The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.
People often ask me to name my favorite bands which is next to impossible. But I have narrowed it down to the Doors, Led Zeppelin and Rush. All three of these bands have brought me the most joy through the years.

@@crucifire9224 That would be impossible, I have seen Rush maybe 7 or 8 times and Zeppelin in 73, 75 and three different nights in 1977 when they played six nights at the forum here in L.A. I would have to say that "Achilles last stand" live in 77 was fantastic (Bonhams drumming was relentless). Sadly I.was to young to have seen the Doors, but I always loved Morrison hotel.

Jim Morrison and The Doors were a gift to us, magic in a bottle that came and went so fast but left us with music and words to enjoy for the rest of time. I always said it and will continue to, The Doors are like no other band, their sound and words are just above and beyond everyone else. I dont think people realize just how special this band was, and still is. Poor Rob and John, the only 2 left.... their memory of Ray is much stronger, but think about their memory of Jim? He's been gone for over 50 years now, and he was only on the scene a handful of years!!! It must hurt so bad to wanna be able to listen to Jim's poetic speak and outlook on things just one... more... time. This band, in such short time, has accomplished 6 studio albums and a few live albums, with each studio album bolstering a handful of major hits, with The Soft Parade yielding only one hit. Now to be fair, tho, The Soft Parade has become a cult favorite for those in the know. They've accomplished this explosion into the musical scene from only 1967 to 1971, and still get radio play to this day!!! Its truly insane when you actually think about it. They've also released lots of live recordings, done touring all over, and even got kicked out of New Haven in such a short band life span. It must have been such a heart ache to learn of Jim's passing, and to never be able to play live the magic that the 4 of them created together... poor LA Woman... that album, which produced 3 mega hits, was dropped onto the scene and then never got to see the stage live. All the beautiful songs these guys created, with their charismatic front man, no longer able to play again together because of ill circumstance. Truly 4 pagan gods of the night, who came and went so fast... yet left behind so much!!! Keep going Robbie and John!You are truly 2 remaining rock gods alive today.
