    The blue hydrant you were trying to pump is a facet,if you would have flipped the handle all the way up you would have found the water! No pumping needed LOL!

      She was supposedly driving one of the very blue hydrants called Dodge RAM, or something like that to the New York right now. But this video, well, must be another can video...=D Oh, it is the canned video from April.

      Oh yes all the way up tuns on the valve at the bottom, with the valve being inbeded in a 10 or12 inch bottom hole with gravel around the valve at the bottom of the hole,the valve comes in a kit ,1 a bag of gravel,2 a valve,3 a push rod, 4 the lockable up and down handle, 5 a drain snorkel, it a air release, it lets the water drain back into the ground,thus, into the gravel, keeps it from freezing 🥶 in the winter, ok 👍 BigAl.

    yes and give the pump a minute to put out water, it is a frost proof faucet, so it is deep in ground where water starts.

    What an awesome accidental find, both of those cabins were a treat to see. And yea' we do kinda' feel like we're there with you sometimes. Really like it when you give us a look around you , and the beautiful shots of the skyline. Julie Andrews would sing ' The Hills Are Alive With The Smell Of Sagebrush ' if she was there. The second cabin was so nice ,that Slim Pickins himself, would be right proud to to sit for a spell there ,right before he had to go back into town to get a sh☆♤tload of dimes for the tollbooth. Thanx for the wonderful visuals , those rock formed peaks are breathtaking, what a land ! Bob.G

    I'll bet ranchers use the site when they round up their cattle from the range land. Hence the corral and some modern plumbing. The cabin is probably the cook shack. The hook on the ceiling might be to hang a lantern if you don't want to mess with the gas lights.

    • @RaoulThomas007
      @RaoulThomas007 4 роки тому +5

      Linus Poindexter I agree. The coral is used as a temporary detention for cattle or horses. That ceiling was pine. Someone did a really nice job on that! You can tell by the water handles that they are serious ranchers!

    Sarah if you would of lifted the blue handle all the way up you would’ve got water ,if there was water in the system, that blue valve is a freeze 🥶 prof water valve, it’s down in the ground, in gravel, has a push rod, down in the pipe, pulls up to turn on the valve and push down to turn off the water, it keeps the water out of the pipe and valve above ground ok, that blue handle usually has a place to lock it, anyway Sarah,love you ,and keep up the cornavisting Desert camps nice , thanks BigAl California.

    I believe that's a ranch line camp & not a homestead. A line camp is used occasionally by larger ranches during stock roundups, branding, etc., and it was not practical to return to the main ranch every day.

    The cabin with the water 'hydrant' is probably a 'high pasture' bunkhouse for cowboys driving cattle. Or was. That hydrant dispensed water supplied from a well equipped with a well pump that was powered by a generator. Cattle and men gotta drink!

    • @TomSpurlock
      @TomSpurlock 4 роки тому

      No well pump needed. The water was gravity fed, from the underground reservoir, shown, up on the mountain above the cabin. It was fed by a water pipe, shown, coming from higher on the mountain where water apparently came out as a spring. I presume they left due to lack of water.

    • @johntilson2535
      @johntilson2535 4 роки тому

      @@TomSpurlock I saw that as well. But I wasn't sure gravity would provide the pressure above say 'bubbling' out of those hydrants needed to fill water troughs or supply that shower quickly enough without added assistance of a 'lift pump'. Plus, I noticed the electric refrigerator. A genny would've definitely been needed to run that!
      And as I mentioned, that looks like a High pasture 'summer' bunkhouse. Not a permanent residence. But who knows? I could be wrong. And you may be right. I would have preferred one of Hussy's colorful scenario explanations over my boring one any day! lol

    Aha Sarah, I finally went to town, The Dalles, Oregon, and bought some Blush "Box Wine" (my favorite wine), so now when you have your glass of wine, so can I. Oh yeah, I have a Toyota Too! Not a 4 runner, its a Corolla CE. It works for me. Lots of Love, James. That pump is not a pump, it is called a "Frostless". Each time it is returned to the down position, the water drains out of the pipe so it won't freeze.

Some are still stocked with food. I have used the Hot Springs you mentioned many times. I have been up in that area many times as my family roots at the turn of the 20th century come from Goldfield. That blue jobby is just a faucet, not a pump, Darlin'. I'm going along with the crowd, Lass. Seems like a rancher's line camp...a remote station to deal with cattle, horses or
    whatever. Still very interesting and thanks for not revealing the location. My bet is that the paneling for the ceiling is hiding some styrofoam insulation. A few mice chewing
    that stuff up probably cause some to fall an get tangled in the cobwebs. And that's probably the camp kitchen and is only stocked with stuff when it's being used to feed
    hungry cow pokes. When they get don't working around there, they probably pack most stuff up and haul it home. Great video, Love. Thanks for sharing while staying safe.

I'm sure you would love it and the little town here is really cool to check out, it's really a beautiful and historic, great little bar and store and things to check out in the area.
