    The 6ghz radio is disabled in Australia (you can actually see it says disabled in your video when you look at insights info of the AP). You can get around this by setting your region in the network controller to the US.
    Once you do this, try creating a new wireless network that 6ghz only and WPA3 and your phone should connect using 6E.

      Good pickup! Yes, it was indeed disabled, but not because of Australia. As @dannymm commented, Wifi6E only supports WPA3 for security protocol. So if I enable the 6Ghz band (Wifi 6E) only devices that support WPA3 will connect to that SSID. No region change needed.
      I do need to set up a separate SSID for 6Ghz as you mention though. Perhaps that should be the next video 😁

    I ran this AP in my house with just me and my wife for months and loved it. Way too much for just the two of us. LOL

      Yeah, it has some real power and throughput. You were "future proofing", right? 😂

    Unifi 6E will only allow WPA3 so all your devices will need to support that on the other bands too. You would have to create a separate network just for the 6E devices. As soon as you enable the 6ghz band it switches over to WPA3 and most of the devices disconnect and then can’t connect!

      Hmmmm, interesting. I have 6Ghz enabled and there are 12 clients connected on 2.4 and 5Ghz. I will keep it in mind.

      @@LarsKlintTech in the network console under setting > wifi > default lan advanced (manual) do you have all 3 wifi bands ticked?

       @dannymm Thanks Danny. I did not, so I have checked it now. I see what you mean though, so it disables anything but WPA3. I will see what connects over the next few days.
      Thanks again. Appreciate the help 😊

    Unlike Wifi 5 which only supports 5Ghz Wifi 6 supports 2.4, 5 and 6 (with 6E) Ghz. With the band splitting (I think that is what it is called) it very much improves connectivity for 2.5Ghz devices. Also 2.4 is has much better range than 5 or 6Ghz. So for IOT devices we really need to Wifi 6 versions to be released. and since 2.4Ghz radios are so cheap it means we can take advantage of Wifi 6 but get the range of 2.4.
    ATM I have changed all my access points over to Wifi 6, but ATM I don't see the need for this access point, other than the geek inside wanting it because it is fast and shiner than the AC Pro.

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  Рік тому

      Yep, absolutely. I think it will be a while before IOT devices will support Wifi 6 generally. I haven't changed all mine over yet, but have 4 so far with another one coming soon.
      The AC Pro is definitely a great choice for almost anywhere too 😊

    I only have 1 old AP-Lite and 31 Wireless devices, which model would you replace it with?

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  2 місяці тому +1

      Currently, I would go with the U7 Pro, which I just did a video on too: ua-cam.com/video/rw0hs6efymg/v-deo.html
      That would future proof you setup somewhat, and allow you to use WIFI7 when devices start supporting it.

    Can this AP be used on a Asus router..? I want to wait a bit with getting the UDM.

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes, you can certainly use Unifi APs with other routers and switches. You can then use the mobile app to do a minimal amount of management. You don't get the full Unifi Network controller experience until you get something like the UDM.

      @@LarsKlintTech thank you Lars. Talking about the UDM Pro/SE, they are quite old now (2 and 4yrs since release..), there must be an upgraded version soon..? (Quite big investment, and even though the performance of the UDM is very good, im a bit reluctant to invest in 2-4yr old stuff if you understand..)

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  8 місяців тому +1

      @@droneforfun5384 I don't know tbh. I wouldn't hesitate getting the UDM SE now, as it will be support far into the future, if past experience is anything to go by. I understand though, if you want to wait too.
