In this video I make a TIG welded aluminum camera box .. I recently went to a TIG welding class at Lincon welding school. The aluminum drops are from a fan that makes diesel tanks , I got it 8-9 years ago! I can not remember who sent it if it was you thank you!!! (jimmydiresta@me.com)

The 5 stages of watching Jimmy build stuff.
1: This looks like it's going to be interesting.
2: Well I've never seen that technique before.
3: The heck are you doing JImmy?
4: What? Just What?
5: OMG its BEAUTIFUL!
6: OMG, the video is at actual speed! He really works that fast!
🥰🥰🥰💪🏼😂
Those are the same stages I go through when I watch a Bob Ross painting.
I liked how you spaced the bottom or tops from the sides with utility knife blades,I will remember that, thanks for all you do for the community🤗😎🤗😎
I like how he gave us the tip by using it. He didn't even have to use words.
So many things to learn within each video of yours! Thanks for all that you do Jimmy! Truly a master craftsman. Proud to be alive alongside 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
Come on Jimmy. You're better than pitching bs test boosters and fat burners.
Agreed, it’s all worthless😅
let the guy get his bread man, you're enjoying his content for free
There are at least a hundred lessons contained within this vid for even the seasoned craftsman. Amazing, as always.
Impressive build! I like how you grain matched the aluminum drawer face.
One way of ensure that polished aluminum doesn't show any fingerprints is to cover it in fingerprints, that way you won't see the fingerprints.
We all know the real motivation of this project was to show how good you’ve gotten with the TIG machine. Very impressive work man!
Great build. It's cool seeing woodworking tools used for aluminium.
WOW! What a design and that red really compliments the silver and the walnut. It reminds me a little bit of the old road cases rock bands used to pack mics and gear in but with a cool twist! Very nice work Jimmy!
So awesome. I love how you make everything look so effortless. Amazing work!
That's beautiful! Now you can check your face for any grease or dirt before going inside for the evening, and you can blind everyone around you when you're working in the sunshine! It's cool hearing you talk about this project in the Making It podcast, and then seeing you create the tool chest. Big up from Upstate NY (Glens Falls)✌️
Very artistically done. Glad the TIG lessons have paid off.
Fabulous! Like it fell through a worm hole from a galaxy far far away! Thank you for sharing how you made it!
In my 45 years as a boiler operator and boiler inspector I don’t think I’ve ever seen welds that nice before. Well done.
Well, if you havent, im scared to be around anything that was welded by the welders you inspected. I hope they received better training after your inspection. Could you send us a list? :p
@@beebop4333Come on man
Oh please. Those are some very decent shop welds for a maker, but don't try to talk them up to the standards of what a professional welder would do on a pressure vessel of any sort.
Jimmy is a genius at what he does, but there's no need to try to portray him as a welder of the caliber of which you're speaking of.
The beauty of your videos is not so much the objects themselves, but the way you make them, that is, in your own way. . passa un buon weekend
You are a fine craftsman. It is such a pleasure to watch your work. Thanks one more time!
Spectacular work! Great job on reusing the hardware!!
Thank you Jimmy great build.
Classic Jimmy video editing - loved it!
Looks really great. The way you made the dove tail joints was just so smart and looked really good. Very shiny as well. Brilliant job.
As the name suggests dovetail joints look like a dove's tail. They're angled fan like. \ / What's used here is called a box joint. Which is often confused with dovetails due to a superficial similarity. They are considerably different joints though. You'd be hard pressed to cut decent dovetails on a table saw. I won't say it can't be done but no one does it. machined dovetails are cut with a router and a jig template.
Thanks for that I didn’t know the name for that joint but do now. Either way it does look smart and was a smart idea.
@@1pcfred You can cut decent dovetails on a table saw, but you have to build jigs to make it happen. I want to say Tamar at 3x3 customs made a video about it years ago, and made some damn good joints with it. They didn't look hand cut, but they were certainly dovetails. Although given the jig and the setup time, if I were using a table saw I'd go box joint as it's a much easier and more repeatable setup. So you're right, it can be done on a table saw but it's a lot of work.
@@ejthompson4950 the main problem is the corners of the tails are not right angles. So they cannot be cut properly with right angle tools. No jig can change that either. You'd need a beveled blade to cut that angled corner. But no one has one of those. If you want to machine cut dovetails you use a router. That's the sensible solution. It's what everyone does.
@@1pcfred ridge carbide makes beveled blades for making exactly that sort of cut. I don’t remember if Tamar used special blades or cleaned up the corners with hand tools. It is possible and the tooling exists but unless you’ve got a production shop setup running multiple table saws for each blade type and angle…. No one is really using the tablesaw method at home.
Very amazing work as always. Pretty cool to see the Tig put into action like that!
This is outrageously good. I love everything about it.
Mind blowing, every time!!
Such a pleasure to watch!
That’s a beautiful combination of materials, awesome work as always
Nice job. Penetration on the inside of the lid looks great. Nice color on the weld pool.
Super awesome!
You built my dream toolbox!
Thanks for sharing 👍👍👍
Awesome tool box! Thank you for the tips on box joints too. Thank you for sharing!
Awesome toolbox. Thanks for posting and thumbs up.
So good to be able to make what you need. The cameras have a good spot to be stored.
15:30 Damn, that's a lot of cameras. No wonder he's got 2 million subscribers!
Amazing work!
Absolutely fantastic such tight tolerances looks amazing 👍👍👍
I absolutely love the fact that you use things as measuring devices!! "What size is that radius?" Jimmy "I dunno, about a half used roll of masking tape!" Beautiful job sir!
Since it’s aluminum you could run a radius on the weld seams. Cut, buff, and polish. But the tig walking looks good too.
Beautiful toolbox! Your tools thank you for a nice home.
You never do anything short of excellent, and I guarantee that there is a market for those tool chests…
this guy has so many great tips on how to make things, love to watch! 😅
Man! You lay down a decent looking bead!
Another masterpiece Jimmy!
That's a great looking combination of materials & colour
@14:30 The Jimmy Diresta step drill bit. "I'm gonna step over here and get me a bigger drill bit." Always so much to learn on one of Jimmy's videos. Thanks.
Beautiful !
This reminds me of the videos from the old Manhattan basement shop. Always fantastic to watch you work sir.
So I have to give you so much credit for my confidence in the shop. I always learn new techniques and you work flawlessly while remaining humble. I love it. Thank you.
WOW!!! Beautiful piece.
God bless!
I have the feeling we are going to be seeing more aluminum in future projects. Fantastic video, thanks for sharing!
The skill needed to build a simple drawered box is really never ending.
Unground welds did it for me, just awesome. True Diresta style👌.
Another great work from you! Amazing result! 👏
Great stuff Jimmy 👌
Hello Jimmy good job beautifully done
Very nice I built a walnut box similar to that years ago. Had it six days before someone stole it. I'm still mad
I'm always delighted watching a master fabricator at work. A beautify Camera box. Great video and I'm looking forward to more on the Graveyard house.
That's a very nice grip. Keep up the good work.
That is one fine looking tool box you made, good post, cheers !
Smashing box Mr Diresta!
Amazing work
Did you come up with the razor blade thing or was that something you learned? Either way that was genius!
Absolutely incredible, Jimmy! It is beautiful👏👏
Nicely done..
Thanks for sharing.
What awsome skills 🙏
Incredible job I put some comments on the patreon version. I was just watching your rockler tool box last week.
Simply Stunning Sir. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Love and Respect from North London UK
As an aircraft sheet metal mech, I'm disappointed you didn't rivet the hinge and latches. Great work though!
I agree! I wondered also why the bolt heads were on the inside?
What a craftsman you are Jimmy!
Would of been awesome
I hate rivets😂
Yea Jimmy- everyone knows that rivets make toolboxes more aerodynamic! Lol 😉
This is definitely one of the coolest toolboxes I’ve seen in a while. Well done!
Love watching the way you approach things 👏👏👏 another very cool piece👌👌
Great job as usual Mr Diresta
Like always Jimmy that is awesome. Love your work you inspire us all. We need more of you in the world.
Thanks Jimmy! 👍👍👍
I have never found gluing box joints to be a satisfying experience... I can't wait to make some box joints now after seeing your technique with ca glue... Thank you!
very photogenic.
Great film. The box is a beauty. Cool twist putting the nuts on the outside. Great welding job. I need to get me some Thixo! Mahalo for sharing! : )
Outstanding
You always make me believe I can do stuff - thank you so much for your inspiration.
Great minds think alike. Ive been wanting to build a similar box for work lately. I wanted an overlapping lid or rain groove in mine in case i leave it outside. Corner protectors, mainly for looks. Aluminum upper tray. Thanks for video
With a Slickness... like the wood interior construction.
ESPECTACULAR trabajo maestro,no hay más palabras.🔝👍🤓😜
That sure is a shiny box!
I both love and hate how easy you makes this look. Best toolbox ever.
Well done
love it brotha!
Great project , my welding skills are not even close to that level but I I'm working on it thanks to some great tips I got a makers camp
Nice work Jimmy. The red felt and walnut go so well together. But, I'm thinking that maybe you need another GoPro or two, and definitely need an icepick in there. Those icepicks are just so handy to have around!
Shiny! Looks great
That is beautiful! I love it. Nice use of the Wera screwdriver. I've had one for about 5 years and it is EDC at work for me.
💪🏼🙏🏼👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
That's a pretty sweet little toolbox!
metal, wood, felt, glue.
all a growing boy needs.
TIG welding leveled up for sure
Looks great. Time to see if my finish is dry so I can do other projects which it’s not. I need two shops
O_O that intro was a straight up flashback to waking up in the middel of the night with tv shop glaring on the telly...
Nice Skills.
You really improved with your welding man!
Respect from Egypt jimmy 🎉
Beautiful! A box you'll be polishing for the rest of your life!
Classic Diresta! 😉
Beautiful
....SPEECHLESS,WOW!!!!!!!
noice welds getting really good!
I want this tool box!!
Good work. If i were to build that box i would waterproof all bolts and holes.Water has a way of finding its way in.
