I've been waiting for your videos on this one! The $285.00 price tag makes this an exceptional *value* compared to practically any other e-ink note-taking device on the market today. Am really interested in this one as my portable option. I'd really like to have one A4 sized device for work and research at the office and home, and something smaller like this as an "everyday carry" type of thing that I would take with me *everywhere* I go for general notes and personal journaling purposes. Just waiting to see deep comparisons between the Boox Tab X and the eventual A4X2 Supernote when that releases to make a final decision on the large-format device I want. Depending on how well the Mobiscribe Wave gets reviewed, I may end up picking one up as my portable of choice, if only because the price for what you get makes it the best bang-for-buck value note-taker out there! I mean, heck, just from what little I've seen of it so far, it *appears* to totally blow away the Kindle Scribe as a note-taker, and is nearly $100 cheaper to boot! Being water-proof is just adding insult to injury at that point, haha. :P
Very exciting! Finally, a Note-taking eReader you can use 'in the field' and not worry about it getting wet! For me, it's "why did they take so long? That you have already proved, from the last version, that it has a very good writing experience is all I need to know to make this my first eReader! And a plastic screen helps with the writting experience, and no doubt less likely to break when out 'in the field'. I'll wait till I get your review on the colour version you mentioned, but if it impedes on the writting experience (what it's ALL about for me), I'll be perfectly happy with this B&W one... Cheers!
Hi Voja. Really cool and interesting device. Looking forward to the deep review. As an owner of reMarkable 2, I slightly disagree with statement that only plastic surface can budge and make writing more natural. rM 2 has it too. However, the screen itself doesn't budge but the whole device does it. And that is the thing which make writing on it so nice. So it isn't just about surface but overall design.
It’s funny, you wouldn’t think one inch would make that much of a difference, but having used both sizes in other e-note devices, 6.8 feels cramped, and 7.8 is just right for me.
Well I love my orgin, its used daily for work so portable, it has issues like all devices but the pros for me outweigh the cons. This wave looks good though and seems very similar to the orgin, look forward to the in depth review. Stay safe.
Been looking at this and the bigme s6 for a while. They both look so nice but I'm still torn since I love how this comes in non-color but the s6 has an SD card.
I'd be curious if the Bigme had better latency, especially with keyboards. I connected one to the Wave and honestly don't know why they added that feature considering the latency.
Hello! I wanted to ask if you are able to annotate books on this device? The writing capability looks wonderful on this device :) I have seen the Kobo Libra Colour a lot recently and I wonder if this device could offer a similar experience.
Thanks for the review! I saw the device a few weeks ago at a Fortress in Hong Kong, but there was no pen to try. I wonder: Did you check parallax? I.e. how noticeable is the distance between the tip to the pen and the ink? For comparison, I tested a 13.3" mooInk Pro 2 today, and parallax was unfortunately very noticeable. I assume all devices with a front light suffer from this issue. Later I passed by a Samsung store and tested writing on a Z Fold4. That felt nice, and parallax was practically zero.
As best I can tell from my research, this is the only e-ink tablet that can search your handwriting (vs converted handwriting). I just wish it were bigger. I'd like a normal notepad size. If they had that, it would be a slam dunk for me.
Got one a short while ago. At this point it doesn’t have the Google Play Store, so waiting on the firmware update that makes it available. Hopefully soon
@@revtup it's good. Got it more for the note taking. I like to carry a small notetaker with me to jot things down and doodles and it works well for that. That was what I used the Origin for, more than reading. But it can handle it, in my opinion. Battery life seems to be good, not outstanding but haven't done any long term reading on it.The specs on the battery has it only a bit bigger than the Origin.
No , you don’t. The company may be in US, but they also have stock in Germany. They send my the Origin from there (lovely device btw, extremely underrated).
Thanks for the replies 😊 In case anybody else is curious: I asked customer support and apparently they only ship the origin from Germany at the moment, the wave is shipped from the US
Great 1st review of the lovely Wave. Keep up the great work :)

Thank you as always. I’m looking forward to your full review

Anxious for full review. Really looking for a reader on which I can scribble notes as I read.
thats a great unboxing video! when are you releasing a indepth review?
Thanks for the great work!
Thanks! It's coming out tomorrow :)
Thanks for the interesting video
The unit looks like a nice portable travel unit to throw in a bag and travel with. First impressions look good

Definitely like the size. The Origin is maybe a bit small for a notebook and sometimes a 10” eink is too big

Voja, is there any chance you’ll be reviewing the wave color? Very curious how that one turned out.
Been looking at this and the bigme s6 for a while. They both look so nice but I'm still torn since I love how this comes in non-color but the s6 has an SD card.
Perhaps you can use a USB Flashdrive via the USB-C port instead of SD Card?
I'd be curious if the Bigme had better latency, especially with keyboards. I connected one to the Wave and honestly don't know why they added that feature considering the latency.
@@rogibaer I rather not. I don't like having a USB just sticking out like that making it so easy to bend.
Wow, evolution, not (unwanted) revolution, looking forward for deep dive... while still happy with origin :)
Can you explain what I have to do to convert from the hand written text to the printed text??? 🙏

Those sounds at 2:05 are really satisfying
Does the stylus attach to the side with magnets or do you get to worry about losing it?
Well, the worry aspect will be on an individual's basis, but no, it doesn't have a magnet.
Get a cover for it because they have the holders for pens.

Boox does handwriting search and several other as well.
Does it really transcribe from handwriting to typed text?
Maybe I will buy a mobiscribe wave color :)
If I didn't already have a BOOX note air 2 then this would probably be the writing device I would get

Any updates on the Google Play store?
Wacom pen nibs or something else (unfortunately)?
I’m mostly concerned about battery life.
I have one. Charging takes longer than expected, but battery life really hasn't been a huge bother.
Do you have to pay import taxes in the EU?
Yes, as it is shipping from US.
No , you don’t. The company may be in US, but they also have stock in Germany. They send my the Origin from there (lovely device btw, extremely underrated).
Cool tip, mine was sent from US, although I am in Norway, so not in EU, so maybe that's why.

Huh? Could you try saying it in a way that others can understanding as well what you mean?
