Jigging for Kokanee

We have been loving jigging for kokanee. This technique is new to us and we are sharing what we learn with anglers on the water, through our Facebook group, Kokanee Fishing BC and through our UA-cam Channel.

do you guys not like eating bows? are they not good eating from around that area?

We prefer eating kokanee. Growing up on the coast, I ate a lot of salmon. I like trout when it's cooked over a camp fire with some bread and butter, but other than that, I would choose kokanee most days if I had a choice. That being said, I've been thinking about trying some trout from a variety of lakes in the area this year. I'm curious to learn if there's a difference between the taste between rainbows from different lakes (shallow versus deep).

what is that fancy net you've got? i can't find anything like it on a search.

The net I have is an ego slider net. I bought money from Whole Sale Sports many years ago. I think Cabelas carries them. And I think I saw them in Salmon Arm at Westside Stores a few years ago. You can also order off the Ego website.

New to the channel live in Kamloops where are you buying the big nasty rattle jigs?

I bought mine at Lone Butte Sporting Goods. I'm not sure if there are any stores in Kamloops that has them.

Have you jigged for them in the summer time using an ice fishing set up (flasher, leader, jig head)?
I definitely have to get some of these rattle heads. I hope PG carries them.

Yes, I've used an ice fishing set in the summer. It works, but sometimes isn't heavy enough for my liking.
Last time I bought some I found them at KKS Tactical in Prince George.

Here's a video I made using an ice fishing setup this year. The ice fishing rod was too short for my liking. A regular rod works well.
