I understand that Event Protection will record if theres a punch or sudden stop. Can I manually trigger and save the event by pressing some buttons? On the Ghost XL
I had a Ghost XL Pro and it was truly dreadful. The battery would not hold a charge and despite reaching out to Drift on many occasions, and the fact it was still in warranty, they would not help at all. Their after sales service is non existent and, interestingly, you will not find an address or telephone number for them anywhere on their website!! I would highly recommend not buying one of these cameras but go for something like the DJI Oslo Action 4, a far better all round camera.

I can’t comment on the Drift Ghost XL Pro, but my standard Drift Ghost Xl has lasted around 2 years now with no issues at all and it is used in all weathers. I needed a new audio connector lead and the Drift website was constantly out if stock so I emailed the company who were good enough to locate and send me one free of charge. Looks like my experience with Drift has been very different to yours. Interestingly I did ditch the GoPro a few weeks ago, I found it buggy, unreliable and the battery life was terrible. Bought a DJI Osmo 4 which I agree is a fantastic camera, everything the GoPro promised (but didn’t deliver) and more.
Seriously the changing of a Gopro battery is nae sweat, you could also run it fae a power pack in yer pocket or plug it into a usb socket on the bike tae hae it on all day, (but who in their right minds wants to edit that much footage) . Batteries I always charge in a charger and I use the mediamod in dry weather to record. The Ghost wilnae work fer me as I wear a neck brace when riding (due to neck problems) as the mic plug is unsuitable , big drawback. The new Ghost XL Pro has 4k ability too but battery life is cut to only 4h max, which fer me means just a single battery change when not running it aff the bike. Ride safe, Rick.
Thanks for your thoughts. You are of course right about the GoPro battery, I just need to buy some more. I’m looking to upgrade my old laptop soon which should make working with the GoPro files easier, it’s my camera of choice if filming specially for public consumption, but for me the Drift wins out as a daily security workhorse. Mainly because they wouldn’t be relevant to overseas viewers, would be out of date anyway soon after the video uploaded and may be found cheaper elsewhere. A simple Google/eBay or Amazon check can get you a current price if the equipment is of interest. However I’ll take your point on board and try to include them in the future

You can manually tag clips in the dashcam mode. It will save the clips you tag and overwrite everything else

how much GB is your card? 5mins is 0,5gb for me. So with 128gb card, you will be able to have ~ 20 hrs

I get 6-7 hours of video on my drift. Pretty much I turn it on, ride all day, turn it off. My full ride is now recorded.

surely if it's on the helmet, the lack of stabilisation isn't really a major issue?
Sadly the roads of Edinburgh (general poor condition, and cobbled streets) make for a bumpy ride
