My mom had a box like this when I was growing up that she used to store her sewing supplies. It's a brilliant form factor for small parts. Yours is amazing, and she would be so envious!
I still have some hexagonal plastic ones. I don't remember the brand name. The concept is cool, but not very practical in use. When they are unrolled they use a great deal of space.
nicely done! I have this one in plastic. It's Great if you need something from it at 11 pm and you want to wake up everybody at the house and maybe your nearest neighbor
@@BrassLock mine is more of an organizer and the last section works as a tool box. it is made of hard shell plastic with tons of sub dividers. it makes a really loud rattling noise every single time. :D
One of the things I really like about your videos is when there’s complete silence. No need for music and it’s easy to see what you are doing. It feels like I’m actually watching you in the shop and does a really good job of representing the calming factor of making things
Your patience never ceases to amaze me. It was nice to see a different finish with the wax, good to mix things up from the usual. I think a soft interior on the boxes would be most practical.
This is incredible. I’m addicted to your videos and so inspired to improve. I especially like your tone of voice and the way you speak and describe things - it’s so lighthearted and simple and calming. I also aspire to be more like this mentally, instead of having a serious and rushed undertone, which I personally struggle with!
What a neat little piece. I can envision a craftsman showing up with that to carry tools and rolling it out. The customer instantly thinks this guy knows what he is doing if he makes that to lug his tools around :).... Well done as always.
my father had one of these plastic boxes back in the eighties. It was made out of a really ugly plastic looking like fake wood . Your version is way more elegant, well made and looking very good. Thanks for sharing!
WOW!! That is just an AMAZING box, useful for all kinds of small DIY hobby materials. Nails, screws, bits and tools for woodworking. Pearls, strings, etc. for jewelry making. Pens and crayons for painting. The possibilities with this amazing box are endless. Not "just" in what can be used to contain, but also in sizes, colors and choice of materials. And the boxes could be painted in different colors with very thin paint to show the structure of the wood and the handcraft.
this is absolutely beautiful! i had a tackle box like this when i was younger and it has been my favorite of all time. everything stays where it is put and its compact. i absolutely LOVE this kind of container.
BRAVO!! That is truly a work of art my friend. I've liked all the other challenge projects so far, but this one I love. Anyone can throw their tools haphazardly into a box, but it takes a true craftsman to throw their tools haphazardly into a box that UNROLLS!! Love it. I keep all my forging tools (minus the hammers) in a waxed canvas tool roll, so this really appeals to me
Your results from winging it go so much better than when I wing it; this is a great project that I may try, and your tool box just looks great. Thanks for making the season a bit brighter for all of us
Usally when I get a youtube notification, I think "Hmm, do I really wanna watch this?". But if I see that Pask has a new video, I think "I have to watch it, NOW! Everything else can wait."
Gave me pause for thought at the beginning; my sister had the plastic one and all the trays were different dimensions and the plastic hooks that 'interlocked' to hold it together started to snap off, then the strapping started to peel away. You nailed it though, Neil. I should never have doubted!
Very nice, I have one for my small chisels! It's very nice and keeps things very orderly! I have a small leather one for my calligraphy kit too, for my hikes. Thank you for sharing your great work!
I have been wondering what kind of cases I was going to build for my leather working tools and my firearms gunsmithing and cleaning implements. Now, I know. That box looks fantastic!
I swear that when I was a kid, my piano tuner had a kit like this in mahogany that he used to strap the the back of his moped! Perfect for all the accoutrements of his trade. It must have been quite old in the sixties and I can still see the old worn leather straps with buckles that held it together! Thanks for sharing and bringing back such memories. Hadn’t given him a thought in years!
This is a brilliant design and a great job done. There are numerous videos promising to show how to make this or that out of "scrapwood". Invariably, what they call "scrapwood" are those left over 8-foot by 12-inch walnut boards that accumulate in every workshop just taking up space. Every workshop has a heap of this stuff kicking around, right? I WISH! What I love about your scrapwood challenge videos is that you really do use scrapwood. We all have a scrapwood bin with these odd bits of wood that might come in handy but usually just accumulates. These are truly useful videos with worthwhile projects. So thank you for these useful and realistic ideas.
Your projects are always top notch and enjoyable! Must add, I have found the six-sided version most helpful with brushes, paints, etc., to chisels and carving kit. Thanks!
I think this may be the best scrapwood challenge yet! I can imagine so many different uses for a box like this. Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas.
I find your videos to be entertaining, fascinating and incredibly satisfying! Your talents are evident in both your approach to and execution of your projects. The results are always exceptional and thoroughly enjoyable to see them come to life in your hands! Bravo! Subscribed!
I'm no carpenter myself, but when I was doing manual labour on construction sites, I learned a few tricks. To help with the mismatched hole fill colour, wait for the putty to mostly set, but before it dries, sand over it. This way the putty picks up some of the danding dust and the colours match a lot better.
beautiful I agree with you about the nail holes at close inspection and a magnet and finger hole would be a nice long term thing, maybe a small thump grove above the magnet. NICE JOB
Like all of your projects, this is inspirational and beautifully executed; but my favorite part by far is learning that snaps are also called "press studs." That's ALL I'm calling them from now on. Thank you for all your wonderful work and your infectious creativity and positivity.
That tool box is AWESOME!!!! I've never seen one like it before and I've now got serious toolbox envy 😂. This is definitely going on my "to make" list 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great box!! I may try this myself for a fathers day gift for my father. beefing up the handle would be a nice upgrade. Filled with tools it might get a lot more weighted and a nice grip around that strap handle would do wonders. Also the strap would have to be deeper allowing a hand maybe even gloved to fully fit in there comfortably to carry to site.
Your videos have inspired me to build things from scrapwood. I currently work at a bigger company, that gets a lot of steel on pallets and thus throws away a lot of used wood. Both soft and hardwood are used for the pallets. After using a planer, saw and sanding the wood, it looks really good and are great for smaller projects.
Exactly what my wife said looking over my shoulder while I watched the video. 😅 If one put in some velvet or ring holders or so, it could be an perfect present. Sadly I have no thickness planer. With hand tools it would take an eternity 😅
I remember having some sort of play set or a carrying case for toys that I had when I was a really young kid. You actually unrolled it a lot like this toolbox does and as you unroll it there's little areas for different toys to be placed. I don't remember what happened to it but this brought back of a ton of nostalgic memories from my childhood.
Great project!!! The next one will be the episode 49, is there any possibility of having an extra eposide by the end of this year? So we closed the year with 50 episodes of scrapwood chalenge and reassured those who have oct disorder ...
That sir, is a really nice piece. A ballsy experiment with little room for error. The woodworking equivalent of stunt work. I do love a good bit of geometrics.
On the SIXTH day of Scrapwood week Neil made something neat! Six boxes splaying! Five WOOD Puzzles! Four flipping clocks! Three hinged stools! Two hand-carved bowls! And a snowflake, cut from shavings!
Welldone! You are a craftsman. I am a lazy man, I bought a plastic hexogonal one with 12 boxes for my small tools and screws and another square one for pencils and brushes in the Netherlands, Europe. It is called Rolykit.
You are one talented man. I love watching your videos. Keep them coming. You make everything you make look simple, makes me think I can do that same project.. God bless.. Stay safe.. Hello from South Carolina, USA..🇺🇸♥️🌹

Nice
Hi Mr Pask. Thank you for the amazing content! This episode was an absolute joy to watch. Like the others! 😁 Thanks!
Where did you purchase those extra-small hinges?
I can see those being incredibly popular with artists, we like to protect our paints etc and really love the caddy to be beautiful.
I have way too many people on my list that could use one of these!
Like...all of them :D
me: wondering how much oak (and time!) I have...
My mom had a box like this when I was growing up that she used to store her sewing supplies. It's a brilliant form factor for small parts. Yours is amazing, and she would be so envious!
Was it a strange brown plastic and called a Rolykit ?
I've still got mine from the 80's 👍😁
That is stunning, could be a great addition to a camping kit with all the cutlery requirements.
Or a very cool toolbox. Great project really nice
That's a clever thought. 👍
Damn.. now I'll have to make 2! Or maybe even 3! With 2 clip on plates and bowls at the ends!
Never thought someone would bring back the Rolykit. In wood.
😊👍👍🤝🇲🇨🇲🇨
I had one. Put micro machines in it.
I still have some hexagonal plastic ones. I don't remember the brand name.
The concept is cool, but not very practical in use. When they are unrolled they use a great deal of space.
I got two plastic Rolykits, two different sizes. I like them to keep my tiny tools in one place. One made outta wood is cool!👍👌
I’ve got one in cheap plastic, it’s quite handy.
It's nothing short of amazing! The ingenuity, the craftmanship, the attention to details... you got yourself a new subcriber, Sir!
nicely done! I have this one in plastic. It's Great if you need something from it at 11 pm and you want to wake up everybody at the house and maybe your nearest neighbor
Because all the tools fall out?
*OR*
It's hard plastic, making every tool rattle?
@@BrassLock mine is more of an organizer and the last section works as a tool box. it is made of hard shell plastic with tons of sub dividers. it makes a really loud rattling noise every single time. :D
LOL
@@BrassLock it’s hard plastic. They are called Rolykit. And they came in awful color. My parents had two yellow ones
Yeah it looks lovely and intricate, but I can't think what I would put in it!?
Even your scrapwood projects turn out better than most of us could ever dream. Well done, Neil.
One of the things I really like about your videos is when there’s complete silence. No need for music and it’s easy to see what you are doing. It feels like I’m actually watching you in the shop and does a really good job of representing the calming factor of making things
I truly love your wood work Mr. Pask Perfectionist
Much appreciation for how you include the mistakes AND their solutions.
Your patience never ceases to amaze me. It was nice to see a different finish with the wax, good to mix things up from the usual. I think a soft interior on the boxes would be most practical.
Masterpiece scrapwood challenge. Brilliant. Thanks for sharing and a Happy Christmas to you and the family, Neil.
Thanks very much Mandy! And Merry Christmas to you too! :)
Genuinely unique build. Love it. It gives off almost steampunk vibes. A kind of fantasy re-imagining of an everyday box.

Now I'm feeling like I need an octagonal roll-out toolbox. Almost strongly enough to put this at the top of my list.
this is absolutely beautiful!
i had a tackle box like this when i was younger and it has been my favorite of all time. everything stays where it is put and its compact.
i absolutely LOVE this kind of container.
Absolutely gorgeous! 😍 Please tell me I'm not the only one who only needs to hear the Scrapwood Challenge theme music to instantly feel happy 😅
Hayy friend 🙏🤝🤝🤝🇮🇩
Wonderful job Neil. Very interesting
Thanks very much Scott! Have a great Christmas mate! :)
Brilliant as ever. Concept, execution, honesty. The complete package, mate, and so entertaining to watch and listen to.
Thanks very much Matt! :)

This is one of the most ingenuous ideas I've seen in hundreds of videos.
Something about your scrapwood challenges really calls to me. Love them.
And this box is *beautiful* at the end.
*Well done Neil;* this and the stool are my favorites so far.
One of the most satisfying and best wood working channels on youtube
Nice. Possibly good for a carving set, or the world's best lunchbox. 😊
Lunch for the whole crew.

This is absolutely beautiful! You should be extremely happy with it. Wonderful work!
This turned out beautiful. Super useful for organising small tools that usually end up kicking around a drawer some place never to be seen again.
I have been wondering what kind of cases I was going to build for my leather working tools and my firearms gunsmithing and cleaning implements. Now, I know. That box looks fantastic!
This was my thought... the way it unrolls makes it perfect for a specialist tool box. The kind of thing you get out for one particular purpose.
@@iamgerg Plus, it makes your specialty tool set a family heirloom.
I was thinking of how to store my embroidery stuff given the awkward shape small "tools" and round hoops(surprise)

Niel, this is a keeper. But then, all your content are keepers!
Beveling the tray sides after assembly is a great idea! Very intriguing project. You can build and size them to suit a purpose.
Absolute Masterpiece, excelent shown how easy to build
beautiful
I agree with you about the nail holes at close inspection and a magnet and finger hole would be a nice long term thing, maybe a small thump grove above the magnet. NICE JOB

That's a stunning tool box. I can see myself carrying it with my crafting items in so that they're easily to hand.
Mind officially blown, that was/is amazing.

This one is definitely going on the three pages and growing list of projects/things I want to make! An excellent idea that was marvelously executed.
When I saw just the thumbnail before reading the title, I thought it was a mug and some food tray thing :v
Like everything you make, this is gorgeous!
You are such a refreshment to woodworking . Thank you Julien Lamarche
You said tool box, but i heard jewelry box.😀❤️
Exactly what my wife said looking over my shoulder while I watched the video. 😅
If one put in some velvet or ring holders or so, it could be an perfect present. Sadly I have no thickness planer. With hand tools it would take an eternity 😅
my thoughts exactly! although, without the outer trays, this would also make an awesome, very unique clutch.....translated for guys: a handbag ;-)
Scrapwood challenge is my favourite series on youtube
9:00 it looks like a little coffin factory :)
coffin for barbies

6 out of 7 days and I already miss these after tomorrow! Don’t stop never stop! Awesome work.
I actually like how the nail filler stands out a bit.... I'd leave it that way. Love this project

The best woodworking project video I ever saw
0:27 "I'll prepare the offcuts the fast way." Nooo! Not the magic of video editing!
This has been my favourite of your projects to date. And I like all of your stuff.
Hey Pask, well done. What type of glue did you use to glue the leather on?
Thanks, it was contact adhesive. :)
Woodful projects :
What is the meaning of your sign?
I had a plastic one of those as a kid for my fishing kit. I loved it so much.
I had the plastic version, what a pain in the a$$ all it took was one misplaced screw and you couldn't get it closed - I grew to hate it!
It was a fun project though! ;)
How about a thin lid inside each tray?
Right up there with my favorite so far Neil, eager to see the next 7th day challenge project. Looks awesome!
It's always nice to have a personal OCTOPUS at your side!!!
Nice job, and...Merry Christmas!!!
I did not see that coming till you were half way done. Wonderful to watch you work! Thanks for sharing!
That sir, is a really nice piece. A ballsy experiment with little room for error. The woodworking equivalent of stunt work. I do love a good bit of geometrics.
its always the final presentation that appeals to the eyes and i must say it looks pretty good
On the SIXTH day of Scrapwood week Neil made something neat! Six boxes splaying! Five WOOD Puzzles! Four flipping clocks! Three hinged stools! Two hand-carved bowls! And a snowflake, cut from shavings!
I think this is one of the coolest Scrapwood Challenges yet! Way to go, man, this is amazing!
Brilliantly thought out and executed as usual. Like the use of ca glue to hold the hinges, very clever.

I often took a look at this box type. its such a neat thing, but it also takes up a lot of deskspace. But in wood its so much nicer. Great job.
Not sure how practical it will be to use, but it's ingenious and beautiful. A true masterpiece!
What a beautiful yet useful thing. Form follows function...
Fantastic projects, I would also suggest putting magnets in the trays so they could be used to hold metal bits and pieces without worrying they would shalsh about.
