A 2.22 at Manchester is part of the journey towards the goal. Using lighter, faster shoes at a faster course with better preparation is looking good, no?
Hi Nick new to your channel. Love your content. Just ran my third park run, started off at 30 mins, finshed in 26.20 today new PB. Thanks for the motivation 👍
Fair play Nick, very consise breakdown of what goes into these attempts. I personally have never run an official marathon but did 3x60km ultras last year cross country which got me into the distance game! That 2:20 is yours brother! Im hoping to get over the 100k ultra mark this year so I'm training hard and consistently and your content inspires me to keep going hard!
I've been binging your videos a lot the past few days and weeks. So much so that now when I'm on my runs I think a lot about what you say as I'm going through them. You're a great and positive dude. Keep it up, my man 😁
Your description is exactly what i felt on my half marathon just scaled down. Riding the threshold is just a time bomb and when it hit you, you can just accept the fate.
It's interesting to see the race from the elite's perspective- it seems super lonely out there at times! I can't imagine having to run long stretches on my own so extra props to you for still being able to execute such a fantastic time. I know 2 20 is the goal but 2 22 is still by all means a very impressive time, especially for a non Prof athlete with a family! 👊👊👊
I like your enthusiasm! I'm 47 and running Cph Marathon tomorrow.. My first. Started running about a year a ago. Goal time is 3:20 🙂. My biggest concern right now is if I can take a proper dump tomorrow morning! All the pasta need to pass before the race!
@@angeloskadis9968 My quads just went out on me after only 17 km, so the remainder was mainly on will. About 30 meters before the finish line i started wobbling and it was if someone just flipped the switch on me and I was escorted in by samaritans. So weird because I almost ran an even split and I never have problems with me quads in training. Hope your went better than mine! :-)
@@justalilbester youll get there, youve got great spirit and ambition and dedication. Eyes pinned on your next marathon nic - the day will.come! Keep believing 🤟
It must be difficult to balance your social media life with your meetings etc…with life as a runner. When it comes to these marathon race weekends, can you maybe stop your obligations before one of them so your truly rested and ready ?
When life allows I’ll definitely have a training block where I fully focus on the race. But I’m not in that position just yet, so for now we keen it exciting and do what we can ;)
Kudos to your pacer. I paced 2 friends, allowing them to draft a bit and that is a lot harder thing to do than I expected. Do you try to get people to share work during the run to avoid runners just sitting there in the back? Do you just mention that it’s their turn to take lead?
Hey Nick, I have been following you for a while and I enjoy all your content. You are so much faster and more talented than me, but I relate to everything you say. One thing I will tell you which you probably know, life is a massive journey and don’t forget to celebrate and enjoy what you have. You will someday break 2:20 and all these steps along the path will make it ever so precious when you do. Don’t be too hard on yourself for the process we must all go through for all great achievements.
Would you ever consider getting a pacer or two for your next marathon? I’m not a runner really but it seems like the pacer in this race helped loads. Not sure if they are “legal” for the entire race or can be switched at the half!
My two cents regarding the shoes: take the best ones you can get! Maybe the next race will be the best one of your live and then it would be a shame if you 'saved' those shoes for a different race. Also, if they are as good as some suggest, then everybody will be using them soon, so you don't have an unfair advantag at running a good time. It's just that you can do this a few month before most of us (In my opinion this is only relevant when you're racing for position, not for time).
Hi Nick, have you done Chester marathon or know anything about it ? I was hoping to break 2.45 but came in at just over 2.46 😢 want to get this at chester !
Train like you will run in heavy shoes! Meaning train hard; and THEN still run in the Pro Evo 1 at Berlin, you will feel so great with the awesome training plus, an amazing feeling of the new shoes!! Prediction 2:18:20 👊🏻
Hi nick or anyone reading this who can offer advice. I’m a keen runner who has broken his 5th metatarsal on Boxing Day. I stopped running and cross trained for 6 weeks then tried returning to running. Long story short I’ve come back too soon and got a callus on my break. Been to the osteopath who’s said to rest more, massage the foot and strength exercises on the ankle. He said if that doesn’t work then I might have to knock running on the head. I can’t bear the thought of giving up nearly all my personal goals are around running. I don’t run with a club and don’t really know where to turn. If you were in my position what would you do? Who would you speak to? I Don’t mind paying any costs to run pain free again I just don’t know what to do next. Any advice would mean a lot. Thank you in advance. Matt

top marathon runners thought they were slow frank shroter 70s 80s could run a 4 min mile... 1320 for 5km or faster .. kipchoge runs a 350 mile... the track runners will clean up the road... they all started with track to run best times for3km, 5,10km these are the top marathon runners..

The moment you run below the 2:20 - your brain will set a new goal (maybe 2:18) - it’s human nature. Of course that doesn’t mean that 2:20 should excite you as a goal - you’ll probably feel great when you do it (you will 🤞) for at least 2 days 😅
