Night Jigging for Kokanee Salmon in Washington (Catch Clean Cook)

  • Cheng and I headed out to Loon Lake (Stevens county) for some redemption on Kokanee Salmon AKA Silver Trout. We were actually fishing for them like 3 nights prior to this trip but were defeated after landing only 7 kokanees in 4 hours. So we went back home and did a bunch of research, purchased better-suited kokanee fishing gear, and headed back out with hopes to do better than the first trip.

FYI the daily limit ends at midnight... Soo you could have got 20 each.
Your setup is close, just use a regular 7' ultra light, and a jigging motion, when you feel weight, follow threw with a hook set. I usually run the same glow hooks under small gold cast masters. I run a diy led light deeper down, and LEDs inside the boat. Idk if that makes a difference, but any night under 15 fish is slow. Good vid brother.

Have to admit, at first I was not impressed because of the size. LOL. But after see how much meat you get, I get it. Looks so yummy. God is good.

if i knew these fish were going to be this small id downsize even more.. get a smaller hook that is also thinner.. just put a couple of maggots on there.. and thinner line.. u will set the hook a lot better esp when ur fishing with rods like those.. its all about the finesse if ur going for small fish like those.. and 20lb line and a size 4 hook isnt finesse at all..
