Love it and love everything about it. That .277 Fury sounds like a great cartridge.
Thank you 😊
Well. Snap! Crackle Pop!!!
That new round. Wow
the brass case modification makes complete sense to me
I love it
dude, great vid, do you know if SIG are doing a fixed stock?
When?
Seriously if they can get 3000 FPS out of their 6.8 NGSW Rifle and keep recoil manageable that would be a legit game changer. Would let average soldiers engage at 600 yards easily basically doubling the effective range of the m4. Problem is Recoil though. That energy as to go somewhere. Would love to test one out
Exactly. It should also offer better armor penetration with the speed I would think? And the idea of a standardized designated marksman and rifleman ammo as well as "snipers" imagine that.
Apparently the recoil is also less than that of 308 but hitting harder
@@bkackmagic555
It's greater than 308. Physics
@@theimmortal4718 Recoils is a function of momentum which scales linearly with velocity, whereas energy scales as the square of velocity. So if you double the velocity and half the mass of a bullet, the momentum stays the same(and subsequent recoil from the bullet) but the energy doubles. Now that greater energy will generally require more powder mass, the momentum change of which will also increase recoil, so you have to take that into account, but it is certainly possible to increase energy while decreasing recoil with a higher speed lower mass bullet.
As a comparison, by Barnes reloading data, lets compare the 30-06 to the 405 Winchester, both tested with 24" barrels and loaded with RL 15 powder, and we will assume 7 lb. rifles for recoil calculations. A 130gr 30-06 round loaded with 56.5gr of powder has a muzzle energy of 3115 ft.-lb. and a recoil energy of 21.81 ft.-lb. In comparison, a 300gr 405 round loaded with 51.5gr of powder has a muzzle energy of 2617 ft.-lb. and a recoil energy of 32.9 ft.-lb.. So this 30-06 round has significantly more energy but significantly lighter recoil.
@@recurrenTopology
Yet, the recoil is obviously greater than .308, let alone multiple times that of 5.56. so great, that I doubt follow up shots at medium range in anything but prone supported is out the window
8.6 BLK, 12.5 barrel, 1in3 twist, 210 grain
So I placed my order for this .277 with camo back in October of 2020. It is now 8 months later and still havent seen my order show up at the local FFL. So did Sig just quit making this caliber? Next problem, if I ever get my .277, where will I be able to get that caliber ammo?
Crap dude that stinks 😟
been waiting a year, sig doesn't know when the .277 will be ready, unless someone has new info.
@@jod9238 I cancelled my cross order last week. Have a Christianson Arms MPR 6.5 PRC on its way. Will be here in 1 week. Thanks for nothing on this one, Sig.
Imagine the hand loads for this.
take my money!!!
Jesus Loves You
This gun has a Match grade barrel and trigger. The stock will fold the other direction as well.
All man got buy one now
2 years later. Still vaporware.
😍😻
I wonder what the barrel life is on 277... Probably sub 1000 rounds?
Ya that was my first question the old 243 and newer 6.5 CM have significantly shorter barrel lives than 308 like half, second question how much of a problem is case head separation going to be with a three part case, as some have said already the round has been delayed indefinitely
older video that came into my ‘recommendeds’. Lol but I am quite happy to see a video from June 2020 apparently, where it appears nobody is wearing masks during what would have been the peak of the idiotic mask mania. Therefore I am curious, how did the shot show people get around all that silliness that was occurring at that time? I am very curious indeed! Always remember what “they” did to us and never forget the illegal lockdowns!
I’d love to buy one, but I’d have to wait until they work out all bugs.. Nice gun otherwise
Magazine is big enough to load long hell you can't reload the. 277 furry
.277 sig is way more badass then the crudmoor ever thought to be lol
It looks like the Sig removed the AR15 style ejection port cover as an afterthought. I can only imagine how unreliable AR 15 is without that ejection port cover. It's like riding your car without the hood and air filter - not the best idea. Maybe that's not that bad for plinking, but is IMO unacceptable for hunting.
Haven't had an ejection port covering on an ar 15 in 5years or more. No issues.
And pretty much no bolt gun uses one. Maybe the q fix iirc but its a rarity
@@kylevanwinkle2081 Bolt guns don't have as wide gap as in AR-15 ejection port, the bolt is working as a cover. It will be a problem if you live in a dusty area IMO, or if you are squeezing through the bush, that might become a problem too. It looks like an afterthought, early prototypes are with the ejection port cover, the real product - without it. Gen. 1 problems.
@@user-vy8jn9mc6g ummm....its a bolt rifle not a ar
@@randyphillips4472 Yes, although half of it's advertising photos are with that cover. Removing it looks like an afterthought. Never buy gen 1 product )
Ar15 without the ejection port cover is still a very reliable weapon system especially in DI form. The expanding gas In the carrier actually blows debris out of the action
So 70 years late the Americans agree .280 cartridge is brilliant. Just like the British had in production for the FAL and EM2. Not saying your slow boys but.
Its not a 280british lol. Its running almost 80000 psi. Magnum velocities.308 lenghth. Its sigs new ngsw caliber. And sig is german/swiss. Not american technically
How is it 280? It’s a .277 caliber which is a .270! .284 is a .280! so no you’re wrong the Americans have always loved the .270 Winchester and the 7mm Remington magnum which is a .284 as well.
@@christianzale505 plus it's not like in the 1950s we really had the optics to make a super accurate high BC bullet that useful, especially compared to having to completely change our tooling to work with a different diameter bullet
The US military figured it out 100 years ago but did not want the spend the money to all the service rifles, all the MGs and all the BARs at the time. Plus there was a LOT of left over 30-06 from WW-II. I think that the civilians falling for this are going to be sorry one way or the other. So they made a few rifles and made some videos. Remember, right now all ammo is going to the US military. They don’t have enough production capacity to make ammo for civilians. Most of what you hear on this is just hyping “new and improved” when often its not really.
but what?😂
Get rid of that box mag and put a blind mag on it, it would be even more sleek and shave alil more weight off.
Ooooo look a Fix copy!
The Q fix is a copy of the Merkel kR1. Go look it up,
big bang to total flop!
Mid to late June 2021... still not out. Typical sig.
I don’t understand why people remove the compensator from the rifle at least they could attach a sweet potato 🍠 because looks so ungly without this piece 😢😮😮😮
Hope it works out for sig but, I don't see enough guys caring about being able to get 3000 fps out of a 16" bbl, to pay the high cost (2×, 3×?) of this super cartridge.
I think the idea is for a logistical standpoint. They want a wonder round. Imagine ur average infantry ur designated marksman and maybe even some "snipers" all using the same round and maybe even the same mags. Itd be easier than having to deploy 30-06 and 556 and 308 etc from using guns with different rounds. Having one round would save them alot of money and probably easier to train on as it would have the same kinda recoil and performance and u. Make a fuck ton of ammo since most solders would be firing it
makes complete sense,
hope it works out.. basically sounds like a 308 on steroids.
@@brighthought11 it sounds like what if you split the difference between 308, 6.5 cm and 300 winmag.
140 gr 6.8mm with high BC at over 3000 fps.
I'm excited for the cases alone to see what's possible with hotloading classic 308 based cartridges. You don't need the full 80,000 psi to do great things. Just 70-75k alone really stretches what's practical.
And like he said, high pressure might optimize short barrels, but it's stoll more juice in longer ones too.
If you're familiar with the 8.6 blackout by Q, it's supposed to come out later this year. It's a SAMMI approved and optimized 338 whisper... basically a 338 federal chopped to be like 300 blk, but with massive 300-350 gr subs, but also 200 gr bullets at AK velocities... but from short barrels. That's the problem with the 277 fury from a short barrel: it has more powder AND higher pressure than 308, but their Spear rifle is an SBR. that's hella crazy blast. The 8.6 by comparison also uses very fast powders, but with less case volume and wider bore, the pressures drop faster, so less blast but still good performance. Add the 3 part case and 80k psi and you can run even FASTER powders, as long as the gun and projectile can handle it with that insane fast twist 8.6 has (1:4"). Use a 16" instead and you can surpass 308 easily at moderate ranges, but still keep infamous 16" blast low. Quality of life goes up.
But of course not everything is infinitely maleable. I'm sure here's consequences we've yet to realize. But I still hold that this is potentially a great boon for short barreled guns. Higher pressure means doing more with less.
@@bkackmagic555 the days of wounding are over basically. Just put them down and out and move on.
Going blind are ya? It is what it is and it does what it does. Better ballistics, way less felt recoil, way less traveling weight. Men pay the same money for a name brand that will bruise their shoulder and wear them out on a long walk
barrel burner
Still unobtainable.
The 6mm arc is more interesting imho
I agree. Have a 6mm arc upper in order
@@chasemichaud9519 if ammo was available I'd pick up a setup. But I don't reload so 2 types of ammo that are all but impossible to find atm makes it hard to order parts for
The ammo won't be available until and if they start mass production for the military maybe. Otherwise it will be a niche caliber. Still the idea of a 6.8x51 able to go over 1000 yds out of a 16 inch barrel is sick
Told you they would not go with the 277 . I know I am and expert like the 6,5 creedmoor it will not kill with the bullets they got . Till they devlope a bullet that will work its a junk round just good to punch holes in paper. the 7 PRC and the 6.5 PRC in the same boat. I have taken white tale deer with them and have to shoot 3 or more times to do the job just getting fleash wounds no penetration the bullet blowes up on impact. the 277 fury is to fast with a FMJ bullet smaller than a 308 diameter so it leaves a Pin hole no catastrophic dammage. All I got to say about that . Watch the Gun smith videos he has the same thing to say. we all ready have the best rounds in the world developed AMEN. Spend money on the new stuff Guys thats what they want like getting new electronics every year LOL.
Barrel life. Has anyone asked about this? Or are we just living on hype. High priced ammo and no way to handload. I doubt you can even get the propellant they use.
Having a .277 fury right now is about the dumbest caliber firearm you can own right now haha.
It will never replace the 308 because it will do the same thing in speed with the same grain bullet so why change hum.
Uh no it's got ballistics simular to 7mm magnum way faster than 308 that said 308 is going nowhere
Who want a 16 inch barrel on a bolt action loss of accuracy and energy I want a minimum of 20 inches you not using a bolt in close combat
the idea is for movement and deployment. either for hunting and carrying comfort or real world environment tactical use
16 inch 308 or 18-20 inch cm, can do everything you need. your not losing that much, is a 24-26 inch barrel more effective in terms of velocity and accuracy, yes.. but this is built for a certain type of task/mission where being more mobil/compact yet practically just as effective.
the thought is you will be suppressed as well.. so add another 6-8 inches to the end of the barrel and almost a pound..
that 22-24 inch overall length with suppressor and folding stock is alot more realistic than a 30+ inch
@@brighthought11yah but a suppressor does not add fps in the way that a full length 24 inch barrel maximizes velocity
This rifle is garbage. Like most SIG products, it has defects right out of the box
