My media mod mics stopped working suddenly. If I access the menu is says its on the rear mic but I can't change the setting, its grayed out? Any ideas?

On the media mod, there appears to be a USB-C power connection - does this power the camera? Reason I ask - I purchased the Ulanzi G8-7 replacement door for the battery compartment, so that I could have camera continuously connected to a power source rather than changing batteries continuously. But looking at the media mod, it appears to cover up the USB-C charging connection on the side of the camera. Was the media mod designed with this in mind, so that it could still be used with a continuous connection to power source?
I like to steri mic because I sometime use both front and back camera. What do you do think?
Media mod is available for Hero 5..? (I have only hero5)

There was a noticeable different in the testing. The on-board mic sounded a lot clearer when point the camera at you...something goes for the shotgun mics on the media mod. Its obvious the clarity would go up when the mic is facing toward you.
I'd get this accessory because a lot of the times I film whats in front of me (hero 5 black) and when I talk I sound distant from the camera even if its only half an arm length away....yet when I face the camera toward me I get better audio for what the on-board can pic up. Definitely considering upgrading my old hero5 to the hero9
When speaking from the front, the built in sounded better. This would probably only be with it for using your own external mic having the top mount.

There was a massive difference at 4:18 to 4:27 when you flipped the go pro
And I think you could use the shotgun regular mic than the media mod

I don’t have that mic but if it has a 3.5mm mic jack then it should work no problem.

Another UA-camr (David Harry) disassembled one of those Media Mods and sadly discovered that the mic's aren't actually "Shot Gun" style microphones. We have been ripped off.
