@ObservantSeedsower awesome 👌 I'll have to check that out! 😀 I have not shot mine yet, but it's what I hear a lot of folks saying about the 1300 and up 'high brass' I have a bunch off ammo on its way and a Turkish robocop looking bullpup pump 12G. I Also got a RIA vrpf14 pump to try out all together with the Tokerav as all of them cost $199 from PSA clearance online.
I had this same issue with cycling. I tried oobuck 2.. and 3" and bird shot, none of it cycled. Only thing I could get to cycle was 000buck but idr any details on the ammo. Glad theres a vid to point out whats recommended, thanks guys
I recently bought a Tokarev and all it needed in my case for it to function properly was breaking it in. In the beginning I kept having to re-bolt it but after about 10--13 rounds it ran each one smoothly. Hope this helps anyone who recently bought a Tokarev as well.
Thank you for your comments. If you watched this video you see where I pointed out the problem. The owner of the shotgun asked me to go ahead and fix it. The follow up video shows the results only one week later. It actually functions with anything I put in it now.
Just spring needs breaking period. Same thing with my vr80. What i recommend is when you store the gun inside your safe, pull the charging handle all the wya back and leave it for couple weeks so the spring can be loose a bit
I didn’t have any issues with ejection, but when I installed my charging handle I removed the grip and barrel. Also only loaded 4 in the factory mag with 2 3/4 shells. No problems with cycling or ejection. Does great with the 10 round mag and 20 round drum
I just bought the sport version of this. This video helped a bit on installing the charging lever. At 63 it was the 1st time I ever had to install a charge lever. It was 35ish yrs ago when I was in law enforcement in Texas that I purchased a new shotgun. Not to mention my hands no longer work as they used to lol.
You got to break these semi-auto Turkish shotguns in by racking the slide hard as hell like 200 times before you put any oil on it to wear the parts in a little bit. Then leave the bolt locked back for awhile and itll loosen the spring so itll run lighter loads better
Before I purchased the TBP12 I watched numerous videos showing the same result of flawless operation. So given that there were only two videos showing the constant malfunctions FTF, FTE I though what the hell Ill chance it. Well, I am here to state this thing SUCKS! 50 rounds of 2 3/4 turkey loads 1550 fps and 50 failures. NOT ONE ROUND FUNCTIONED. You ask; did I clean the gun beforehand? Yes, I did a thorough job of cleaning and inspecting and proper lubrication and assembly. Been doing this for 60 years. Contacted Tokarev and they said nothing. He suggested inserting the magazine fully, then pulling down to lock the mag release mechanism. Yes, you can insert the magazine too far into the receiver and the back of the mag will block the bolt from going forward. POOR DESIGN #1. Second, the factory Tokarev 10 rd mags bulge when loaded and cause the rounds to go crooked inside and not feed correctly. I am so disappointed, because I thought the design and ease of assembly/disassembly was good. I tried 3" shells but they still don't function any better.. SO far, totally disappointed and feeling ripped off
This video is probably too long. I show the cause of problems near the end and then I fix it and show it running almost perfectly in the follow up video. I sympathize with your disappointment.
You are inserting the magazine into the rifle too hard. That's why it goes up so much. Also, use a different cartridge. It is necessary to increase the gram size. I have this product too and have not had any problems. There are errors caused by you.
Howdy, Brother! The info you provide to end users is much appreciated. Question: What would be your choice between the Tokarev TAR 12P and the Tokarev TAR TT12?

@@taylorfurr6530 let me rephrase that I could only put two shells at a time because of the range I was at it would fire one but the second wold jam this happened six times. Couldn't even get the bolt back the last time
Start out with high velocity high brass to break it in. It will cycle. I ran 50 rounds of 00 buckshot and mixed it up from there. I do like the JTS model a lot more.
Before you send it back try high power high brass shotgun shells 2 3/4” or at least one 3” magnum #4 birdshot load . Just to see if the more powerful shells will make it cycle . The low brass #8 birdshot loads may be too weak to force the action back .
Need higher brass shells. 2 3/4 shell with higher velocity to move the bolt back. Anything AR platform just like the 50 AE DE with that bolt you need high pressure to move it back. Lower velocity rounds will not cut it in those AR style weapons. Also clean it and oil it properly. And new weapons need at least 100 rounds through them to be properly broken in. To function properly.
Seems like the sights are on backwards. They should fold to the rear. That winchester ammo is notorious for being sicky in the chamber. Try some Federal ammo.
