Not medical advise from myself nor am I discounting anything the good doctor is saying but I personally know someone went on a strict ' fruit cleanse' to deal with a health issue for 30 days. They did grapes, bananas, apples and lots of watermelon. By the end of the time they lost about 15lbs, had skin looked like a newborn baby and to this day the health issue is gone. That was about 3 yrs ago.

Not that long ago, breakfast was the most important meal of the day. Now you better skip it.
Not that long ago, fat was the worse thing to eat and sugar wasn't that bad, now it's quite the opposite.
Not that long ago, cereals where the foundation of the pyramid, now cereals are real bad.
Not that long ago, milk was very healhty, not anymore.
Not that long ago, eggs were a no-no, too much cholesterol. Now are among the healthiest things you can eat.
Not that long ago, fruit was very healthy, now turns out fruit is unhealthy.

I´m a diabetic type 1 for 24 years, since I was 12 yeas old. The last 3 years I´m on a journey trying to improve my health and possibly even get rid of the disease, even though I´m aware that the official narrative is that my pancreas will never produce insulin again. 2 years ago I decided to eat only fruits, including avocados which I love. The first 3 months were awesome. I had a lot of energy, I even lifted weights. I was not hungry all the time, but I have to admit that the avocados were helping in that regard! My insulin intake was dramatically reduced and there were a few times that I ate without even having to shoot insulin, which had never happened to me since I was diagnosed. I did not gain weight, quite the contrary I lost a lot of weight. I went from 70 kg to 51 kg. My height is 1.75.
In fact I was losing so much weight that I stopped lifting on the 4th month and eventually I was finding it hard to even carry the grocery. I had lost a lot of fat but also a lot of muscle. And that was the reason I stopped the fruit diet. I just needed to gain weight and I needed a warm meal during winter. I recently started vegetarian keto, eating veggies, eggs and cheese and so far I have similar blood sugar levels as when I was eating only fruits. But the difference is that on keto my blood sugar spikes much less.
So,from my experience, fruits are not like soda. Fruits do not promote fat storage, at least they didn´t for me. Plus, my blood glucose was on good levels. The only problem for me with the fruitarian lifestyle is that it´s not sustainable long term. I´ll see how it will go with keto.

Im now 65, At one point in my early 50's, I accidentally became a fruitarian for an entire summer. I had no intention to do so when i started eating just fruit. There was an abundance of fabulous delicious fruits of many kinds in the stores and i just naturally gravitated to it. Cantalopes, watermelon, oranges, grapefruits, strawberrries, peaches, plums, pears, figs, pineapple, mangos, kiwi, bananas, grapes, starfruit raspberries,,,oh my ..the variety was so enticing. There were other types too.
I didnt notice any bad feelings or mood changes, But I did eat very often.
By the end of summer, I had gained 15 pounds. I was astonished that i had gained so much weight eating "healthy fruit "
I had not thought this at the time,.but i was getting summer fat in prep for winter starvation...just like our ancestors did naturally.
Our modern Winter food supply is now stable, and we do not need to do this !
i found that it was especially difficult trying to loose that fruit weight.
I still love fruit..but im lucky that in the Keto diet, i can still enjoy my personal favorite fruits..raspberries and strawberries. The other kinds are " treats" now and I have a piece maybe once a month. Id rather have one perfect sun-ripened Peach than almost anything else in the world to eat.
Thank you for making the body's mechanisms easy to understand.

My weight today says 76Kg. I have added D-vitamin, small amounts of electric trace minerals and sparingly raw apple vinegar cider every day. Since then I have been following Dr Ekberg and trying to control sugar and carb intake and have been largely successful (except for Christmas... ouch). My A1c was down to 6.2 and my sugar was consistently around 115. What I have found out though is that as my sugar approaches 100 I start to get sick. My doctor doesn't seem to have an explanation for it but I have to stay around 110 in order to not feel sick, shaky and sweating. It can take a *long* time to get down to healthier normal blood sugar levels without feeling sick. Keep trying gently to stay lower carb and as your body heals and adjusts it may come around. It does not happen in a few short months of only a year and a half when you may well have been diabetic for a decade or more before diagnosis. You are doing great!

Processed sugar is not the same as whole food sugar, maybe molecularly, but the effect of absorption makes a very significant difference. It's the little things. Vegan, keto, fruigivore... to each his or her own. Live long and prosper.

Oh, this was an excellent presentation, Dr. E! If only I had known this info back in 2010 it would have saved me over ten years of sickness, obesity and misery. I lost 108 lbs. in just over a year in 2009, but then I allowed a frugivore to convince me that I should be eating only fruit until dinner time, then raw veggies for that meal. I was quite physically fit by that time, and did pretty well with that plan for awhile, I forget how long, but probably six months at least, then I started feeling hungrier and hungrier, had the jitters a lot and just started eating anything and everything to assuage this hunger, somehow not realizing that it was the fruit (and later processed sugar and other food) that was the cause of all my problems. I lost 50 lbs. in 2015, but the same thing happened, as I was still eating too much fruit though I had cut out all processed foods. Same cycle, hungrier and hungrier, back to eating whatever because I was so starved and discouraged.
By last June I weighed just under 300 when my brother sent me a great book that explained how I should be eating FAT, something I had always cut way back on when losing weight before. This fat from meats, eggs, full fat yogurt, avocados and salmon was so satiating I was able to eat just two meals a day within a few days, and only one sometimes. Within two weeks I was able to do a weekend fast, which I did most weekends for the next six months. Since Dec. 12 I haven't done any extended fasts, just one or two meals per day, no snacks, and I am down 93 lbs. in only 8 months! Now that I have the correct info, and this way of eating is so tasty and satisfying (NO jitters, hooray!), I believe I'll never be obese and sick like that again. Fifty lbs. to go to my ideal weight, but I have no doubt I'll get there! And, I've gone from being completely sedentary, just moving from my sofa to my computer to my bed, to averaging over 10,000 steps per day since last fall. Everything you said in this video has been my experience, and 100% correct!

I did it as an experiment. Fruitarian for February in 2018. Lost 26.5 lbs in 28 days. Seemed great on the scale. But my strength took a huge dive! My absolute strength (weights) tanked: bench press reduced from 250# to 185# (3 rep max). What was surprising was the loss in relative strength (bodyweight): Pull-ups reduced from 21 reps to 13. I thought that my pull-ups would not change since I lost so much weight. But that was not the case. Even worse, it took about 5 months to regain the strength I lost in 1 month. It was a good experiment, but won’t do that again.

Point being, the stuff in the stores that was picked early and "ripened" on its way to the store, won't have the minerals and whatever else, that the naturally-ripened fruit would have.

My doctors are dumb as doornails when it comes to diet but to be fair to them they've never been taught officially so probably don't want to advise on something they don't fully know the facts about plus the vast majority of information out there is wrong. Only issue is that if this was fixed on a mass scale, sales of sugar foods would plummet and so would profits. What I'm seeing now is fizzy drink companies changing sugar and replacing it with other things which I think we will find out in 10-20 years that this is worse. Its a tough world.

At 27:55 - Yep! That's me! Wanting to reverse my insulin resistance I did Keto and intermittent fasting for about 10 months (went from BMI 40 to 23) I adopted the LCHF lifestyle and developed a much more active lifestyle! (SUCCESS! Thanks Dr. Ekberg!!) Then this past holiday I figured that, after 2 years I've now got this "under control", so I allowed my self to "pig out", not only for a day or two, like I have been able to do in the past, but for the the whole holiday period! After 2 weeks I was always tired, hungry and gained a lot of weight! I thought it would be easy to just go back to my LCHF lifestyle and I would soon be back on track after the New Year! I WAS WRONG! Like an alcoholic I now struggled sticking to low carb, the cravings for carbs was intense, I was always hungry and 3 weeks later I was at BMI 30!! To get back on track I've now done 5 days strict Keto (OMAD) followed by a 48hr fast. Cravings are finally gone, my energy is back! I'm confident that I'm now finally back on track! It sure wasn't as easy as when I did this the first time!! I'm gonna stick to this until I'm back at BMI 23. Lesson learned! I'm not ever gonna allow myself to do that again!! LCHF is for me!

My friends and I found some big, juicy, absolutely delicious Granny Smith apples at a market and bought a dozen, for snacking. Soon afterwards, we started up the Stromboli with our guide. We were supposed to stop halfway for dinner, but it ended up being a forced march to the top because we started a little late in the day and we were up against night fall (we were to camp on top - another story). The guide did not allow us to stop to eat. We got quite hungry so we ate our apples, until they were all gone. It took care of our thirst because the apples were so juicy, but it felt like someone was on the inside trying to turn our stomachs inside out. I never experienced hunger pangs like that in my entire life. Since then, I've never again eaten apples on an empty stomach.

Long term vegan here. I totally agree. Non starchy vegetables can be eaten in large amounts. 1-2 pieces of fruit should be enough for the day. Combining amino acids in the course of the day - from pulses/legumes and (pseudo)cereals, nuts and seeds - is important to get the right amount of all essential amino acids. Sweets and highly processed foods should be avoided as much as possible. And: Don‘t forget vitamin B12, vitamin D3, long chain fatty acids DHA/EPA.

In the mornings, I typically have oats, coffee, and bread. Lunch, about 3 to 4 servings of fruit. I'm finding that 4 may be too much. Dinner, salad or a regular meal, sometimes immediately followed by nuts or dark chocolate desert. Usually 70
% or darker. Any % less is becoming too sweet. I stopped much of the snacking between meals (it's usually about 11 hours between dinner and breakfast of no eating), the sodas, fast foods, and packed foods. A couple of meals include meat. I think we overload on the proteins. Just enough meat to maintain nutrition levels. I don't really drink much fruit juices. I drink herbal teas. Take various herb supplements. During the day I drink waters with added green and fruit powders, electrolytes, and coconut water. Coconut water is amazing with the energy boost. Usually plain water with the fruit. I've read that aloe juice can lower blood sugar and thinking that it might could temper blood sugar levels while eating fruit. With vegetables, I focus more on the hydrating ones like cucumbers, tomatoes, and celery. I can tell you that before I started on my health trend, my nerves were shot, I was congested all the time and many little health quirks have cleared up. I'm a long from where I want to be. It certainly is a journey. I eat to live, not live to eat. I have things to do. Hobbies as well. It was said, consider our closest relatives, the apes. How do they eat? Might give us an insight.

So, when I eat my organic oranges in the morning (with the rinds) it's very very similar to drinking Coca-Cola?
A Japanese study found that citrus fruit reduces the risk of developing certain cancers. Would Coca-Cola also reduce the risk of developing certain cancers? Can I substitute Coca-Cola for my oranges and expect the same health benefits?

First, let me say I appreciate your advice and consider it helpful … like the mark twain quote is applicable. For me, when it comes to my residual love handles and fatty liver, keto alone did not do it … and I started strictly 2 years ago 60 pounds over weight). Carnivore alone did not do it, started 1 year ago (20 pounds over weight). Mind you I have been on the same workout for a few years (biking, yoga) When I made my carbs a day only fruit (apples, blueberries), along with Kefir, in the summer of 2022 I started noticing amazing energy for workout and sleep and mental clarity. I also switched to one table spoon of honey in my coffee in the morning. I keep my two meals a day (10am to 6). I am 49 and had a high liver panel even in my 20's. My recent bloodwork and liver panel has never been as good in my life as it is today. In fact, my last wellness checkup in the fall showed the best liver panel I have ever had as an adult. My doctor is floored. In fact, I was born with a heart problem I had fixed and never got better than 130/90 on Losartan. Now, my blood pressure is 121/78. My doctor told me that it would take eating a 100 grams of fructose a day to hurt my liver and an apple only has 6-8 grams. A month ago I eliminated all seed oils from my diet and I am now noticing muscle growth I never had before. My family are astounded! I look and feel better than I did in my 20s. I get what your saying but CarnivoreMD and Dr. Anthony Chaffee are on to something. Strangely enough my arthritis has disappeared. Fruit over plants helped me and did not increase my craving. Chances are if you are always hungry you are intaking seed oils and processed foods that you think are keto friendly. My belief in God, I do believe he gave us some fruit and plants to eat in moderation … just not with a sedentary lifestyle.

Excellent presentation, just want to add that no fruit we currently eat is really natural. Most fruit has been bred to produce larger and a sweeter varieties. Primitive pre-cultured fruits were much less sweet, often tart, so would have contained a higher percentage of fat and protein. The other issue of fructose is it has been shown to drive CAD.

Understanding about nutrition is not just simple as "fruit is bad", "red meat is bad" or "vegan is good". It is really about understanding your body and, also important, nutrition research!
I like the way you pointed out fallacies in statement or in research methods so that we can really understand why a research comes to a conclusion and whether or not we can trust that conclusion. There is so much information and we have to know which one is trustable and which one is not.

    - Only one meal in the entire day
    - Eat fruits and veggies that are cultivated within 100 KM radius. So, no imported fruits.
    - Eat within 4 hours after harvesting.
    - Eat in the afternoon when the sun is at its peak. Our digestive fire (Agni) is poportional to sun.
    - Eat uncooked raw food where heat is not involved.
    - Eat only with Peace of mind. Don't eat when you are emotionally upset.

Raw vegetables and fruit don't cause a fatty liver on the contrary it helps detox the liver. You probably had clogged gallbladder and liver from before and the liver got aggravated with symptoms from detox and the doctor caught it. A clogged gallbladder can also have a clogged liver. You should work on detoxing the liver and gallbladder. For liver you can take Sylimarin and Alpha Lipoic Acid at every meal. For both liver and gallbladder you should consider the Pulverexx Protocol. I had done the fruit diet for a while and noticed that my right liver area had some pressure. This was do to the body trying to detox the gallbladder but had a blockage there. Same goes with liver. You have to break apart the liver stones and gallstones. Fruit won't do it unless you eat a ton of apples everyday for months.
