    I really love this.
Not sure about how safe it is for my rabbit considering the Baking Soda..
but this is one of the videos with the best quality of wheat grass I have seen!
    Great job!!

Thank you for your suggestions. Baking soda is not entirely necessary. I happen to live in an extremely humid climate and plants tend to get mildew on them, so I use the tinniest bit of baking soda to keep the mildew off. If you have luck growing it without the baking soda great!

I just got my appetizer tray today at Bed bath and beyond in Rockville Maryland...Actually they didn't have the trays on the floor but a helpful employee thought he saw something similar to what I described to him in the back so he got it out and it was exactly like yours..they had only 2 left (seasonal item they said) and I bought both ...about $22 each...JUST ORDERED MY ORGANIC WHEAT BERRIES...Aaaaaah I JUST CAN'T WAIT...THANKS A BUNCH :)

I had done wheat grass in trays in the past and it can be a pain but still worth it. After watching this video a few months back, I ordered the tray you are using from Amazon and tried it out. I grew great and I am planning a second tray soon.
My plan is to have 2 trays going at a time and sub dividing the process so I should have 2 parts ready at a time and just work on keeping a rotation (Daily) of the process going. 1/3 of a cup started every other day will let me have juice daily. Thanks.

This has got to be the easiest way to grow wheatgrass I have ever seen!! I have grown it a few times in the trays with the dirt! Two of these trays would be great since you could keep rotating and have some growing all the time!! Can't wait to get a tray and try this!! Do you have to keep adding water to the bottom tray?

Just tried our first shot of wheat grass at a farmers market here in Ireland, I must say I didn't really like the taste of it but will continue to drink it as so good for us. Wow that is a lot of effort you put in there to get just 4 shots of juice but health is everything and worth the effort to help ones body feel healthy and happy :-)

Baking soda changes the PH levels so the little nasties do not grow on the plants. Changing the water also helps prevent other nasties from growing.

Although I know that people claimed to grow things, if you think about it, it is obvious that we people do not grow anything at all. We simply put seeds that our Dear God Created and Only God Made them grow if God Wanted. Please say that you are tending wheatgrass, to be grateful to God and to be accurate. the rinsing is so they don't dry out on the counter. After the initial soaking you can't leave them completely submerged, because when they begin to sprout they would drown. So you leave them out of water, but rinse to moisten.

Grow it near a sunny window. Ours does fine & tastes the same as the wheatgrass shots & wheatgrass already grown in the health food stores. As far as growing it outside, you get a higher concentration of bugs as well.

    • @cheezenpotatoes3753
      @cheezenpotatoes3753 7 років тому +1

you can juice 7-10 days from the point you start soaking the seeds & you want to juice before it starts to split, or as soon as it starts to split until you're experienced enough to know when it's about to... I and the rest of the wheatgrass community grow in dirt. Hydro should be faster but since this technique is with plain water with no oxygenation,....

Won't the wheat grass have problems with mold and things like that sitting in all that water or no? And, one more question if you don't mind? Does this need a lot of sun? I live in an apartment complex and I live in an upstairs unit. I could put it out on my balcony. But, my balcony area doesn't get much sun at all.So, I was just wondering if I could do this effectively with no direct sunlight? Thanks! And, by the way, I love your video.

Your presentation is very simple and understandable, I tried couple of time but unable to sprout at first place, shall i need to use warm water to soak or keep at warm place during soak and first 2 days, your response and guidance to this will be highly appreciated.

How many REGROWTHS / Yields, do you get from ONE batch. Should I cut ALL of it at one time, or as wanted? If I cut ALL of it, as a single person, what's the best way to preserve the excess ... ?? I purchased the same brand Appetizer tray from Amazon, as you suggested, although it has 8 sections. Wheatgrass is almost 7" ... ready to cut
Wouldn't it be AWE-some if everyone's LAWN(S) were Wheatgrass. It's a gorgeous Green colour / grows quickly once sprouted ... feed animals, including cats & dogs they like & need the chlorophyl that's NOT found in their processed foods

When sprouting wheat for animal consumption they suggest soaking in a peroxide solution then rinsing prior to putting in trays. This might be something to try for human consumption as well. In addition, you might add a little peroxide to your spray water. My friend uses lemon juice.

Great idea using that tray to create "serving size clumps"! Isn't this a rather inefficient means of obtaining wheatgrass for home juicing though? It seems like a lot of work vs. yield when growing it. Isn't the grass literally "shot" once you harvest each clump? There aren't any nutrients in the water to help the cut grass continue growing after the initial harvest. Grass planted in dirt will continue to grow after you cut the tops off, so you might get a few more servings out of each seed.
It seems like a fun activity for people who shop at nice farmers markets in Ft. Lauderdale to try, anyway... Props to the vendor that came up with idea to make up and sell those kits.

This is a good video. I learned something about wheat grass. Nice! I was wondering how long it took to actually grow, so i looked down in the comments section (i wondered if someone had asked this question). The odd thing is how many sad people out there wanted to whine about this video (music being too loud, duration etc).
This is a nice personality litmus test. If after watching this video you felt compelled to write some shitty comment about the music being too loud or the fact that you were so bothered by having to sit through 2 minutes until the actual instructions come on, then you are a sad loser and growing wheat grass is far down the list of things you need to do to improve your life. Honestly.
Thanks again for the video !

I have heard that the wheat grass is more nutritious if you grow it in a small amount of soil medium rather than just growing in pure water. Anyone looked into this fact? They say the wheat grass pulls lots of trace minerals and nutrients from the soil that it can't get from plain water. This is an easier less messier way, but I think I would rather have the more nutrient dense wheat grass if I had to choose.

You need the digestive system of a cow to eat the pulp of wheat grass. Some sprouts you raise to juice, some to eat.
If you want the vitamins and minerals sprouts provide the Queen sprout is alfalfa. It would be a lot easier and tastier
in that spinach, honey and mango mix.

Hi! thanks for the video, I tried this at home and was not successful my first time. Initially my seeds did not sprout as quickly, or as fully as yours did in the video. Then, on my appetizer tray I do not have the lids, so I covered with plastic wrap, do you think that is too sealed? Then, even after spraying with the water and baking soda I got a lot of mold. How full should the water level be under the seeds? Should it be touching the seeds or just below? If you could give any advice on how to improve the next time I try I would appreciate the help! Thanks

Yes, the wheat grass grows best in soil. With her method you run a high risk of getting toxic mold on the wheat grass. Soil is always the best method to grow. I believe she lives in an apartment and this was a convenient indoor method for her.

The Farmer's Market is great! It is in Davie, on the west side of Flamingo Road, a little South of Griffin. It is VERY easy to miss! There is usually a little sign pointing to it. It's close to a nursery. Tell Sheila I said hi!

The point of wheatgrass is that it draws more then any plant all the nutrients from the soil making it nutrient rich. This way may make grass that's pretty but does it have all the nutritional value of that coming from a good organic rich soil?

That's a really good question. I have read different articles online regarding the need for soil when growing wheatgrass and how that may, or may not, affect the mineral absorption of the grass. Ideally, growing wheatgrass in soil is best, however, if you can't this is an alternative method that still provides you with some benefits. As for you cat, I suggest keep it as high up as possible! I have two and that's what I do :)

    Hi,
Could you post the address of that Southwest Farmers Market you mention in FLL? It doesn't come out in search....

Now I am also unclear on this. When fill the bottom of the tray with water, you should fill it high enough to cover the seeds once you out each individual tray containing the seeds? I haven't received my tray yet so maybe it will make more sense once I get it.
