I was to order one my only stipulation would be, that you router out or sink the leather meeting the wood as to not have it snag. keep up the great work.
Why does this Diresta guy make everything look so good!!! Who does he think he is, someone who has a million subs and does excellent work out of anything! ;-P Love ya Jimmy, another project to wish to build. Gotta check out Tandy...have some old Tandy project kits...didn't know they were so good on their prices.
That's awesome, I'm gonna have to pick up some heavy leather. One nitpicky suggestion I have would be to clip off the corners on the top end of the lock, like you did with the ends of the handle.
Mmh kinda feel like i'm going to miss the white brick walls and feel of the building. Guess its cause i have lived so long in apartment building and worked my self in the cellar... it just has its own feel, places like that.
I think I will have to make a version of this. Just a thought but, bronze ring shank nails would look very cool on some of your projects where you like to use upholstery tacks.
I like the tote a lot. Design is simple and useful. The ferrous tacks and the leather are possibly going to be a problem. If they are steel, they will eventually discolor the leather. Might look cool though. Thanks, Jimmy
@core77inc How sound do you find this punch rivets to be? I'm looking to make a kind of wooden backpack (don't ask) and I think punch rivets are gonna be the way for the straps
great work. I have the same plan, may be with some little changes but nearly the same. Please let me know do you use wood glue for gluing leather on leather or not. May by some of your new projects can be roll bag for knives. Tx
Any chance that you can tell me how long did the glue last? it has been a while since you made the video so it would be pretty interesting to see how it aged. I think its pretty awesome
I am not sure how long dose it take for a man to learn all techniques that this man knows! Maybe such people needs to write books in order to keep their treasures of knowledge and know how from being lost.. this guy is ingenious and unique
Jimmy never lets us down! Awesome build Brother! 👊🏼👍🏼
Love this! Simple and easy, most people could do this without needing many special tools. Gives me ideas for my daughter's art tools she likes to have with her all the time. Thanks!
Really been enjoying the practical leather work lately. Just seems to kick even a simple project like this up a notch. Thanks for sharing!
Practical with good looks & class, just delightful how you craft such basic materials into such gorgeous stuff.
Leatherworking toolbox from wood, woodworking toolbox from leather. Awesome.

Gorgeous! Nice work Jimmy.
Cheers,
John
Fun project Jimmy, you have inspired me so much over the last years
Beautiful work!
And a nice measuring-trick for the nails, I´ll keep that in mind!
So simple yet just an awesome end product. I need to save some pennies to buy some leather to make one of these. Thanks for doing what you do Jimmy.

Beautiful, simple and functional! Amazing work as always jimmy :D
simple but very clean looking. i dig it. i'd even consider making it and using it regularly. very cool Mr. D!

Very Nice JD! Thanks for the great tips! I learn something new from every single video you do! Have A Super Week!.....Gus
Beautiful leather toolbox, thank you for sharing your amazing video
Never apologize for making anything Jimmy!
Sometimes I think Jimmy can not surprise me anymore and suddenly ... he does it again with incredible style and design! That's why he's the godfather!
The simplicity is beautiful. I'd love to have this as a handbag
This is awesome and it has given me an idea for a project! Nice work!
Another very Education / Entertaining video , it amazes me that I always pick up a new tip on every single thing you do....Stay well my brother
Looks great! I think some small legs on the bottom, or something like that, would come in handy to keep the leather from rubbing against the floor.
excellent work buddy I love your leather working you come up with some great great ideas for projects this is one of the best ones you've made awesome work brother.
lovely build, thank you Jimmy
This is great. I'm gonna make small ones for my chisels, screwdrivers, and spanners. I also found two huge pieces of leather exactly like yours in the video. .
love this video, I learnt a few new techniques in this Jimmy so thanks for sharing!!
Very nice take on the tool box. I never considered using these materials in this way. Cheers
I like this video a lot. It reminds me of the older videos that you did in the past. I found it more interesting.
Super nice Jimmy! I'm gonna make one for my self.
Beautiful box and nice techniques used. Cheers!

Wonderful manner of presentation, great design and very practical : Thank you
great video great use of leather keep up the great work!
Jimmy does have a lot of tools to tote. Nice work, looks great.
Really cool Jimmy! 👍
What a great job. I REALLY like that.
Thank you so much.
It's beautiful.
👍👍👍👍
Wow thats look so good for light tools or little tools
Thanks budy nice job
You just gave me an awesome idea for a travel bar and cigar humidor.

Parabéns Diresta, adoro seus trabalhos
Never thought about using leather for so much of the container. Nice video, thanks

Looks really nice Jimmy, but stop showcasing mediums. I'm still playing catch up with wood, resin & steel....
Peter Brown hahah maybe the last one. Not sure
This looked more like a large?
You ... nailed it
Great Project, looks great.....

Love and respect!!
Very nice tote!
Jimmy I was thinking as you put it together that I'd add a wooden floor to the bag. Always thinking always creating.
Great job Jimmy
beautiful box!
simple , i could do that , great video jimmy
I like that leather too I think things you make with it have a lot of character to
best 7 minutes all day!
That's awesome, I'm gonna have to pick up some heavy leather. One nitpicky suggestion I have would be to clip off the corners on the top end of the lock, like you did with the ends of the handle.
So so simple, yet I love it.
Looks very nice
I've made one very similar only I added an extra strip of 8oz to the bottom for rigidity and I used a swing clasp instead of the loop.
Simple and beautiful👍
Beautifully simple.
Great project!
Was this the last official project in the NYC shop?
Peter Brown 😭
Peter Brown I bet there will be some special celebration video on the last day.
Mmh kinda feel like i'm going to miss the white brick walls and feel of the building. Guess its cause i have lived so long in apartment building and worked my self in the cellar... it just has its own feel, places like that.
Peter Brown x

Been looking forward to this!
Avrohom Perl Same!
Me too!
Avrohom Perl Me too. Something satisfying about the nails and the leather.
Good Video, congratulations!
Very nice think I'll try to make one.👍
Love this one
I learned something..always. Thanks D
I like the tote a lot. Design is simple and useful. The ferrous tacks and the leather are possibly going to be a problem. If they are steel, they will eventually discolor the leather. Might look cool though. Thanks, Jimmy
wow! that's beautifull!!
so simple but effective and decorative.
Very cool build! I did not know you can mix wood with leather that way. I thought the soft leather would work itself out of the wood
Thank you for the video + inspiration.
What type of glue do you use for the leather? It looks like wood glue but I cant tell. Thank you
dude, u r the man. ✋
Thanks! That would make a great laptop case with a few tweaks.
Very nice! I would deff buy one! Will you put any kind of rubber feet on the bottom to protect the leather from wear?
it's beautiful...
Inspired.
Again.
Than you.
I'm curious what is the glue that you always us? it seems like you use it for everything from book binding to wood
@core77inc How sound do you find this punch rivets to be? I'm looking to make a kind of wooden backpack (don't ask) and I think punch rivets are gonna be the way for the straps
I like it I may try to make something myself and use it as a lunch box
Hermoso trabajo!
Thank you sir!!!
Nice one Jimmy
Interesting that you were able to hammer tacks into that hardwood...how'd you pull that off?
I’d suggest using brass or copper tacks as they wouldn’t attract rust... and maintain a longer life.
I'm 1:27 and loving it already.
ah oak palette wood. fine, very fine
great work. I have the same plan, may be with some little changes but nearly the same. Please let me know do you use wood glue for gluing leather on leather or not. May by some of your new projects can be roll bag for knives. Tx
Maestro!!!!!
Nice man-bag!
That's pretty sweet
Any chance that you can tell me how long did the glue last? it has been a while since you made the video so it would be pretty interesting to see how it aged. I think its pretty awesome
the furniture tacks kind of resemble the box joints on the wooden box
great Job

Jimmy that looks fantastic Just out of curiosity, what would something like that cost?
Thanks for sharing
MAGNIFIQUE !!!!!!
where did you get that Heat stamp dude!
