Thank you so much! I've been trying to figure this out for a while. Tried your first suggestion and balanced all the tires air pressure wise. IT WORKS!
At 3:36 "... if you do end up hitting a rock or stump or some other protrusion..." That's just part of mowing my yard. LOL I got about two acres to mow. The previous owners didn't take care of the yard as the should. I got most of the rocks out, working on the stomps and leveling areas that scalp easy. That was a big help. Good info to know. Maybe someday I'll have that golf course yard like you do Courtney.
Courtney, thanks for the mower tips. While I don't mow with my 1025R, your info is valuable to all mowers including my 300 series mower. Have a great day Sir
Thanks. I have the small e120 where the cut this year looks wrong. I heard it could be a bent blade even though it has never touched anything. Now I have other more likely causes to check out. Thanks again.
JD series 100 mowers have 3 points of connection to the frame -- one that pivots at the front center and two fixed at the back of the deck. By its vary design it will not cut level on slopes because of the lack of a second connection point at the front of the deck allows the mower to gouge the lawn on the lower side of the slope. Mowing at 4” highest setting makes it more noticeable.
Good video. Just started using my 60" deck on 1023e when Zero turn was in shop. No matter how high I adjust it by the knob, even at 4" it scalps the heck out of the grass. How might that be adjusted, the Turnbuckle type devices?
Good reminder, I replaced my X738 blades recently. Besides being extremely dull one was bent. Yard looks much better now. I bag the grass around the house and take the bagger off to mow the lots out back. I do not change the adjustment even though It effects cut quality.
When I raise and lower the deck, the left side stops where I got the height knob set, but the right side drops right to the ground. If ignore the knob and just set the height with the lever it sits level.
My simplicity tractors rest on the rollers in the back and pivot on the frame. And I find my 60 inch decks are more likely to get out of level than my 48 inch decks.
Thanks for the video.....what are your thoughts on lowering the deck wheels to just above the height of the mower deck height (during mowing) to prevent scalping?
Hello can I put the deck height on 1 so the wheels are in contact with the ground and then step on the deck to get on the seat ? The reason is that I'm handicapped but I don't want to damage my deck. I just have a JD X584 48" deck. Thx
@@GoodWorksTractors I'd like to see that video too. I was looking to see if you had one on that topic while trying to figure out how to level mine. Keep up the great work!
No, there isn't much lift on them with all the "stuff" going on under the frame of the machine. If trying to keep it from being damaged when using the loader or 3 point, it's best to remove the deck altogether. Thanks for watching!
I tried to lift my mower up against a stone wall. I think I messed up the Bolt that hold the front suspension bar you show way up in the year. What is that called and what is the part number of the bolt because I messed up the threads on the bolt.
I did all this on my D140. It's never cut even since the day I bought it and I've been fighting it for 9 years. It always leaves a slightly higher strip of grass right in the center of the path. I'll never buy another John Deere again. None of my neighbors or friends have this problem and they have everything except for John Deere.
I watched with great attention as I recently spent a good hour dialing in my new 2025R. It was 1.5" off from the dealer. I did everything you highlighted here and found to get my mower deck level all the adjustments were near the center of the range except for the left turnbuckle and it had to be lengthened to almost it's end.
I saw a video displaying this and it was the blade is slightly unevenly sharpened from one end to the other so that one end of the same blade cuts lower than the other end by just a small amount, or the same effect would be there if the blade is bent a small amount.
Hi, my name is Herbie. I enjoy your channel and l need your assistance. I'm looking for a bagging system for my John Deere 1023e tractor any use or compatible system not too expensive would be great. I live in Sedro-Woolley Washington
Interesting that the front of the deck is supposed to be lower. Rotary brush cutters are also supposed to be lower in the front when properly adjusted, so I guess it shouldn't be surprising that mower decks are as well.
Perhaps I can help with that! You want the front of the mower deck to be lower then the rear of the deck should you actually hit something with the deck it might bang on the front allowing you a chance to notice that you hit something…… instead of going over with the front and getting whatever tangled in the blades and rear of the deck!
@@GoodWorksTractors The reason the front should always be lower than the rear is so that you only have to cut the grass once. If the front is higher than the rear, your blades will mow the grass once at the leading edge of the blade/deck and then have to cut it again on the back side of the blade/deck, using 2x the power.
You’re asymmetrically loading the hanging brackets suspending your deck. Not saying it’s gonna knock it out of alignment automatically, it just isn’t designed to take that load and that’s why the manufacturer calls it out.
thanks - that does help, but i am looking to see how to turn the knob on the tractor to adjust the height. it does not turn and when i do turn it, it is very hard to adjust and turn. can you help or even email me please. thanks mike
My deck on my D130 is all of a sudden 2” out of level left to right (discharge side is higher). You can see the one side hanging much lower even when the whole tractor appears level. All the mechanical linkages look symmetrical and I don’t see any bent connector bars, etc. No video seems to address this. Anyone have any ideas?
Does anyone else have a problem with their mowing deck on their 1025r dragging and tearing the ground in the middle front of the deck? Makes me wish I would have gotten a Kubota with a wheel in the middle!

Thanks for the advice! I wasn't aware of the 1/8" lower on the front.
Great work by the hand model showing the measuring tool.
Ha! It took like 8 takes to nail it 🤣

Thanks Courtney! Hey, it looks like the draft arms on your mower deck caught on your parking stand too, mine did.
Did they? I gotta take a closer look!
So how do you adjust the height front to back?
This video was awesome. Looks like I have a lot of things to check on my john deere. Thank you

Definitely feels like a pain when you just want to go out and mow. But like everything, taking the time to do things right always pays off.
When I raise and lower the deck, the left side stops where I got the height knob set, but the right side drops right to the ground. If ignore the knob and just set the height with the lever it sits level.

Is all 4 wheels supposed to be in same hole
Thanks for the video.....what are your thoughts on lowering the deck wheels to just above the height of the mower deck height (during mowing) to prevent scalping?
Yeah, pretty much what the manual suggests doing and what I mention in the video.

can you help us with the front to back adjustment of the blade deck?
What size Bora spacers do you recommend that will work with a 60D MMM
I'd do some measurements, but would guess 1.5 to 2".
Should zero turn guide wheels be floating as well?
Have you made a video showing how to level the 1025R deck?
No, I haven't done so. It's on the list for the future though!

They probably could and might be :)
Is there a way to get the deck on a 1025R to raise up higher? Mine doesn't have much lift. I tried to adjust it, but that didn't help.

do you have any tips to eliminate very thin strips of uncut grass where cut of the center blade should be overlapping the cut of the outer blades?

How does hurt the deck to step on it.I always have?

Make sure to raise the deck up as high as possible before turning. When you lower the deck, it applies pressure to the rotation knob.

To keep you from double cut your grass
My "lawn" is so bumpy that even with a 42" deck on a lawn tractor at 4" height, I scalp constantly.
I wish I could find someone that would like to trade their 54 inch quick connect deck for my 60 inch quick connect deck!

Mine does that every once in awhile. Never have figured out why.
