    I miss my time at sea - like you, the rougher the better! Mind you it was a long time ago - 2006. I now miss my visits to the crews onboard when in port. That said, I am busier now than ever... How did I fit work in? I don't fancy the chilli chocolate? Vegetarian, gluten free and healthy my foot! Look at the beef on the chopping board? :-) Keep the videos coming....     morakniv spoted at 40:47, very nice I have the same one but left it at my grandparrent's 400 miles away, postage would cost more than a replacement so I haven't mentioned it. you cannot get a better knife for 15USD. Stainless steel too!!

    What I'm impressed with is how smoothly you guys handle those massive waves ship control. I notice your not bow breaking a ton of waves. No offense to other Captain but is that due to training?

      The waves you see in this video are not very big. Where we work the seas regularly reach to well over 20 meters so our ships are built to handle these.
      I’ve been in this job for 30 years so have developed ways of handling the big ones. You’ll see them in our storm videos.

      The one we were close to was registered in Hull with mostly British crew. I think the rest were Dutch & French. The one you see heading towards us was also from Hull.

      @@Bigwavemaster1 No. Some? More like a ship-full of characters, each seaman w/his own unique attributes. Sometimes close to a comedy troupe, but always dedicated & serious about the job at hand, even if joking whilst performing it. Heavy teamwork accomplished w/a light heart. One of the many reasons those of us w/little to no maritime knowledge or skills have learned so much just viewing & keep coming back to see what you're all doing from day to day.

      When a window is smashed we turn the ship before the wind then crew go outside and put steel shutters up and seal them with expanding foam.
      Most of the crew are qualified to go in the DC. Only the skipper, chief engineer and chief mate are not qualified.
      The food is too good. I eat too much.

    Anyone knows how big the waves and wind were at 27:00 when yacht visited them?

      I’d say the were 4-5 meters significant. The wind would have been about 25 knots.

      Fishing vessels are allowed to tow all along the pipelines and as close as 500 meters to the platforms.

      @@carolynrose753 You can imagine the uproar among the fishing community when the oil industry first came to the North Sea? The 500 Meter Zone is a concession between the two parties. Pipe lines are generally buried these days.
      I think the little bird carried on his merry way.

    Sir, I’m not trying to be funny, but why is most of the crew white? Isn’t that unusual? I thought most seamen are from the Philippines.

      They probably are deep sea where they can live on board a ship for a couple of years without spending a penny. They then retire.
