    I own the SOLO Stove Titan and use Hickory Wood Chunks in it. Must less need to tend to it and the Hickory taste makes the steak tender and yummy 😋 . Most big box stores carry the Hickory Wood Chunks in the BBQ section of their stores, often near the Grills. I spent 45 days van camping and the SOLO Stove was my main stove of choice to use for breakfast and dinner cooking needs. Love that stove!

    I find that cooking meat with the flame doesn't leave the meat tasting too good because of the carbon in the flames. What's better is cooking it over the coal bed. The issue with this stove is it burns so efficiently that the coal doesn't last long before you have to put more wood in. I think it's best for cooking using a pan/pot because you have to constantly feed the stove. Again that's just my personal experience. Great stove thought..

      That's exactly right. Pan fry the steak on the solo stove would be best. In a cast iron skillet

    Nice too watch, but you could really do with something on top of the grill too disperse the flame.
    Maybe a preferated sheet of stainless steel .
    It's easy to see you know how too cook, and it's lovely to see your pleasure in doing it.
    Take care, and stay safe chap.

    This is exactly what I was hoping someone would demonstrate. Just cooking meat over the open flame/coals and not in a pan. I could be wrong but I feel like what's the point of cooking over a wood fire if you're going to cook in a pan. It won't be able to get all the Smoky flavor. It's just hard to tell how efficient the solo stove would be for this. It looks like you got the job done though. Probably only handles a small steak but if it works it works. I'll probably stick to dakota fire holes but still I'm very interested in one of these for a quick meal outside.

      Chair is made by Alite. What I have is Mayfly 2.0 (3-LEGGED)
      I take that chair with me mostly overnight weekend trips.
      I don't plan to take this chair on a multi day hike because I count every ounce.
      This is my luxury item for weekend trips.
      Weight of chair is 1Lb 6oz and packs small.
      I really like to drink coffee sitting around a camp fire at night.
      I got mine from sierratradingpost.com and I paid $50.00 with free shipping.
      Regular price is $99.95

    Have you tried gathering all the sticks you will need and breaking them to size before lighting the stove ? Then after you get a flame just adding a piece every few minutes or when needed to maintain a more or less constant flame. Instead of having a roaring flame and then it dying to nothing and starting the process all over again. The only down side ( if you want to call it that ) I have found is that you have to regulate the fuel ( sticks ) to regulate the flame. The upside is we get to use what is natural and free.
    Happiness is a nice pile of sticks ready to use.

      Thank you for watching and good comments.
      I usually do pile up the chamber with sticks and let it burn from up to down when I don't cook steak on grill. I was trying to make small flame for cook slowly without burning my steak. I am still practicing in flame control with this set-up. However that steak end up good and I enjoyed.
      Solo Lite stove is burning 15 to 20 min. without adding sticks when I pile up good with dry sticks.
      I really like this little and lightweight wood fired gasifier stove.
      Thank you again for your comments.

    I'm worried about grease from the meat causing the stove to flame up. How would you get all the left over grease out from the bottom of the stove?

    • @mpark678
      @mpark678  7 років тому +2

      Hi Leonard Orth
      Thank you for watching and subscribe.
      There is no left over grease inside of stove. Because Solo Stove is a gasifier stove. I think .....?!
      Solo stove burns everything in the chamber and only leave a little ash every time.
      I don't know if you own a Solo Stove or not.
      Get one and use it if you don't have one yet. You will like it.
      Thank you again.

      These stove burn so hot that they basically are like a self cleaning oven. Only stuff on the outside at the bottom might get dirty but these things are a whiz to clean. Just wash off the outside after it cools down. I've not had any problem except once when some pasta boiled over. But only the bottom where the air lets in was dirty. Everything else was charred but clean as a whistle.

      Nah, just like mesquite or hickory wood chips, it simply imparts it's own "flavor" to the steak. That said, if I am forced to cook on pine, I'll be careful to try for coals-only grilling. My .02

    • @kellyjohnson3617
      @kellyjohnson3617 6 років тому

      Mine that's just like this was $15. Fits inside my Stanley cook pot. Like it better than the bush box overall. But both have their pros and cons. I use mine to cook on my patio when we are having hot weather and I don't want to heat up the house and spend more on AC.
