The Doors channel is the official UA-cam home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.
Got to see the Doors in 1967. I was 16. Doors were still a local LA band at that point. Had not gone national/global yet. Phenomenal show. Still haven't recovered and now I'm 71.
Thanks for sharing, sounds like a great show. Was the line up of members the same that went on to become what was the famous four members?
@@patcom1013 Yes. The band created an eerie atmosphere. Where I saw them there was a circular "Theatre in the round" in LA.. Stage was going round and round. Started out with Manzarek on organ droning. Then drummer Densmore came in adding a subdued bell sound on cymbal and the two continued with their hypnotic drone. Then suddenly, guitar player Kreuger intruded a shrieking feedback scream. At that point only 3 musicians on the stage but I noted the extreme clarity of their sound and its remarkable volume and power. Finally Morrison came striding down the aisle taking to the stage smoking a joint. He was clearly drunk. He held on to the mic stand for dear life as the stage continued round and round. He looked like he would fall down were there no mic stand to hold onto. Suddenly, he lept into the air with his shamanistic scream launching into "Back Door Man". Will never forget that.
@@clarkewi Wow, holy shitballs!! Thanks for that very detailed, visceral memory!
Same here
Saw them at winterland in San Francisco 1967. My favorite band growing up. Having dinner with my parents wasn't the same after that. I am 71 now and i believe that they werw just getting started.

It wasn't just Jim. Every single member of the band made a huge contribution which is untouched to this day.
See Jim's grave in Paris, France if you get a chance. It was more interesting in the 1980s. He was mostly forgotten then but mostly Americans visited. I went to his grave in Pere la Chaise or something like that cemetery in 1987. Almost got arrested! I straightened up his marble bust (later stolen) and the lady with the facility called the Gendarme on me! That is the national police of France. They did nothing as we left.
Jim's been gone for almost 50 years and we fans act like we saw him in concert last night!!...go figure!!!!
Love Doors fans!!!
We rock!
every album is molton rock solid
In addition to their music somehow sounds fresh after you haven't heard a song in a while, it's astounding how you can actually see small clips of Jim posted by young women today, all over the world, saying how hot he is.

Ray Manzarek playing the organ here is epic.
How he does his solo around 3:08 without making a mistake is beyond me
He was so talented and massively under rated
Like skeleton hands as the master of all locks within the keys
He had at least 2 brains.

Some people are destined for immortality. And indeed Jim Morrison is one such soul. Always remain that shining rockstar that went too soon. In all- 5 years; 9 studio albums and 473 concerts and yet half a century later The Doors continues to ''Light my fire''. So many nights i smoked a spliff, listened to the rain and Riders on the Storm. Thanks for the memories Jim Morrison.
He once jumped off of an aircraft carrier.
The sixties - so long ago. So much time passed by. Like another world.

And 3 years later, it all came to an end.
Right on!
Cosmic magic.. ethereal magic..
Jim Morrison was a great poet and his poetry will forever be alive in his music.
right on.
It's alive in all of us..
Yes he was he was an artist in its purest sense with each passing generation we have less ability to not be conforming to societies norms now with the internet and social media that’s all it is is everyone trying to tell everyone else how normal they are and how fucked up other people are. It’s a cycle that has us stuck as a species and the quality of the arts and artists we have to offer has dwindled and art has always been a good indicator of the status of our human society...today we have mostly corporate driven garbage and just people who are conforming so much to the social ideals they don’t even realize it..kinda sad really so many more people could have platforms and do but they are all the same and it’s all about conforming and making it big not about the quality of the material or work.
@@infinitelybetterthannothin1077 I beg to differ.. you just have to dig deeper

I wanna tell you 'bout Texas Radio and the Big Beat
It comes out of the Virginia swamps, cool and slow
With a back beat narrow and hard to master
Some call it heavenly in its brilliance
Others, mean and rueful of the western dream
I love the friends I have gathered together on this thin raft
We've constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping
For this is the land where the Pharaoh die

The interesting thing is Robbie Krieger said that they didn't even consider Jim a singer. They weren't sure who was going to sing.
They had a diamond in the rough in their midst and didn't realize it early on.

best rock band? Steely Dan, greatest rock song? Light My Fire
@@spactick You are right on. Steely Dan is one of my 4 favorite bands along with The Moody Blues, Cat Stevens and The Cars. All four are in the Rock N Roll HOF.
@@22_cincatt ya, nothing against The Doors. They eclipsed The Beatles in 67' with Light My Fire. That song totally dominated the airwaves that summer. I was going to the Fillmore Auditorium here in San Francisco back
then and the weekend that The Doors played at The Fillmore you couldn't get in. There was a line down Geary Blvd around the corner down Steiner St. As to Steely Dan? no band has had the musicianship of those guys.

Jim contacted me in a dream last night. Not sure what he was saying, but maybe it was about this video.

Pay attention to the dream, not the people laughing at your comment. At the very least, you have already learned that he was right when he said (in Riders on the Storm) that our lives would never end. Read Feast of Friends. One of the women friends spoke of being contacted by him (sorry, I can't remember her name...) People who moved into houses where he lived have had strange experiences (I remember that one was in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and maybe Virginia, too.)
@@MarquezSchoolgirl64 yes, I'd say he does have a tendency of energetically visiting people. 🌠

@@MarquezSchoolgirl64 the most I feel like I can mention is I have had a few experiences with Jim's energy and I don't find it unusual that he has a little bit of a reputation of connecting to other people on this realm. He was quite fond of the strange when he was alive so it would make also a lot of sense if he was on the other side. (I hope some of that makes sense 😬🤞)

Jim gets most of the praise....meanwhile Robby was a super talented songwriting guitarist and Ray played great keys while also playing fairly sophisticated bass parts with his left hand to compensate for no actual bassist.
they are all legends, densmores drum rolls and just general nice beats which are also nice to play as a drummer, robby kriegers guitar rocks and then there is ray who goes crazy on the piano all that together with Jim's poetic and entertaining nature.
All four were great. Jim got most of the attention cause he was the front man and his good looks helped. But I agree, they all deserve credit. Brilliant band
The Doors used a bass player on every album. Their live sound was never this bass heavy. I’m pretty sure this video was enhanced with a string bass. Check out around 3:20. Ray’s not playing the bass line.
