Hi Cody - Have you noticed any performance differences when deploying these at standard wall outlet height (close to the floor) versus standard light switch height (several feet or a couple meters off the floor)? Thanks!
When you get the chance it would be VERY interesting to see a comparison between U6 Enterprise (WiFi 6E) and U6 Pro (WiFi 6) - tests should be done on a WiFi 6E compatible device, such as the new Samsung S22 Ultra / Google Pixel 6.
@@MactelecomNetworks I see that in Europe they can be ordered. For testing I would recommend just borrowing a WiFi 6E device from a friend. Buying one is not worth the expense. It will be interesting to see how much does the 2.5 Gbps port + WiFi 6E differ from everything else that's on the market. Range from AP would also be interesting. There aren't any good videos about this yet. So it could become quite viral.
Nice video. I assume the I’m-wall APs are specially made to be mounted this low on the wall and still have good coverage but what range does it have compared to the other Wi-Fi 6 APs in real life?
Nice video once again and Cody if you don’t mind if you end up making a video on udr please add in the place to change dns because I have looked everywhere and can not find it anywhere
I never understood how you can get 5.3 Gbps aggregate throughput rate Wifi when your wired uplink is only GbE!!! do they mean between 2 devices connected to the same AP?
Cody, your reviews would be so much more helpful if when you show your test results, you add in comparisons from other similar products you’ve tested like the U6 Lite, Pro, LR etc so we get a much better idea of it’s capabilities. Great video otherwise. Thanks!
I’ll grab all the info from the other APs and combine them into a google doc so people can view it. It’s to much reading of numbers that don’t really mean anything as peoples environment will be different
Nice video. One question: can we connect WiFi6 in-wall as mesh access point (not connect directly to Ubiquiti switch)? Then use the extra ethernet to connect to desktop computer. I want to use WiFi6 in-wall as a computer WiFi adapter. Thank you.
If looking for video ideas, would love to see a video explaining 'real world' radiation patterns of various access points, when to use them. comparing the IW, the standard 'U6plus' and something like the UniFi U6 Mesh Access. If you had a garden 350' from back of house, which one is directional. Does the IW radiate behind or just to the front or more 360 degree? Is the UniFi U6 Mesh Access 360 degree?
Hi there 👋, I saw you did a RJ 45 connector straight on the cable. In your opinion, it's oke? I always see a lot of people saying you must not do that! In 2 weeks in starting with my network, in some spots I can use a keystone and from there a patch cable, but some spots I don't have the place.
Love the concept of the U6 in-wall. My only issue is I’m getting very low throughput (around 95mbps over 25m of CAT5E), however I’ve just noticed I’m powering this using 802.3af 15w. Could that be the problem or the CAT5E. Any thoughts? Thanks
Hy Cody.. does the U6 inwall support mesh uplink to another AP? I have a remote location without lan cabling and want to connect wireless to the network. I also have some wired devices in that location so i hope the switch would output the lan still when only a wireless uplink is avaliable
Any idea if the U6 In-wall still supports the UniFi In-Wall HD Junction Box (SKU: UAP-IW-HD-JB) since its a bit wider? Would roll out this in each classroom but the wall are brick so we would work with a small cable tray that connects to the junction box just next to the teachers desk.
Would you use these on the 1st floor of a 2 floor house where there are no drops in the ceilings on the 1st floor and enable mesh in lieu of using something like and Arlo mesh system?
I have a couple of vlans (Camera vlan, General vlan and Guest vlan) created already. Can I assign different vlan (port profile) to different port on U6-IW?
@@MactelecomNetworks Thanks, I've only paid them a few thousand the past few months.... so I'm a small fish hopefully this issue can be fixed, I still have a number of devices to purchase and deploy.
Apparently I hit the wrong keystroke on a digit in my credit card number, they processed an order anyway and their response is to intermittently cancel orders, miss identify what credit card company card was the issue. Its been terribly unproductive and still don't have it resolved since ubiquiti says I need to go to the bank and fix it but I don't have an account that I can fix it with. Certainly my mistake if I miss entered a single digit, and have repeatedly offered to pay. But it appears they use a 3rd party to process payments and the third party processed it then charged it back. Its caused a lot of misinformation coming from their end resulting in me being unable to fix it from this point, which is frustrating and without being able to have an actual phone conversation to correct the issue its still unresolved....
With this design, anyone can pry the AP off the wall, taking the AP away AND access the main network (especially when these are installed at relatively low and accessible locations). IW-HD and AC-IW both had security torx screws on the cover and on the AP to reduce this chance of happening.
Why do they call them In Wall when they're really On Wall. When I first saw the name, I was envisioning something that'd actually be flush with the edge of the wall to make it less noticeable.
@@MactelecomNetworks Funny how you removed the link to information people could actually use. A link was provided for speed comparison site and you removed it. Why because it doesn't give you credit?
@@drbrycedavis credit for what lol are you talking about a comparison chart? I have one in the works for all the APs then I will add the link to this video

Great content ,Waiting for this to come available in UK . Excellent tutorial as always Cody!
Great review. When you deploy these in hotels, do you place in every room/unit or stagger? Do you lower power/signal so they don't step on each other?

Can’t do any test until it is release from ea . Ya I need a new device for wifi 6e testing but don’t want to spend the money 😭

Just picked up a U6 In Wall today as a temporary solution to get internet it to my garage and I was surprised at the weight of this thing!
Hopefully these come to the Canada store soon. Great video as usual!

Did any one else notice the potential Dream Wall behind Cody in his office? 😂
Maybeeee
man I have been trying to get my hands on this for months! Wish it had at least one 2.5gb rj45 though
I had mine from EA hopefully more stock next week
Can you temporarilly turn off wifi of device and just use Cable?
I just order some gear today. Sorry did not know you had a link. Will use it in the future.
Hey it’s all good the affiliate link have been gone a while they did a test run of 3 weeks

Do you need a Ubiquity switch to run this access point or can it work without it?
why'd you terminate the cat cable instead of having it the way you did before?
Great a new product that will always be sold out in the online store, just great...
It supports 160 width according to the website, where is the speed tests on that?
Got a thumbs-up for the cat. The video was good, too!

Cody are there any concerns with heat and connecting the aluminum bracket directly to the drywall with anchors vs a metal box?
How does it work with 4 ports -> 1 cable? What sort of speeds might you see with 4 cables plugged in?
Great video, Cody! Looking forward to nabbing one soon.

Do you have compare numbers with your In-Wall HD? That way we know the "difference" with the Wifi6?

First. Haha. But seriously was waiting for a decent review. Thanks Cody! How are the cats doing with their Unifi equipment?
That was quick 😂 they love it. You’ll quick shots of the cats in this video

The one in this video yup. The other one the netally nXG I did not that’s like $15,000

That's why vlan exist, the stealing the AP meh not way to stop that from someone dedicated enough
Intriguing product, but mostly moot, because like virtually EVERY other ubiquiti product, it's "sold out" 🙄
why use wifi when these access points have four ports to go wired ? I mean for mobile and that's about it yes??

Honestly no clue some times the naming convention of networking gear is confusing
Waiting for 6E…
Might be waiting a bit for the 6e in wall

Guess it depends how you were raised Always had anaimals. I have two Siamese cats

Lots of people outside the USA
