I cut the grass in my neighborhood every two weeks with mulch blades. Reaper Gator blades, and I gotta say. If you open the discharge shoot all the way. The Mulch blades do just fine on tall grass. I’m running them on a husqvarna 48in deck with a 24hp motor.
That that you call mulching blades (the Gator type blades) are not true mulching blades. True mulching blades will have the wavy cutting edges. Those Gator type blades produce too much suction,…even with the notched sails (Gator teeth), to be used with a mulching kit. I only know from running Oregon G6 Gator blades. Those blades will produce a smaller clipping. However,…they will still throw them further than the high lift blades that came on my mower. After I installed the wavy blades and mulch kit,…then that’s when my mower started producing true mulched grass clippings. On the Oregon Gator blade website,…the G3 is the true mulching (wavy) blade of their G series. They don’t advertise it with the correct picture. That’s why the G3, G5, and G6 blades look the same when you research them. The G6 is the heavier duty version of the G5.
I have a cub cadet with new mulching blades that I used to replace the high lift blades that came with it. I mow somewhat fast and I feel like I might be having more clippings than when I had the high lift blades? Do you have any input on that
Great info! Kudos for sharing relevant and pertinent facts as well as pros and cons of the two types of blades...its refreshing that you stayed on point!😊
I started mulching/fertilizing by plugging the exit, 35 years ago, with my underpowered electric corded. The cord was a problem until I used my head, working out a new system. Later, I was so happy to be free from the cord, but the batteries were too short lived at first. That is constantly changing with better batteries. Cutting noise/air pollution is my biggest concern.
Good info. i have 3 mowers, each with a different blade. One, is very powerfull, with mulching blade (the thick one). Mows anything, even 2 foot high stuff; just gotta take my time...but does a helluva good job. Hardly any '' evidence '' on the ground, after mowing/mulching ! Take care Tim (hortons' ? time ? : >)
I have a similar yet more extreme situation. Currently I have 3 push mowers and a riding mower. All 4 have a different purpose and all 4 get used regularly.
I have a craftsman YT3000. Every time a cut a get large clumps of grass. I have to back up to release the build up of grass under the mower. Unsure whT to do here
@@lamontwashington5286 Get that EXTREME deep-mulching blade, yellow one. EXpensive, but works like a charm. WHEN those hi-angle end flanges, wear down, i just weld a steel custom-sized plate to them. Adds to the life-span of it. IF grass is above 6 inches, raise the deck, to its' highest setting. Cut. Lower deck, for second round ....of the whole project. Do it , in stages....there will be just chaff on the ground. Take care.
I have really fast growing grass and it's often long when I cut it after only a few days and the grass looks bad because of all the grass thrown out but a mulching blade wouldn't help me.

@@snowishowitgoes are you running the wavy mulching blades,…or the straight edge blades with the Gator teeth?

Finally a good video on this topic.

I had a Toro timemaster with mulching blades and it left too much grass.... I replaced them with high lift blades and it does so much better.

Do they make a mulching blade for the Greenworks Pro 25" Dual Blade Lawn Mowers ?

Liar
these are not mulching blades, they're just mower blades
