Just ran a friend brand new but old stock military 1150 dozer. 1988 model. I have been running Cat since a child and I'm now 48. The way I ran the case 1150 was I steered with my left foot just like steering clutches on a power shift Caterpillar. Forward and backward with equally phasing the two sticks closest to my crotch. The front two levers was high speed forward or low speed pulled back toward me and I leave it in the speed mostly. It didn't have the lever on the right of the four levers. The gas pedal is used like anything. Brake for both tracks and stopping was on right foot next to gas pedal. I'm used to a Cat so it sucker to hit the gas pedal all the time. With a Cat, the throttle pedal DEcellerates. That way you can leave your foot off of the pedal until feathering up to something or make it smooth between forward and reverse. - - I have been told that an 1150 can be steered with the feet like a Cat but the smaller machines blow seals. Not sure how you'd run a smaller machine using the gear powered levers? It would be jerky and overkill. But I hear people say that's how they steer a Case? Idk? After rubbing the Case dozer I got used to it after an hour to two. Thought about flipping the accelerator linkage over to a decel but didn't quite know how. The long blade control joystick was a little but climbs and made my arm sore as hell. In some ways I liked the machine.

I haven’t ran an old cat in so long we used to have an old d6d when I was kid and I used to jump back and forth between that and an old case 450b, couldn’t use the the pedals to steer because they were rusted solid lol but the cat sure was nice every single solitary thing on that machined worked like it was supposed to.

The way your supposed to steer these is with the high neutral low sticks not the forward neutral reverse stick. They are built to be handle going from high to low and vice versa at full throttle and load. The whole point of them and why they were better then other brands is because of this feature you now have power while your turning even with a full blade. The brake pedals are basically just for emergencies. My dad's had one for as long as I can remember (had 2 for a while a 450 and an 850) and I'm 33 now and have never used the brakes on either. The 450s brakes haven't worked in probably 20 years and we even think of fixing them. Once you get use to it your not jerky at all. I've graded against brand new foundations and curbs many times and never worry about hitting them but I have also been running them since I was 6 so I do have an advantage I guess.

I was told not to use the clutch brakes on the left side. Pain in the ass to replace the clutches when you wear them out. I noticed you used them to turn. You can use the levers to turn. All your video covered was forward, reverse and moving the blade.
