- We caught a big lake trout jigging with Buzz Bombs on this episode. We also caught a perfect sized lake trout for a meal.
Here's a couple links to some of our favorite products to use for lake trout fishing in BC.

Another awesome video. Great to see three generations fishing together
It was a good time and great memory.
Great video, looks like you do really good on bridge lake!
We do alright. We have spent many hours exploring the lake and we still haven't fished half of it yet.
geez must be easy to catch lakers when all you do is snag the tail of them.
No, it's not easy. It's harder to land a laker when it's in the tail and it's also not great for the fish.
I have heard that lake trout will smack their prey with their tails to knock their prey out then circle back to eat. I believe this is what has happened to us.and it's happened more than once which seems unusual
Couple questions Ben:
What type of rod do you need for those monsters?
Are you spot locked or anchored?
Some big fish you've pulled in jigging and I can't wait to try it soon. Thanks for the great content!
We have been using what we have. I use a stiff coho rod, but prefer my other 2 salmon rods I have from back in the day when I used to bottom bounce the Kitimat River. I have a Berkley and Fenwick. They are 8 to 9ft. I think a stiff 7ft rod would be perfect in the boat.
We drift over spots. I don't have an electric motor with anchor lock features yet.
I'm glad you like the content. 👍
The cradle net you have is very cool, where did you get that? Getting the kids on some big lakers is awesome love the video great work
I got this cradle net in Edmonton at the Fishin Hole. It was perfect for helping recover that fish so it could swim away.
I'm glad you liked the video.
I can't believe that big one was landed by it's tail. How long was that battle? Did it end up swimming off on it's own?
It was a long battle. We took our time because t
We though it was a lot bigger.
Yes. It ended up swimming away very strong. That was the first time using our cradle net and I was happy to have it. The cradle helped keep the fish upright and able to recover comfortably in the net. I wasn't thinking about filming at the time. I wanted to focus on getting that fish to swim away. Next time, I'll try to ha e someone film it, because I was impressed with the cradle.
Cradles have been super expensive when I've looked them up... how much was that one? Is it rubberized netting?

This one was about $100. We bought it at the Fishing Hole in Edmonton this year. And yes, it's a rubber coating.
@@FougereFamilyAdventures wow that's reasonable. I'll have to look into this. Thanks!
Great fish but remember that hoodie in contact with the fish probably removed its protective slime and may cause it to get fungus where it contacted the hoodie. Best to keep those big old fish in the water if it cant be held up with only bare skin contact.
I've never heard of that before. Do you have any literature or links to places I can look this up? Maybe we all need to wear rubber clothing like our nets?
The good news here, Austin has become conscious and aware of conservation of the species through catch and release.
