INFO: James Douglas Morrison, Better known as Jim Morrison was a poet, songwriter, and probably best known for being the distinctive voice of The Doors, one of the most beloved bands of the 60s and 70s. But it wasn’t just the poetry and the music Morrison made with his band that made him stand out. He also had a wild personality, an intense stage presence and outrageous lifestyle. Throughout his entire life, he had somewhat of an obsession for death and personal reinvention and discovery. This came out as vulgar and gloomy themes and disturbing characters in his lyrics. Some would argue that these characters represented Morrison’s alter-egos. Segments of his self-sabotaging behaviour as he dealt with the sudden fame and acceptance. In this video we’ll examine these characters in order to understand Jim Morrison’s personality even better.
I know a lot of you waited looong for this one. Thanks for the patience!

Jim has to be the most unique, obscene, wild, intriguing, mystifying, and oblique artist ever seen. Incredible human being
The Occult, baby, the occult...
@@Dzanarika1 He didn't believe that nonsense.
Absolutely love The Doors, such a unique and brilliant sounding band.
LA Woman hadn't been mixed when he left, it's part of what made Ray uneasy about his travelling to Paris. Jim left during the early mixing process just after all the recordings had been done, trusting that Ray, Robbie and John would do a good job without him. Also good to note that whilst in Paris he spoke to Robbie on the phone and talked about wanting to go back on tour to play the songs from LA Woman, with that being the last contact he had with the band before his passing
He actually spoke to John on the phone and expressed eagerness to go on tour.
5:35 his dad couldn't possibly be any more wrong. He's one of the most talented and unique songwriters I've ever heard. His melodies are extraordinary.

Everything about Jim is incredibly interesting, his outlook on life is just so different than most. If he were still alive today, he would be one of the most influential people in the world. If you let him convince you to look at the world through his perspective one time it gets addicting.
Jim had a dark presence with him and around him. I wish he chose Jesus' Kingdom instead of the dark kingdom.
No, "blood in the streets " in Peace Frog is from "Abortion Stories" in his notebooks. Its not about the natives accident. "Indians scattered on dawns highway " IS a direct reference, however.
Ah okay. I didn't know that. Thanks for emphasizing this.
@@LieLikesMusic And therein lies the rub. You're positing yourself as an authority when you're not. It's a nice video, I guess, but your research is lacking and is, therefore, misleading. Sadly you've just rehashed the same old perspectives, without delving deeper to reveal just how complex a person he was. Read 'Jim Morrison' by Frank Lisciandro and 'Jim Morrison: Life, Death, Legend' by Stephen Davis to get a fuller picture.
I was just about to tell this "LIE" character the same thing. I can't stand when people falsify information especially when I goddamn well I have educated myself for numerous years on the subject of THE DOORS AND MORRISON. Like a person with an ear for good music would say....I should've knew when I heard this "LIE VOICE"
@@psycholifer86leonard54 This guy obviously knows zero about his subject. Just making videos to get views. Facts be damned. On top of it he's a smug asshole.
Frank's book is actually: 'Jim Morrison, A Feast of Friends.' First hand accounts about Jim by people who knew him. After reading that, I came away with a much better picture of who the man really was. I really was meant to be born way later, in 1964.
"The future's uncertain and the end is always near."
let it roll . . .
“People are strange when you’re a stranger”
Eternal words from a broken poet. Let’s never say Jim is survived by the characters he left behind, he wouldn’t want that
Survived? What do you mean? He left a huge legacy. Tons of music, poetry, stories and films. It is what it is.
Dude, I read his biography and I agree with what he said once. He said that he became who he was because he wanted to be so fearless, so unrestricted so much in power like Alexander the Great.
That is why he had that hair cut all throughout his career. He wanted to look like Alexander.
I guess he really thought highly of himself during that whole time then.
To Understand Jim Morrison you need to understand the work of William Blake; and that is pretty hard.
Why? One of his bigger inspirations?
To quote Robbie Krieger, talking about the early years of the Doors..
"I don't know, Jim took a awful lot of acid"...
@Lie Likes Music Jim took the name of The Doors from a poem by William Blake, I tried to read his poetry but silly me couldn't understand it.
@@mr.evasion I think what you said here says at least as much as this video. With respect to it's creator, I'm not trying to be harsh.
Luis Mario Guerrero Sánchez Jim got the name “The Doors” from the title of Aldous Huxley’s book, “The Doors of Perception”, Huxley took the name from a William Blake poem though ya.
Part of what makes him larger than life is his own embellishment of reality. Dreams beget reality, he knew that stories, with all their embellishments and added details are what breathe life into what might otherwise be mundane.
Jim should not have dabbled into the occult, but he was born into it, so I am not judging him. I do not like how depressed and unhappy he was 99% of his life.
“I received an Aztec wall
Of vision
& dissolved my room in
Sweet derision
Closing my eyes, prepared to go
A gentle wind inform’d me so
And bathed my skin in ether glow”

Jim and the doors have a special place in my heart. I have been listening to their music since about the age of 10, I was introduced to them by my father who spent a few years in the USA.

Highly recommend reading the biography on Jim. It's called NO ONE GETS OUT ALIVE. Jim was beyond intelligent when it came to knowledge of books and writing. Coming from a strict background, he was the black sheep of the family.
Great book right there
Its a nice book. But Riders on the storm by densmore is also very good
I might buy both of these the next time i decide to make a Jim Morrison/ The doors video.
Apparently No One Here Gets Out Alive is a highly fictional book. Riders On The Storm strikes me as a very honest account from Densmore.

I come back to this video whenever I feel anxious. This was the first video that introduced me to Jim Morrison and his poetry (which later inspired mine) ❤️
Mmm
This video is incredible. Great job, seriously
I fucken love The Doors, especially my love Jimbo. It's crazy how short and sweet you made the ending. There are many wild stories of how Jim's life ended 💔
Well i think the most sensible and well-known story of how he died, was that he died in a bathtub.
From what i've heard the doctors never did an autopsy. So we'll never know for sure if he was way
too drunk, drowned or overdosed on other drugs
He was a genius and a true artist. He was bound to make an impact, somehow, someway. It just happened to be rock music at a pivotal time in history. Gave him a platform to be a shaman of sorts. Also, he was very perceptive concerning the death of a America and the direction of humanity. He saw this mess coming. I consider him and Hunter Thompson two of the most important voices in that era. We should have headed their warning.
I've said the same thing! Hunter and Jim has influenced a large portion of my life.
Very good video, compliment and thank you!

I think this is your best video. you really outdid yourself here. Perfect mix of research and production=final product!
Thank you! I really appreciate your support. I still think i can do even better though. But maybe i'll improve my writing
for the next one.
Was really hoping for a video like this. The Doors have such an interesting story that you don't hear enough about.
Some interesting interpretations, but you assume too much about him like saying "he thought more about death because he was on top, because he feared death". Too much assumption based on superficial notions.
I agree, I don't believe Jim usually was worried about arbitrary things like money and power to begin with. He was always obsessed with death, and also the focus on the occult didn't start towards the end of his college career it was his whole life, in high school he wrote a paper based on a 16th century book about the occult and satanism, which his teacher didn't believe he read or had, so she went to congressional library, and indeed did find the book was writing in reference to. I thought the video had some interesting interpretations, but I agree that a lot of the information provided was misleading and based off superficial notions.
Well what's true is that he thought about death quite a bit. The reason why is still a mystery. Like i said in the video,
he was going though depressive episodes. And "maybe" it also had a connection to him being on top of the world.
That's ONE example of a personal take. I think there's room for personal thoughts here and there.
ALSO:
What proof is there that Morrison was into demonology?
If the person who posted this can detail such proof, then I will believe it.
Otherwise, take this video down!
