You need to level your deck , load and go kit is amazing , also I cut a full throttle , wide open , you get a better cut , also sometimes when you stop quickly while cutting you can get a big dump of clipping under the mower , just go over it again and it usually takes care of the spot that or slow down before you turn the mower off

Your gouge line is probably due to the fact your deck is either not level on each side and or your wheels are not adjusted correctly. Make sure you use the level gauge on the deck and that it is where it needs to be at all three points, side to side and front. Then make sure you have about a flat finger width underneath the wheels when the deck is all the way down and then try it again. Obviously do all of this on a flat surface.

Deere's MO has always been to always make the cool & handy features an add-on, creating a just about guaranteed secondary revenue stream. This is how cars were in the 70s. Options lists a mile long.
