This is probably the most underrated song in the Doors catalog in my opinion. It's just perfect. This version is great but the one on the Doors "In Concert" double CD is just incredible.
l agree, this is my favorite Doors song, it did not start out that way in my teens, 20s, 30s even 40s l liked it but did not appreciate as l do now.

Think: Just slightly less than 3 years before this, Jim sang these words to Ray on Venice Beach -- and that's what started it all. From jobless beach bums to internationally famous rock stars in only that amount of time. What an amazing transformation.

These are the words Jim read to Ray on Venice Beach that great day they happened to meet, Jim read his spoken word to Ray and the rest is History. With a Frontman with more soul and majic than anyone ever in Rock history. Through music you live forever...without these words we are listening to and a chance meeting on a beach we wouldn't have these incredible moments and memories

For all people whining and moaning for new and more material, I say this: JDM lived 27 years. He didn’t record a long time, but The Doors were very prolific for their time period. You won’t find much more material to be seen/heard, so do the math. Be grateful for what is archived and quit moaning/whining/complaining. There is only so much available.

1968 ,Back when you could start a rock n roll band from scratch. The ''vibes'' from the Vietnam war can be felt in a lot of the Doors music and Jim Morrison. I remember the worry , ''will I get called up''? Will my draft number come up out of the 365 ? We drank beer and shots back then. Today, shut downs cause of COVID is going to cause another war.

And in the baking heat of the California sun, Jim began singing about the moon.
