It's all about heat - warm the trangia system up prior to cooking by putting some water in the pot and heating up the water for a few minutes. This warms the trangia walls up and gets the burner up to a good operating temperature. Great cooking, steak and veg!

I’ve got a 27 in anodised aluminium. Best cook system in the world , and I’ve had em all over the years. The gourmets choice !

Whatever it works for him . Most important thing here is It did a good enough job for him and his stomach is full .
Enough protein, vitamins and minerals packed colourful veggies . And coffee. It's looks he does knows what's up.

The way you cook that steak has convinced me you're actually vegan.

I think he definitely flipped it a few too many times which kept it from getting a good sear and allowed all the juices to cook out. Also why he cut it so many times? The cow was already dead. But let’s be honest, camp cooking will never be kitchen cooking

@Jack Warner I realized I was talking to somebody that doesn’t know how to cook the second they said “the only way to cook a steak is in a slow cooker”

You are an extremely good cook, it would seem? I like my steak cold and no salt in my peppers and onions and mushrooms too. The food was very eatable it looked good. The Trangia is a tried and tested bit of kit, I enjoy using it, but only use the burner and some sort of trivet. the stand and windbreaker are just too bulky for me. Thank you.

Interesting set up. Steak looks fine to me. You can cook me dinner on trail anytime! Man, these comments are brutal!! Don’t put up with that crap, Mike!

Hi SectionHiking The AT. Thank you for watching my videos.
I really don't mind what other youtubers's comments. I respect what they thinking and I know I am not a good cook. Ha Ha.

Just my preference but keep the steak frying on one side longer. Don't look at it or turn it over so much. I like a little grease crust on mine. thanks for the video!

I not sure why Momma never taught me about this before, but I have recently been introduced to boneless country ribs. Very cheap in Mississippi and it is better than pork tenderloin. I watched a grandma form Alabama cook them in butter, OMG. It would have cooked perfectly at that temp. Chicken tenders or breakfast meat would have been good too.

I have that same exact cook set and it cooks beautifully. If you use the gas burner, it is like cooking at home on my gas cooktop. I just wish it could be a wood gasifier in addition. It would be so perfect that I would not care if I had to put wheels on it and drag, I take it everywhere!

I’d have also put the steaks in and cooked the vegetables with them for great flavor.

Love the Trangia 27. Did you have enough fuel to boil the water for coffee? The veggies looked delicious!

Yes it was enough using the trangia 27 cook set I even had some left over but not using the 27 it is not enough. Using the 27 seems to be more efficient.

    • @iametoh

More efficient than what? The 25 perhaps? Please elaborate if you will.

Mix a bit of water into the alcohol to soften it up, also scrub with steel wool if U do get burn marks.

    • @jimbojet8728
      @jimbojet8728 5 років тому

Hi there Welshman, yeah the soot from the burning alcohol is a problem, but an easily solved one. One tablespoon of water , or just a tad, into your burner and hey presto! No soot! Sorted! Try it and see?

You don't flip steak so fast and often, it should get some color first. Otherwise interesting video. :)

@@theamazingfreak Right? I only flip my once ideally but fuck it, it's his steak and we don't have to eat it and the purpose of the video isn't the steak but the stove itself I thought (?)

I don’t know why you keep flipping the steak so often .....that’s not the way you cook a steak ....and why do you waste so much fuel .....you should have all your actions coordinated so that the stove is never burning without food cooking on it

    • @blueyonder1233

Come on, it’s his meal. I’m guessing by the look of the Trangia it was brand new & he’s getting used to cooking on it. Nobody wants to burn their food. But I’m sure he’ll take note of your suggestions.

With all those small bags of seasoning I was awaiting a bag of white powder for the nose. The sharp edge on that blade has held back my comment until now. ( and I’m standing well back from the the keyboard, out of slash reach!)

oh my god, that's animal cruelty what you do there. why do not you let the steak cook in the pan, so you do not cook with the Trangia, better go to Mc Donalds .... and please delete the video
