I’m 62 and vegan for 7 years. I follow the diet of Dr. Doug Graham, the 80/10/10 diet. He advocates 80% raw fruits and veggies for carbohydrates 10% nuts and seeds for fats, and 10% beans, legumes, grains, for protein. A diet high in raw food will help you to lose weight and not not gain weight. I recommend you stay on that diet and just incorporate some protein sources.

My challenge has been that when I go back to eat my regular meal, I gain back the weight, but with this method, it is going to be sustainable. I need to lose about 40 pounds at about 2 pounds per week. I have noticed that with each passing decade, metabolism slows down. I read that metabolism slows way down after age 60, making it very difficult to lose weight after that age. When I first started my vegan journey, I ate a lot of meat substitutes like tempeh, seitan, soy burgers, etc. Later I started using rice, beans, pasta, etc. But those work better for men transitioning to veganism/WFPB because men need dense calories to build muscle. Starches cause women to gain weight. So I cut back on starches and went high raw. During the week I have toast with jam and a piece of fruit. I brew chicory in a French press instead of coffee to avoid caffeine. I have a big banana smoothie with plant milk and dates (or other dried fruit like dried pineapple chunks or raisins or cranberries) for lunch. That is my main calorie-dense meal of the day. A scoop of protein powder can be added to the smoothie. For dinner I have a small fruit or vegetable salad. Snack of nuts or seeds. Around 7pm I have miso broth in order to have a fermented food. After that I do intermittent fasting until next day 7am. If I want something after 7pm, I just drink unsweetened herbal tea until bedtime. The warm miso broth and the warm tea help curb the. appetite. On the weekends, I add more protein with bean salads or hummus dip or veggie burger. I also juice on the weekends only because I don’t have time to take down and clean a juicer every day. By following this plan, I am never hungry and never feel deprived. @@Parentingwiththefutureinmind it didn't take but one day for me to figure this out because I did a 4mile jog on concrete and my hips,knees were screaming out at me.after that day I make an effort to walk instead but mostly on grass when it's dry. Better shock absorber for the joint and body than concrete.start with walking on grass

I changed my diet at the beginning of the year. I cut out all red meat, chicken, dairy products, fried/ processed food, & ate only fresh vegetables, fruits/grains, & drink alkaline water. I weighed 188lbs on January 1st, today is February 3rd & I weigh 155lbs. I look & feel amazing & refreshed!!!

I cut out sweets and drank lots of water for a week and lost 20 pounds. Got 10 more pounds to go.

Thanks for asking. I had occasional headaches coupled with dizziness as I ran around with my kids. I wanted to do it for a month, but because of those concerns, I stopped at 2 weeks. Once again, thanks for asking. Much love 💕 ❤️
