Nice too see😊 using that stove every year sins i was young. Now everytime when i travel whit my motorbike and camping. Made severel diners for 4 persons. But i went from alchol to gas, modify my trangia from 70s to 2000. Greatings from sweden and very proud for our little kitchen😊
Trangia: Always a good robust back up stove! My brother bought me mine when I was about 20, I am now 57 and it is still in excellent condition and working just perfectly. Maybe add a small Nalgene bottle of cooking oil to the kit. It always helps in case you forget to pack some with other food items. I also always have some tea or tea bags in with any stove just in case!! Thanks for another nice little film.
When I miss Japan, it is often a food memory that triggers the feeling. I love and miss Japanese cuisine. Sharing a meal makes people like each other or as the feel closer with strong bond. Eating the same food leads to trust and cooperation because they feel closer with the feeling of intimacy among those eating together, share the experience with eating and drinking.
If you make a habit of strapping the strap around the fuel bottle immediately after you open up the kit, you maximize the chance you'd not lose the strap.
That is a really nice little cooking kit! I could even see keeping one even if one doesn't use it for camping for emergency like power outages, etc. And as usual, your meal looked fantastic!!! Your videos are always up to scratch Andy. I know speaking for myself, I really enjoy the camp kitchen portions of any video.
Steak's perfectly cooked for me. Thanks for the effort and thought you've out into these little vignettes to keep your viewers entertained and distracted. God knows we need it. I'm just happy you can still get to your woodland.
I can tell you are "roughing it" without mushrooms! What a delightful meal and a pretty thorough kit! I quite like it especially for times of drought - much safer than a campfire when the countryside is dry. Well done.
Smart move "deglazing" the pan while it was still hot. That's the best way to clean it. If you wait until it's cold, you'll spend time scrubbing and will end up removing more than just stuck on food. It'll ruin any non-stick surface you've built up. Great job, Andy! Love your vids.
Andy ive been a stonch veggie for 25years But after watching this, and haze ,i went and bought a bit of fillet steak for myself !!! Just got to teach myself how to cook it right now .... All the best thanks for your chilled out videos ....
I had the same meal, less the wild garlic, on my Firebox yesterday. The weather was wonderful and the smell of the steak on a tiny grill was perfect. Thank you for being a positive voice and inspiration, in the face of adversity. Be well and take good care!
You have got to be one of the most nicest and calm people I’ve ever seen. Thank you for the wonderful content, it’s really a stress reliever watching your videos!
It is great to see the sense of community and support that can be generated on these platforms when so much of the social media dribble we see is pointless and negative. I'm absolutely certain that you have helped many people through these times with your videos mate. I find it heartening that with all the technology and what have you we have at our fingertips these days that the simple things can bring so much comfort when needed. Bit of a case of taking things for granted methinks. I will be heading out on a few short jaunts soon and am certainly looking forward to using my gear instead of tripping over it. Thanks mate.
Just bought one. I used one in my youth for solo trips. I have many cook kits. But this inspired me to go back to my routes. Got the gas burner too for convenience
Great little kit! Good cooking Andy. I was a professional chef for nearly 30 years before MS ended it. Good to see how well your cooking is going with the various camp kits!👍🏻
I highly recommend the British mtp camo respirator bag as an add on. It fits the 25 but I’m sure it would work with the 27 as well. It would offer you ample space inside to store all of your utensils and tools. The exterior pouches are great for storing fuel bottles. The bag comes with a shoulder sling which makes walking with the kit easy and it frees up your hands. I have a video about it… it’s an old video and due for an update.
Great job Andy! For a suggestion, I like to include a second burner with my kit (I have the larger Duosal). If your kettle can take it, add the second brass burner. This is handy when you exceed your 20 minute cook time, you can swap in the burner with fuel very rapidly. If you add your Bushbox flat at the bottom of the Trangia bag, you can have two burners on the go at once if required.
Thanks for the brilliant vids Andy. My wife and I are new to the channel and are working our way through the back catalogue. You are helping a lot of people to get through lock down and for that I salute you. Thank you.
Wish I could be out camping. Working is so stressful so I love to watch these.!👍🏻👍🏻👏👏🇨🇦. With that cooker I would move food to the outside of pan to slow the cooking 🥰
Nice video ... I was bought a trangia kit when I was 16 years old..I'm 41 now and it's still going strong .. brasso works brilliantly on the burner. I did hear that they changed the metal about ten years ago and the quailty is not as good but that one looks just fine.... I only use this now for car camping or fishing as it's too bulky for trekking.. I use the trangia triangle these days and it is a fantastic stove. Oh, meths is the best fuel in this stove, it does soot but you want the pans to be black on bottom and it burns real hot. Atb.
In my view, you really can't beat the Trangia system. Safe, efficient and comprehensive. The cutting board is a must. As with all good cooks, like the way you take trouble with prep. I've found that it's always a god policy to take two burners as - like you say - with a long-time cooking session, refilling a hot burner is a no-no. That meal got me envious and salivating big time. Great result.
good on you andy, for giving more inspiration! the trangia is always a good reliable bit of kit, never fails, and as far as adding anything to the set-up,maybe a few scrapes of kindling? as in the winter [although it rarely gets to -10 here] it may take a bit longer to get going...add that extra bit into the alcohol and light up... and just a note on wild garlic-a very delicious and nutritious native plant it is... but can people please be sure to properly ID it before eating it! as the Convallaria majalis, also known as lily-of-the-valley, often grows alongside and has quite similar leaves before flowering and can be DEADLY TOXIC ! be sure and be safe
What a great compact bit of kit and so simple to cook on, The trangia stove was the 1st item i purchased for my wild camping adventures, Thanks for posting the video Andy.
love Trangia products. You will at some point burn the O ring. hardware stores have them at little cost carry a spare. I carry a cooking mitt, have burned my hands too often. a simple match works best to light.
Peace in the midst of chaos! Keep doing your thing, it's so very much appreciated! My "happy place", Thank You again, it truly does make a difference!! Be safe and camp on! ❤
Bringing back a lot of good memories of canoe trips. My main cook set for them was a Trangia 27. It would handle any trip from a few days to a month and cooked a lot of fresh fish along with steaks. The Trangia and all my food was in a Rubbermaid Action packer and still is. It's a ideal system for keeping everything waterproof and even to cook on. .
My favorite cook system tbh mate ai have the 25 and 27 an gas and multi fuel burners too, other than what you have I also added the trangia plate which nests to the bottom of the kit and as well as a plate can be used as a second fry pan or a lid to the first fry pan to make a mini Dutch oven of sorts. Usede trabgias since I was a kid when at junior school and we'd go on day trips hiking and teacher would bring trabgias and sausages n buns for our lunches, 3 kids to a. Trangia, about 7 of them set up. Solid systems, a little heavy but super versatile.
Had one about 20 years ago, only have the burner now, the kettle died about 4 years ago ( become porous and dribbled from the bottom ) the only extra I used on it was a small cast iron skillet, better heat distribution, well that's my penny's worth, back to fixing land rovers and welding offroad camper trailer.
Ive had my storm kitchen ( Trangia) for over twenty years. Used with the kids for chicken wings and chocolate milk, would drag them in a polk around Voss.Extra stuff that i fit into the kettle ,Satchets of choc milk, Mc donalds salt n pepper satchets, tomato sauce packets. matches, candle, good knife, oil for cooking, toilet paper. Its been used on countless camping trips and even just as a kitchen set in camping huts. Just joined your channel from simon.
Thank you very much Andy for the videos they are truly amazing I love the content it's down to earth and very very informative I live in Camp Verde Arizona was born and raised in Tennessee seeing you with the green trees all the vegetation sometimes makes me homesick Lord bless you my friend
Love your videos! The wife and I are going to try and get out more this summer to do some camping. Its so easy to get caught up with the hustle of work life that you forget how amazing it is to be outdoors in Gods creation! Thanks again for the video!
I watch a lot of ‘bushcraft’ videos, all the top channels, and have found myself migrating to the cooking ones you do. I have watched a few multiple times. Keep up the great work. Alone in the woods cooking up some good food....love it
God bless you my friend. Just ordered the trangia 25 and looking forward to try some of your recipes. I live now at my parents place in the country side or in my van. Because I’m not allowed to do anything anymore in the city I used to live in where everyone got crazy anyways. So I’m practicing social distancing now by being on my own in the nature. Thanks again. Your videos helping a lot in this kind of situation.
Only time I watch your videos is early hours of the morning laying in bed, find it so relaxing, especially all the cooking videos, sometimes a catch 22 as I want to start cooking bacon at 4am!
I have travelled EXTENSIVELY with one of these, so I think I can add a few bits of advice, but btw Andy Walkaboutnutty has a video on his personal add-ons and mods to the Trangia, I recommend it. You can fit all that kit inside a bushpot, if going out with more people and/or want to cook with fire. Add a sponge (as said here) to keep things from rattling. Using a rag/microfiber cloth between the pots saves them from being scratched up, nicely done. You can cut out a silicone cutting board and put it inside - works as a little plate as well if need be. The MSR brush-scraper is pretty great to clean this up, as anodized aluminum cleans up nicely, but ig a wooden spatula is even better, I might have to swap mine out. Thanks, Kent. To light it I use a ferro rod, which works even in wet conditions, but the long lighter is fine. Some storm matches would too. Use the pot grabber as tongs for flipping meat an such. Works nicely with the SOTO one which has a spring. Add a strainer lid which doubles as a cutting board, or base for the whole setup. (or get a Soto one which you can use as a lid as well) Add a pot cozy, like the Soto Navigator, to keep things warm while rehidrating to save on fuel. Works well when cooking rice, couscous as you can remove from heat and it will continue cooking. You can also use it as a holder for the 1L pot as a bowl to eat from, which essential in some really cold weather if you want to eat your food warm. Add a Titanium plate as a makeshift lid. Or, like me, just buy the Alocs CW-CO5 which comes with a lid. Bring a piece of wire along so you can use it to adjust the simmering cap for the burner. (The alocs one you can adjust without removing the pot) There's a round grill and metal mesh combo out there which fits nicely inside here. The mesh disperses heat very well under the pots, so allows for more even cooking. You could obviously grill food with it, or use the grill inside one of the pots to steam food. I do not unerstand bringing a kettle along, you can boil water just fine in the pots, by using the pan as a lid. If pouring is the issue then use the spatula on the tip where you want water to trickle down from - used in labs and works flawlessly. Lastly, aluminum can be toxic by leeching onto food, so go with anodized or the Duossal version which has stainless steel inside. Food safe cookware is not very common in the camping world, unfortunately... Stay safe out there
I have not noticed a decrease in production quality. THANKS for a well-conceived and thorough look at your cooking/dining equipment and at your meal. You even added a 'garnish!' Good on you!
I really enjoy your laid back attitude and style of presenting yourvideos...very "calming". Keep it up! I look forward to more of your videos. I'm a fan from Cincinnati, Ohio in the states. You've helped me maintain my sanity during all of this current crap going on. Thank you!!!
Thanks for showing us the camping equipment my friend as I can't wait until 2024 for my wild solo camping experience again as I not been able to do anything for a few years because of work travelling a lot driving around the UK but great full of you showing us around 😊Thanks
That's why I'll always favor a gas canister stove - flame is much more controllable and you can get the right amount of heat while cooking with a simple turn of the valve.
A wonderful little cookset by Trangia. Something that may come in handy in the regular kitchen, if we are going to be faced with rolling power cuts in the UK this winter.
Hello Andy, I responded to you on that video you did cooking on a rock! It was okay but not to realistic. Kinda difficult to carry a piece of slate with you. Rock cooking works very well for almost everything except eggs! Now, this one I can relate to. I have been camping for over 30 years and only had Trangia stoves. I did a world motorcycle tour for about 5 years and then bits and pieces here and there. Probably cooked somewhere around 4000 meals total. I still remember my Trangia being new and shiny like yours is......but guess what: It still works like the first day I bought it! Great video and thank you for bringing back memories of when we could travel the world freely! Keep on camping and outdoor cooking! Cheers
just a small tip, if you wait for the burner ring to warm up and light the jets you reduce the sut on the bottom of pans. I did here if you add a little water to the fuel this reduces sut as well not had as much look with that one thou. Nice vid, made me hungery
Great video thanks Andy! I keep a little bit of washing up liquid with my Trangia to wipe on the under side of the pots before cooking on them. That way the soot comes off much easier and does not go all over the bag :)
You're a great cook, I can tell. I'm very sure you are comfortable around the kitchen. I'm one who loves to cook, and the spices you use or the bread you bake I can taste it. When people know their spices right down to the smell you can almost taste it. The cook kit was pretty good too. Cheers and Blessings.
recently purchased the 27 kit, wife thinks it's not capable to cook anything on it, she's gonna be surprised when we go camping with some of the grand children (and their parents) in a few weeks time, thanks for the vid (grand kids and parents can sort out their own cooking)
From experience - add some salt & pepper sachets, tea bags, coffee sachets, oxo cube and a little bottle of cooking oil. Things easily forgotten with a grab n go cookset.
Beautiful cooking set. Love it. Had the bigger 25 for over 30 years. The 27 for a few months. The old one has no lock between pot position and windscreen. The new 25 does. Sturdy but less convenient to use in mine opinion. I am used to taking off the windshield with the pot grabber. With kettle or pan in it at the same time. Then it is much easier to light the burner with a firesteel or to put it out with the simmer ring. It is also easier to add fuel. Advise. It is aluminum. I often see in demonstration videos of the 25 or 27 pans set up without water or fat first. There will be a hole in the bottom before you know it. Next advice. I have a special rack that fits in the pan support. You can also put a small cup on that. Sometimes I use it as a protection for the pans on the grass. It is better (also against the rattling of the pans) to take a piece of carbon feld with you. To prevent fire hazard under the burner but also to pick up hot things. Another advice. If you have the money for it. There is a hardcase for 25. Everything fits neatly in there. I use it during cooking to stove rice or pasta (saves ethanol) or keep sauces warm. As a pot cozy. Latest advice. Never let the burner burn out. The performance then deteriorates. It can be washed with water, dish soap and a toothbrush. In winter when the fuel is cold I put a jam jar lid with a small piece of carbon feld underneath. Lighting ethanol. Wait a minute. Then light the burner. Start immediately and very brightly. The winter set of Triangia is not necessary. Happy cooking!
Trangia make a 2.5 lte billy pot with lid that the 27 fits in ,ideal if you have guests.I think you are definitely getting the hang of cooking in the woods .
Ur videos calm me anxiety and gives me hope I don’t know why. I need to to keep making videos. Some more survival Bushcraft would be great. Shelter building. Fires. Survival traps etc.
When I am having a bad day, your videos make me feel like it is all going to be ok. Please do not stop. Appreciate all you do.

I never looked at food that way before, especially the trust part when sharing the same food. That is so true, I like that.
Maybe you could start an online Japanese cooking group?
How anyone can give this film a thumbs down beggars belief. Thank you for taking the time to make it 👍🏻

Every chance I get, sunshine, rain and snow, I cook outside in the garden over an open flame. You just can't beat it.

moving out soon to live in the forest for several months, thank you so much for making these vids
I have travelled EXTENSIVELY with one of these, so I think I can add a few bits of advice, but btw Andy
Walkaboutnutty has a video on his personal add-ons and mods to the Trangia, I recommend it.
(or get a Soto one which you can use as a lid as well)
Add a pot cozy, like the Soto Navigator, to keep things warm while rehidrating to save on fuel.
(The alocs one you can adjust without removing the pot)
There's a round grill and metal mesh combo out there which fits nicely inside here.
Stay safe out there
Hello Andy I wanted to tell you that that steak was cooked to perfection perfect. That's exactly the way I do it here up in Colorado.
Andy, can't wait to share photos of my bush build I recently started after watching your videos. You inspired me to really do it!
Wonderful* Loved how you covered everything including the fiddly simmer ring & cleaning up after. Love all your posts :-)
Fill it right to the top line mate also fill it up and store it full, Iv had one years and never had any issues, it's a great big of kit
Thanks Jack, glad the videos are helping during these times! :)
Thanks for showing us the camping equipment my friend as I can't wait until 2024 for my wild solo camping experience again as I not been able to do anything for a few years because of work travelling a lot driving around the UK but great full of you showing us around 😊Thanks
Kent is not called the garden of England for nothing. I've been there once and I loved it.
Crumbled birch bark for scrubbing, then some sphagnum moss makes a great dishwashing sponge
Love your videos Kent...just the thing to calm n relax us all.
His name is actually Andy. He lives in the county of Kent in southeast England. 😉
Thanks Susan.. its cool.. Kent has pretty much become a nickname at this point haha, maybe I should change my name :p
Oosh! My mouth was watering watching that. Great piece of kit! Thank you for the video!
Cheers
I used a Trangia for years, they're great!
just a small tip, if you wait for the burner ring to warm up and light the jets you reduce the sut on the bottom of pans.
I did here if you add a little water to the fuel this reduces sut as well not had as much look with that one thou.
Nice vid, made me hungery
Love the videos buddy, helps me unwind at the end of the day. Thanks for providing the entertainment, much appreciated. Keep safe mate.
Relaxing escapism and a real craftsman with the axe
Thanks Andy, your videos are always up to scratch 👍 stay safe and keep them coming🏴⛺
Great video thanks Andy! I keep a little bit of washing up liquid with my Trangia to wipe on the under side of the pots before cooking on them. That way the soot comes off much easier and does not go all over the bag :)
My Mom and I love your channel. We are praying for you and sending you a hug. Going to raid the fridge now!
Thanks Luke.. hope theres some tasty treats in the fridge :p
Looks delicious Andy. I can't wait to watch you build your new shelter. Good luck!
This was lovely. This is such a lively, peaceful design.
Cannot wait for your shelter build, Andy.
Keep it going and stay safe my friend.
Kind regards
Keith
recently purchased the 27 kit, wife thinks it's not capable to cook anything on it, she's gonna be surprised when we go camping with some of the grand children (and their parents) in a few weeks time, thanks for the vid (grand kids and parents can sort out their own cooking)
Excellent video...thanks for keeping going in these difficult days. Really appreciate your work. Stay safe.
Another great vid Andy . thanks for all you've done during these difficult times . 👍
Trangia explained in a very practical way.will buy one now.thanks
Got the patch and sticker yesterday mate. Thanks v much; just the job. Stay safe Andy and hope you manage the bannock challenge!
Trangia make a 2.5 lte billy pot with lid that the 27 fits in ,ideal if you have guests.I think you are definitely getting the hang of cooking in the woods .
thanks Andy,be safe take care i have one also little bulky but great set-up
10/10
bought one of these today, and this video has got me excited for the next trip's meal.
Oh will be great to see the woodland shelter ,Do love to see an upload from Kent Survival,Stay safe mate.
Great vid as usual! If you cut an inch or so off the end off the pot gripper handle it fits nicely in the teapot.
Ur videos calm me anxiety and gives me hope I don’t know why. I need to to keep making videos. Some more survival Bushcraft would be great. Shelter building. Fires. Survival traps etc.
the Trangia gas burner is marvelous for this
