Warning about Readwise: since I received a "popular articles" selection email that included pdfs, I asked them about how private my saved documents are, and turns out readwise staff have acces and can read your saved content, including any personal documents you upload.
I am so happy for this review. Ive been looking for something like this. Phones give me migraines but I love to read and listen to audio books. I appreciate your review!
Even though it doesn't have a headphone jack, it does have USBC with the ability to plug in a USB-C to 3.5mm or just aa USBC headphone directly into the port. Plus, you have a MicroSD slot where you can add either 1 to 1.5TB of more additional storage over the 128GB (I've used this feature). The USBC also gives you the ability to charge using a battery pack, or to use an external flash drive with a USBC to USBA adapter/dongle, or an external SSD with mass storage, over 8TB. So you have a lot of ways to read/write tons of content with this little pocket device, lots of ways to get input and output, and you can output the video signal through the USBC to a second color monitor, if the internal display doesn't suffice. There really isn't much the device can't do. It's just how do you want to use it. And that's one of the great things with it. It gives you the choices to make them, instead of telling you what you can't do, like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, etc's walled gardens. This lets you enjoy all CBR, CBZ, epub, mobi, pdf, mkv, mp4, avi, mp3, aac all with this little device. So again choices are unlimited, but you can structure them for exactly how you need to use them for your use case, which I think is key to success.
Thanks for the thoughtful review. I've been looking into the slightly larger Boox devices that are compatible with a stylus for note taking. I wasn't sure what niche a device as small as the Palma would fill, but this gives me a better idea.
these are the exact reasons why I'm thinking of getting a palma for christmas. I've tried the screentime apps, I've tried deleting social media off my phone. it has just…not worked. I eventually end up redownloading the apps, or disabling the screentime apps. and I feel like I SHOULD be able to exercise willpower but I can't. and rather than feel bad about that, I think I should just try something that meets me in the middle. I hope and think the boox palma might be just that
I just finished the book “Stolen Focus” by Johann Hari and can’t recommend it highly enough. He explains why we can’t exercise the willpower… over the phones. I am horrified after reading the book but am totally considering a dummy phone and a Palma. And a small camera. I already have a Kindle.
Matte Screen protecters take it to the next level, super good / low cost option if you're looking to reduce or be more intentional with your phone usage. It's also easy to revert back to normal if you don't vibe with it
I understand what you meant , but technology is not only based off a motherboard or electricity. You say that something is not technology if it is fully manual, but this is not true. I think you need to better define what "technology" means. The invention of bronze was a technology advancement.
So well-spoken. Who else would totally listen to Ryder if he made guided meditations?
I would!
For a review, this is easily one of your most generally insightful videos you’ve posted. Well done!

I guess I'll stay in the ‘On the road it's paperback and notebook’ team 🤓
This is a great video, I'm thinking about getting one and with the palma 2 coming out, hope this drops to 200
With a tiny foldable bluetooth keyboard, maybe the input experience might improve.
love this series!

Looks great, but realistically, to be able to freely call and message family/friends, it needs cell coverage.
@michaelevangelidis I agree. I would be great to have a phone replacement.

It has everything I'm looking for in an e-ink device, wish they have a 7.8 screen size.
Onyx has dozens of sizes .
I can’t believe they did not release a SIM version of palma.
You’re such a smart young man.
Thanks for this review, very helpful for me. It would have been nice to see what the BuJo App looks like on this device 😇
Great job marketing this product, but unfortunately I’ll wait for its next improved model
I just changed my phone dysplay to black and white. Not the same, but it is something.

This is something to keep in mind. Good review.
Can you delete the browser and the App Store and import apps via a computer?

Great content, keep it coming
What about the Palma 2 that just released?

can you please show us more products than you close-in face?
The scale system needs work. I listened to the information and consistently was surprised at the rating; that should not happen.
