If you listen to this tutorial, and abide by it, you will see pronounced improvement immediately. Once we are prepared to make a quality golf swing, then, and only then, will we meet with success. Excellent teaching, man! I am grateful.
Thank you, @madhur732. I appreciate the feedback (and taking the time to comment; apparently, that helps spread our videos by the YT algorithm). My goal is definitely clear, concise, quick instruction without the noise of clickbait, self-aggrandizing, etc., so I appreciate that specific feedback especially. :) Cheers, RJ
Thanks, Tommy. We very much appreciate this feedback. It's great confirmation of my teaching philosophy ( ua-cam.com/video/NrmvNOIO_a0/v-deo.html ) and main goal of helping folks demystify the complexity of golf. For sure, it's a detail oriented sport that takes time and practice to master, but my goal is to provide content that enables anyone to achieve it! ...and quickly! Best, RJ
Calvin Pete talked about ball position, ball position, ball position. As much as I enjoyed him I must admit you explained it better. I’m impressed. Thank you
Thank you, Anthony. I could not say this better myself. Mr. Pete is right. And, I must admit, this is very generous praise, which I greatly appreciate. Stay tuned! We have a lot more content coming down the pike! Best, RJ
Thank you, Vinay. I appreciate the kind words, very much. And, this has been my teaching philosophy for quite some time but it took a long time of trial-and-error to develop. I also was very fortunate to have direct influence and input from PGA Master Professionals, players and other mentors along the way. Please do subscribe so that you can get notified when we release new content (we are shooting a ton more this Summer) and I guess it helps spread the word, too. :) Cheers, RJ
Thank you, Khaizal. We appreciate the positive feedback and especially appreciate the willingness to share the word with your friends as we grow our new channel. Stay tuned for more! Best, RJ
Thanks, Michael. Greatly appreciate your viewership and please don't hesitate to let us know what content you'd find most helpful. My primary goal with the channel is to help folks improve their game and I love to get feedback directly. Best, RJ
I hope this pre-shot set up helps with my consistency. I like your video. Direct and to the point. Had a few lessons. With a few different coaches no one showed me this approach. I feel like I wasted my money. I’ll be watching more of your videos.
Wow, this is very high praise, which I appreciate greatly. I've heard many have the same feelings about previous lessons, but it's never a bad idea to get out there with a coach -- and just be patient until you find the right one. They are out there! And, while I don't think anything is a substitute for hands-on, in-person training, I'm more than happy to be your virtual coach at any time! ;-) Glad you are enjoying so much of the content. Warms the heart. Stay tuned, because we have a lot more coming down the pike. Best, RJ p.s. Let me know how the setup and pre-shot routine plays out for you.
Thanks, Robert. We put a lot in this video, for sure, and I hope it will help you improve your setup. Thank you for being part of our audience and stay tuned for a lot more coming this summer. Best, RJ
Thank you, Echefula. "To the point and clear" is about as high of praise as I could hope for. So, thank you, again. Stay tuned for more coming! Best, RJ
I pretty much do this, however 2 things that make it even better... 70% of weight should be on left foot and remind people they CAN NOT move their head during swing.
Hi @GoldGunsandGolf. Thank you for your comment. My preference during setup (for a full swing) is for an even weight distribution with my weight over the balls of the feet. Otherwise, the physics will likely push you into a reverse pivot if your weight is shifted forward during the backswing. Consequently, this would make it difficult to pivot into and load up the right hip with your weight in your right heel (at the top of backswing) in order to push off the ground to generate max power. I used to do this myself, in fact, in my early years. But, when I started working at GolfTEC, I was able to watch myself on video and work my way toward an even distribution. It made a big difference for me, personally, but took several months to correct. Btw, this is not a plug for GolfTEC and we are not sponsored by them; it just happened to be my first exposure to the technology that allowed me to see what was going on with my swing. All that said, if this sort of weight distribution works for you, then it's not necessarily wrong! My point is, if I were teaching a new person, I would definitely push them toward an even distribution. With respect to the head movement, you are correct and this is something I'll be going into in great detail with our up-coming deep dive videos into ALL FOURTEEN principles of the golf swing (see my introduction video regarding the "Five Laws & 14 Principles of the Golf Swing" here: ua-cam.com/video/qBL2_fckywY/v-deo.html ). Best, RJ

Hi RJ, I just came across your channel as I wanted to re connect with my set up fundamentals and I must say your instructions are great , very clear and easy to follow. I’m going to put this video in to o action next time at the range. Many thanks for the excellent content .
Thanks, David. Thank you for this very generous praise. Setup and all the related fundamentals can be daunting, so I'm very pleased to hear you found it easy to follow and concise. Let me know if you've been able to put any of it to the test. I'd love your direct feedback. Please stay tuned for a lot more content coming soon! And, as my "youtube guy" keeps telling me, when someone subscribes, it will notify them when new content comes available. Cheers, RJ

What an outstanding lesson video. I have been playing golf for nearly 60 years (mostly badly) and had my share of lessons. Your positioning technique is as good as any I have seen and super simple. Will put it to the test tomorrow. Then all I will have to do is get the swing right...but that's the easy bit, right? Good luck with the chanel
Thank you, Bob! I very much appreciate this feedback. Really makes me happy to see you take the knowledge to heart and, especially, to the course! That is EXACTLY what my goal is with this channel, whether it's for 1 million subscribers or just one. I'm happy to spread the wealth. Were you able to make out to the course today? If so, I'd love to hear how it went. Best, RJ
@@rjgolfTodays game over, tried to follow your advice, some good some not...situation normal. Easier to find the low point at address, still a challenge to hit it in the swing. Worked on restricting my lateral movement and that seemed to help. I had 2 shanks with wedges and developed a high loopy fade with driver and this is new for me. Usual driver flight is straight or slight draw. Will continue watching for your tips. Thanks for the channel and your response, good luck.
Glad to hear you are working on it. It's hard to diagnose without seeing in person, so I don't want to presume to know where to focus, but I'd look at areas such as maintaining your spine angle throughout the swing, distance from the ball (could be too close?) and path and face angle at impact (regarding the slice issue).
Great vid! Quick question, how far away do you hold the end of the club from your belt buckle before you bend from the waist? Is there a certain distance away for each club? Is it the same for all clubs?
Hi, Mike. Great question. I think I show this in the video but might have been quick on the explanation, but here's the answer to marry up with the video. All you need to do is hold the club PARALLEL TO THE GROUND AT BELT BUCKLE HEIGHT WITH BOTH ARMS FULLY EXTENDED (at the elbow). Do these three things and it will give you the perfect position to then pivot at the hips to find the perfect ball position (see this at 01:40). Best, RJ
Hi Michael... it's definitely on the downswing. But, this setup video is intended to address setup to the ball more so than swing mechanics, which we are in the process of shooting this Summer, so please stay tuned as we will be going deep into dynamic sequencing of the entire golf swing. Best RJ
Shoulder width or chest width? I don't have the biggest shoulders in the world but true shoulder width feels enormously wide to me. Thanks, great video.
In short, yes, you can use this method to determine where to place the tee in relation to your stance (i.e. ball position; refer to time stamp 1:56 to 3:53; and 5:26 to 6:15). But, setup and swing will change with the presence of the tee. For example, stance will widen a bit and secondary spine angle will increase relative to club length and presence of tee (time stamp 6:43 wrt when on a tee); and lead foot might flare out a bit more, personal preference (time stamp 7:40). And, as always, don't forget to hover the club (separate video here ua-cam.com/video/9l29SK-xt58/v-deo.html ). All that said, the swing will definitely be different but that's a whole 'nother set of videos! Stay tuned as we will be addressing all of this in followup videos as we build out our "Topic 5 :: Power Game" playlist. Best, RJ

No. People who do that push off their front foot on the downswing and always reverse pivot. That's horrible advice
