The Doors channel is the official UA-cam home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.
Got to see the Doors in 1967. I was 16. Doors were still a local LA band at that point. Had not gone national/global yet. Phenomenal show. Still haven't recovered and now I'm 71.
Thanks for sharing, sounds like a great show. Was the line up of members the same that went on to become what was the famous four members?
@@patcom1013 Yes. The band created an eerie atmosphere. Where I saw them there was a circular "Theatre in the round" in LA.. Stage was going round and round. Started out with Manzarek on organ droning. Then drummer Densmore came in adding a subdued bell sound on cymbal and the two continued with their hypnotic drone. Then suddenly, guitar player Kreuger intruded a shrieking feedback scream. At that point only 3 musicians on the stage but I noted the extreme clarity of their sound and its remarkable volume and power. Finally Morrison came striding down the aisle taking to the stage smoking a joint. He was clearly drunk. He held on to the mic stand for dear life as the stage continued round and round. He looked like he would fall down were there no mic stand to hold onto. Suddenly, he lept into the air with his shamanistic scream launching into "Back Door Man". Will never forget that.
@@clarkewi Wow, holy shitballs!! Thanks for that very detailed, visceral memory!
Same here
Saw them at winterland in San Francisco 1967. My favorite band growing up. Having dinner with my parents wasn't the same after that. I am 71 now and i believe that they werw just getting started.
There will never be another James Douglas Morrison.
God I wish I could've seen Jim Morrison live on stage
It wasn't just Jim. Every single member of the band made a huge contribution which is untouched to this day.
See Jim's grave in Paris, France if you get a chance. It was more interesting in the 1980s. He was mostly forgotten then but mostly Americans visited. I went to his grave in Pere la Chaise or something like that cemetery in 1987. Almost got arrested! I straightened up his marble bust (later stolen) and the lady with the facility called the Gendarme on me! That is the national police of France. They did nothing as we left.
Así es.
Todos contribuyeron a eso que amamos.
Where did he get that great baritone voice???????????
About a billion times better than today’s Crappola Music!
DEFINITELY!
Makes me want to blow my brains out
Jim's been gone for almost 50 years and we fans act like we saw him in concert last night!!...go figure!!!!
Love Doors fans!!!
We rock!
every album is molton rock solid
In addition to their music somehow sounds fresh after you haven't heard a song in a while, it's astounding how you can actually see small clips of Jim posted by young women today, all over the world, saying how hot he is.

Some people are destined for immortality. And indeed Jim Morrison is one such soul. Always remain that shining rockstar that went too soon. In all- 5 years; 9 studio albums and 473 concerts and yet half a century later The Doors continues to ''Light my fire''. So many nights i smoked a spliff, listened to the rain and Riders on the Storm. Thanks for the memories Jim Morrison.
He once jumped off of an aircraft carrier.
YES AMAZING MUSIC 😅❤❤
*The Doors make me feel temporarily alive and free*

Totally
Me too .. from the first time I heard them in HS...my friends thought I was nuts cause in 85 I was listening 🎧 to him. ☮️

Jim was a hell of a singer and the best screamer ever...no doubt.
Disagree. Chester of Linkin park was a better screamer
@@KevinD-wn7pd 😆☣️ WTF HAHAHAHA Share your crack rock, shit must be good apperently.
You know Roger waters??!
Morrison was the first crooner in Rock. He admired Frank Sinatra and to me, he was that singer for the younger generation. Just an incredible, natural singing voice.

Dark poetry in motion, The Doors are the best band to ever come out of Venice Beach, California.
the best american band!
In his interviews, he pauses and answers inane questions with calmness and an intelligence that made him so famous. He was a true poet with natural talent.
Jim Morrison was a great poet and his poetry will forever be alive in his music.
right on.
It's alive in all of us..
Yes he was he was an artist in its purest sense with each passing generation we have less ability to not be conforming to societies norms now with the internet and social media that’s all it is is everyone trying to tell everyone else how normal they are and how fucked up other people are. It’s a cycle that has us stuck as a species and the quality of the arts and artists we have to offer has dwindled and art has always been a good indicator of the status of our human society...today we have mostly corporate driven garbage and just people who are conforming so much to the social ideals they don’t even realize it..kinda sad really so many more people could have platforms and do but they are all the same and it’s all about conforming and making it big not about the quality of the material or work.
@@infinitelybetterthannothin1077 I beg to differ.. you just have to dig deeper

Ray Manzarek playing the organ here is epic.
How he does his solo around 3:08 without making a mistake is beyond me
He was so talented and massively under rated
Like skeleton hands as the master of all locks within the keys
He had at least 2 brains.
@@pinkyysk organists generally being an underrated species in Rock.
Gods gift to the world is ..... The Doors....... posted this day Oct 23, 2021, we who love them shall never let go.
One of the greatest bands in music history period!
The concepts of this band were pure genius. This performance is a fine example of this. Jim Morrison opened with his beautiful poetry before my homie Robby Krieger started with his infectious riffs and then John Densmore incorporated the beats followed by the great Ray Manzarek on organ who was responsible for that unique sound and style of The doors as we know them!
Love Me Two Times and Texas Radio And The Big Beat.
Classic doors!
LOVE ME TWO TIMES BABY ❤️
Relevant then and now!
I feel he was on a different spiritual level not many will understand. Such talent. It’s the power in his music
100%
🥀And Jim's words & manner🦎👑
he was soooo great
People who think Jim was the main player of The Doors are fools! Each member is incredibly skilled! In order to hold Jim when he is off on a tangent or changing through songs in the middle of a song is incredible! The Doors are a magical band and by far my favourite! The magic they created will echoe through time for it is timeless!!!
Jim Morrison brought beauty to the English language, more than anyone I can think of.
Bro, you need to read some literature lol.
Jim was inspired by William Blake. And Blake's language is really inscrutable

I wanna tell you 'bout Texas Radio and the Big Beat
It comes out of the Virginia swamps, cool and slow
With a back beat narrow and hard to master
Some call it heavenly in its brilliance
Others, mean and rueful of the western dream
I love the friends I have gathered together on this thin raft
We've constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping
For this is the land where the Pharaoh die
Children, the river contains specimens
The voices of singing women call us on the far shore
And they are saying:
"Forget the night, live with us in forests of azure"
Meager food for souls forgot
I tell you this
No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn
And one morning you awoke
And the strange sun
And opening your door...
Words just flow off of Jim's lips like no other, and the band played like a well oiled machine, they just oozed greatness.

How could anyone not love this man's voice? I love how he says, "This is the strangest life that I have ever lived." I'm convinced he was an old soul. Rest in peace dear Lizard 🦎 King. You can do anything. ✌️❤️
Amazing voice both singing and speaking
Yes always loved his voice.
The interesting thing is Robbie Krieger said that they didn't even consider Jim a singer. They weren't sure who was going to sing.
They had a diamond in the rough in their midst and didn't realize it early on.
He was...and still is!!! Guiding us from Above 🖤!!!
Ray said he found that little organ at, I believe it was, his Grandma's place. Liked it's sound and incorporated it into the band.
Some bands were just destined for greatness. The Doors were one of them!
the doors was yeah
And they were in the elite of great bands.
Yes I agree they were pretty good and the sound and the words were just as Jim would put it (don’t forget your all a bunch of slaves just kidding I got to have a little fun all right ) pretty good pretty good all right and there has been many real firebrands and bards…so he did not bow down and probably don’t want nobody else doing that very same thing …seeking out your own originality …become and during your own dream …dream .act one through to an angry life ,two sublime ,and three ,and I always liked the way it was written As a chapter heading in the book where I much discovered the subject matter ….the Arrow Falls (I even think Jim would have liked that you know it’s got the arrow in it pretty cool OK time to close the door it was late then and it is late now late
Haunting… in a good way
RIP Jim Morrison 50 years since you left us but we will play your music forever

I’ll put this up against any Beetles song any day of the week. Jim’s a King 👑
A one of a kind; Jim was inspirational to many of us who were looking into the future.....who knows what Jim was experiencing in the relegations of what may have been all too obvious and it perhaps overwhelmed his world..... in any case Jim we will always treasure and remember..... an inspiration that no one else seemed to envision.....

Jim was from a different dimension!!! Now immortal in this 1!!!
He is the epitome of a lead rock singer.

Definitely an amazing poet. That’s why Jim Morrison and the Doors were are and will be the best band
Man, when he sings that final line it gives me the chills. What a song.
As good as they were in the studio they were a good live band ❤
Awesome intro! Morrison has never looked cooler. Probably America's best rock band of alltime. Anyone disagree? I didn't think so.
best rock band? Steely Dan, greatest rock song? Light My Fire
@@spactick You are right on. Steely Dan is one of my 4 favorite bands along with The Moody Blues, Cat Stevens and The Cars. All four are in the Rock N Roll HOF.
@@22_cincatt ya, nothing against The Doors. They eclipsed The Beatles in 67' with Light My Fire. That song totally dominated the airwaves that summer. I was going to the Fillmore Auditorium here in San Francisco back
then and the weekend that The Doors played at The Fillmore you couldn't get in. There was a line down Geary Blvd around the corner down Steiner St. As to Steely Dan? no band has had the musicianship of those guys.
Granted they're more jazz oriented, but for the most part they're a rock group. THE best rock/jazz band ever.
No one's close

Put the addiction aside. Jim's mind was on another level.

Jim was superb singer!!
not singer, he was a poet
Been a Doors fan forever. Love Jim. Still a fan and always will be. No other rock band comes close to the Doors.
Jim Morrison had a gift with music but let's not forget the members of the group that provided the music
Jim was a wordsmith a poet first then musican second. He always wanted to be poet first. 😊
I was in my 20’s in the 1980’s when a close friend gave me the first album as a gift. I went home and put it on my turntable and listened to the whole album Break on through to the end. Now I’m 59 and still
Writing this on Jim's birthday. I'm genuinely grateful for all the Music The Doors made, and I wish they were all around today to see the massive impact it has had on so many people and how it influenced others to get into music. Thanks, Jim love ya
Say what you want about Jim, but he was the only one who taking his audience back to where theatre started, Ancient Greece.
Great voice and was so good looking The Doors will always Light My Fire
A person who saw everything in the purest of clarities, totally aware of his bodily weaknesses. His enemy was ultimately the unfairness he perceived in this world and his inability to facilitate change. His destruction; a complete embracing of that fact. An utter helpless being without any true purpose in a world who’s very boundaries are tempered by the razor sharp savagery on which it has been defined.
Probably the greatest American band of all time with all due respect to the eagles and credence and Lynyrd Skynyrd
Doors fans are the best. I’ve loved them since I played their best of on my dad’s turntable when I was 7 years old. I didn’t quite get it but I knew I felt some connection to their music. I’m 24 now and have never once looked back. I’ll take their music to my grave. All hail the American Night, I bow to thee oh Lizard King.

Jim. An American poet...
That bass(ey) lick Robbie plays is sick!! I think read once Robbie saying he got it from a blues player named Spider John Koerner.
Incredible.
We are all strange with wierd habits we do on our own. When nobody is looking. How ever some day i hope everyone who reads this. I hope you find someone as strange as you. That type of connection love is when you really understand what it's l8ke being in love.
Everyone is weird and a little crazy it's just a matter of how much. Iconic band at the perfect time, not talking about holding flowers and loving the world but looking at the dark side of life and in the 70s music went that direction whether punk or metal someone had to be dark and " evil" in the 60s love your brother mindset. I believe everyone should love everyone but you have to also accept the dark side of any time
Just his voice is psychedelic 😻
Greatest frontman and song writer of all time!!!!
The one and only Doors! 1968 Asbury Park. We want the World and we want it now. Jim took off his leather coat threw it on the ground. Then dropped his cigarette on it. Next he stomped it with his boot. Classic Jim! Perhaps the greatest band from America!
